Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1971, 1982, and 1989.
Our first stop is opening night of the Dead’s six night run in Port Chester, NY, on 2/18/71, where the Dead debuted many new, future-classic songs: Bertha; Truckin' ; It Hurts Me Too; Loser ; Greatest Story Ever Told > Johnny B. Goode.
From 11 years later, we have the start of the show from 2/19/82 in San Diego, featuring Bertha > Greatest Story Ever Told ; Dire Wolf; Little Red Rooster; Brown Eyed Women.
Another Bertha opener, this one from 8/4/89 at Cal Expo in Sacramento, where we have Bertha ; Greatest Story Ever Told ; Althea ; Mama Tried ; Mexicali Blues ; Never Trust A Woman.
