Robert Hunter Tiger Rose (50th Anniversary Remaster) [1LP]
Complex and inviting, the world of Tiger Rose overflows with Hunter lyrical signatures, painting new corners of the already wide landscape he’d begun to map with the Dead. There are stacks of simple and beguiling images (“Dance A Hole”), cosmic advice (“One Thing To Try”), dispatches from mystical landscapes (“Rose Of Sharon”), and folkloric characters (“Wild Bill”). - Jesse Jarnow, TIGER ROSE 50TH ANNIVERSARY (DELUXE EDITION) Liners
Originally released in March 1975, the Jerry Garcia-produced Tiger Rose features contributions from Garcia, Mickey Hart and Donna Jean Godchaux. The TIGER ROSE 50TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION 1LP has been remastered from the original analog tapes by Grammy Award-Winning Engineer David Glasser using Plangent Processes tape restoration and speed correction.
Which version?
Seems only fair to ask, since Hunter re-recorded his vocal tracks when Tiger Rose was released on CD (retaining all the original music, though changing the track order). If I had to guess, I'd expect the original vocals (since the product description doesn't mention the re-recordings), and that the new vocal tracks from the Ryko release are the 'alternate' versions on the second disc of the deluxe CD -- but why not say so?
FWIW, I love this album and have preferred performances from both versions. Looks awesome too. Very glad this is being given new life.
