Week of November 13-19, 2023
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1971, 1973, and more 1973.
Our first stop is at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY, where we have the end of the show, featuring Saint Stephen> Not Fade Away > Goin' Down The Road Feeling Bad > Not Fade Away > Uncle John's Band.
Next up are two classic Grateful Dead songs performed on 2/19/73 in Chicago, 10 days after they’d both debuted live on 2/9/73 at Stanford: Eyes Of The World>China Doll.
From two days later in Champaign-Urbana, IL, on 2/21/73, we have this sequence from the first set: Wave That Flag ; Me And My Uncle ; Brown Eyed Women ; Beat It On Down The Line ; Loser ; Looks Like Rain ; Row Jimmy ; You Ain't Woman Enough ; Box Of Rain ; Mexicali Blues ; Sugaree.
Be sure to come back next week for more music from the vault.

Early Eyes
What a gorgeous early version.
Four part harmony.
Not a fully developed Stronger Than Dirt section.
One of the best songs for jam segues in the catalog.
Cheers
