@Fizbo
Morning Mr. Mayor , didn't recognize you with all the makeup....have some coffee....
now on K DED a request for Cake.....
a little driving music on the Highway to Hell.
Pupper break out the vibraslap....
I've got wheels,
Of polished steel,
I've got tires that drive,
The road,
I've got seats that selflessly,
Hold my friends,
And a trunk that can carry,
The heaviest of loads,
I've got a mind that can steer me,
To your house,
And a heart that can bring you,
Red flowers,
My intentions are good,
And earnest, and true,
But under my hood,
Is internal combustion power,
And Satan is my motor,
Hear my motor power,
Satan is my motor, motor,
Hear my motor power,
Satan is the only one,
Who seems to understand,
I've got brakes,
I'm wide awake,
I can stop this car,
At anytime,
At the very last second,
I can change directions,
Turn completely around,
If I feel so inclined,
I've got a mind that can steer me,
To your house,
And a heart that can bring you,
Red flowers,
My intentions are good,
And earnest, and true,
But under my hood,
Is internal combustion power,
And Satan is my motor,
Hear my motor power,
Satan is my motor, motor,
Hear my motor power,
Satan is the only one,
Who seems to understand,
Satan is my motor,
Satan is my motor,
Satan is my motor,
Satan is my motor,
Satan is my motor,
Satan is my motor,
Hear my motor power,
Satan is the only one,
Who seems to understand...

Hey, hey, hey heads, just two weeks till we're in the windy city! The momentum is picking up and we may be able to coast into town on fumes!
Making all the last minute plans
Celebrated Matt's birthday this week, one more year on this spinning wheel.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.
Anticipation is BUILDING!!!
Grant Park
After looking at Tony's father's day spreadsheets (thanks, T-man!) I just noticed that if Buckingham Fountain is the head of the Park from an aerial view, then we are meeting in the "heart" of the Park. Home is where the heart is, as they say.
I want a girl with the right allocations
Who is fast and thorough and sharp as a tack
Nice Cake selections on KDED today, Mike and Rich!
@Lou Reed
Holly came from Miami FLA....Hitchhiked her way across the USA...

Cooler by the Lake
Has anyone mentioned that a sweatshirt or the like, should be included on your Chicago packing check-list? Soldier Field can resemble Candlestick Park for weather, and no one will be able to forecast it until the day before (if, at all.)
And, even when it's warm, it is always cooler by the lake.
It's a beautiful day here in Chicagoland, today. I'm playing hooky from the mines, and spending the day in the garden.
...Make good money, five dollars a day
If I made any more I might move away!
Cheers, y'all!
@Al Jarreau...
does anyone wanna go dancin in the garden?Does anyone wanna go dancin on the roof?
sorry old memory of an old flame...
Thanks for the memory....
now on K DED.....a little nod to the Windy City....
at Katniss' request....
In and around the lake
Mountains come out of the sky and they stand there
Twenty four before my love and I'll be there
I'll be the roundabout
The words will make you out 'n' out
You spend the day your way
Call it morning driving thru the sound and in and out the valley
and all I have to say is Yes.....
just wondering

If I was a man I'd make my move
If I was a blade I'd shave you smooth
If I was a judge I'd break the law
And if I was from Paris
If I was from Paris
I would say
Ooh la la la la la la la [4x]
You got me up on your swing
So when you gonna shake that thing?
You got me up on your swing
So when you gonna shake that thing?
If I was a man I'd make my move
If I was a blade I'd shave you smooth
If I was a judge I'd break the law
And if I was from Paris
If I was from Paris
I would say
Ooh la la la la la la la [4x]
If I was a man I'd make my move

After midnight, we're gonna let it all hang down. After midnight, we're gonna chug-a-lug and shout.
We're gonna stimulate some action;
We're gonna get some satisfaction.
We're gonna find out what it is all about.
After midnight, we're gonna let it all hang down.
After midnight, we're gonna shake your tambourine.
After midnight, it's all gonna be peaches and cream.
We're gonna cause talk and suspicion;
We're gonna give an exhibition.
We're gonna find out what it is all about.
After midnight, we're gonna let it all hang down.
Goodnight Irene..goodnight...
@the top of the clock
Right there, is midnite and the beginning of another day. Here's a quarter, captain, could you play another tune?
One with Banjos and saxes and a xylophone, please.
Thank you, and watch out for that tree.

