Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have some excellent Grateful Dead music from 1973, 1984 and 1985.
From the final night of the second leg of the Fall Tour of 1973, from 11/1/73 in Evanston, IL, we have this sequence of Morning Dew > Playing In The Band> Uncle John's Band > Playing In The Band. This is sort of the precursor of the sequence they’d play a week later at Winterland on 11/10/73, the famous Playing>Uncle John’s>Dew>Uncle John’s>Playing musical palindrome they’d play three times (11/10/73, 11/17/73, and 3/23/74).
Next up is the very cool sequence of Help On The Way > Slipknot! > Franklin's Tower ; Lost Sailor > Saint Of Circumstance ; Wharf Rat > Gimme Some Lovin' from 11/2/84 at the Berkeley Community Theatre, including a rare pre-Drums Wharf Rat, and the first Gimme Some Lovin’ by the Dead.
Lastly this week is the start of the second set from 11/5/85 at the Worcester Centrum, where we have Shakedown Street ; Man Smart (Woman Smarter) ; Ship Of Fools > Supplication > Playin' Reprise > Don't Need Love.
Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.
