Week of November 18-24, 2019
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1972, 1982, and 1989.
Our first selection is from 9/3/72 at Folsom Field in Boulder, CO, the first show after the famous Veneta show a week earlier. From this terrific show, we have the big second set jam of He's Gone>Other One>Wharf Rat. This was the last piece of music released in the Dick’s Picks series, included as bonus tracks on the end of Dick’s Picks Vol. 36 from 9/21/72 in Philadelphia.
Next is the entire excellent first set from 8/6/82 in St. Paul, MN, where we have Bertha > New Minglewood Blues ; Candyman > Little Red Rooster ; Bird Song > El Paso ; Tennessee Jed ; It's All Over Now ; Lazy Lightnin' > Supplication ; Might As Well.
Lastly this week is the start of the second set from 8/5/89 at Cal Expo in Sacramento, CA, where we have Hey Pocky Way ; Playing In The Band>I Know You Rider ; Terrapin Station. This a very rare I Know You Rider without China Cat Sunflower, songs that were only separated from one another a handful of times since their debut as a pair in September 1969.
Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.
