Week of September 4-10, 2023
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we’ll check out some Grateful Dead music from San Francisco in 1969 and 1983, along with some prime 1980 Dead from Atlanta.
Our first stop this week is on 12/19/69 at the Fillmore Auditorium, where we have a Pigpen duo of songs sandwiched around some psychedelic gold from Anthem Of The Sun and a taste of Americana Dead with this great sequence of Good Lovin'; TIFTOO> Uncle John's Band > Turn On Your Lovelight.
From 11 years later on 11/30/80 in Atlanta, we have the start of the second set featuring Scarlet Begonias> Fire On The Mountain ; Samson And Delilah ; Ship Of Fools; Playing In The Band.
Lastly this week is the entire second set from 12/30/83 in San Francisco, where we have Shakedown Street ; Man Smart (Woman Smarter) ; Terrapin Station > Space > Drums > Space > Truckin' > Wharf Rat > Good Lovin'.
Be sure to join us next week with more tunes from the vault.