every Tom and Dick and Harry
you must be strong
to go it alone
here's to the bachelors
and the bowery bums
and those who feel that they're the ones
who are better off without a wife
I like to sleep until the crack of noon
midnight howlin' at the moon
goin' out when I wanto, comin' home when I please
I don't have to ask permission
if I want to go out fishing
and I never have to ask for the keys
never been no Valentino
had a girl who lived in Reno
left me for a trumpet player
didn't get me down
he was wanted for assault
though he said it weren't his fault
well the coppers rode him right
out of town
selfish about my privacy
as long as I can be with me
we get along so well I can't believe
I love to chew the fat with folks
and listen to all your dirty jokes
I'm so thankful for these friends
I do receive
Sarge is such a dog....

Patch those Sails and Shine those Rails!
@ busy, Roadking
Congrats and best wishes to you and yours, and Happy Father's Day weekend.
You are only as old as you feel. And there's always one who is older and more foolish...stand beside him and look good.
And good morning to the Fonts, to our dussy briver, to our sail/rail singer, and my aren't all the ladies looking nice this morning.
Happy Days!
g
@time to get your boots on....
Sarge just dug up this little tidbit whilst looking for a bone....the tracks are getting awfully deep here on ba Dus...
You went out on the street without your shoes on
You didn't listen what your momma said
She said you won't feel the benefit, won't feel the benefit
And if we all went out without our shoes on
Tell me where would we be, where would we be
If all the people in the world lost their reason
What would we see, where would we be
If all the entertainers in the world lost their music
What would they play, what could they say
To pacify the crowd, to justify themselves
Won't feel the benefit
You're like a cloud behind the sun
Like the face behind the clown
You're moving like the wrinkles in a frown
And you can never look back
A leaf that's borne upon the wind
A cardboard suitcase in your hand
The wanderer soon returns
And finds the colour of the grass is just the same
On the other side of the tracks, oh no
Ooh when you smile it's like a holiday
Ooh pack your bags and we can get away
We'll float on a Queen down to Rio
There's no need to shave
We'll be stinking like rum in a punch
You can walk on the water
You can dabble in the mumbo jumbo
You can smoke a little ganja
Float like a cloud over Rio, Rio
You can ride with the Gauchos
Swinging your bolas in a red bandana
You can run with the devil
Takin' your chances with Senorita
You can drink a lot of coffee in Brazil
But the bill is gonna make you ill
Feel the benefit
So, you can go out on the street and take your chances
But if you do, you better do it right
Or you won't feel the benefit, won't feel the benefit
Spin the wheel and take your chances
And your number might come up
Though the odds may be in favor of the house
If all the people in the world would say together
We're all black and white, we're all day and night
If all the people in the world could sing together
How would it sound, what would we feel
We'd all feel the benefit
nothin' left to do but smile...
Hey Stanley don't bogart that thing....
@Under the Boardwalk....
I got no time for the corner boysDown in the street making all that noise
Or the girls out on the avenue
'Cause tonight I wanna be with you
Tonight I'm gonna take that ride
Across the river to the Jersey side
Take my baby to the carnival
And I'll take her on all the rides
'Cause down the shore everything's all right
You and your baby on a Saturday night
You know all my dreams come true
When I'm walking down the street with you
Sha la la la la la la
Sha la la la la la la la la
Sha la la la la la la la
Sha la la la I'm in love with a Jersey girl
You know she thrills me with all her charms
When I'm wrapped up in my baby's arms
My little girl gives me everything
I know that some day she'll wear my ring
So don't bother me man I ain't got no time
I'm on my way to see that girl of mine
'Cause nothing matters in this whole wide world
When you're in love with a Jersey girl
Sha la la la la la la
Sha la la la la la la la la
Sha la la la la la la la
Sha la la la I'm in love with a Jersey girl
I see you on the street and you look so tired
I know that job you got leaves you so uninspired
When I come by to take you out to eat
You're lyin' all dressed up on the bed baby fast asleep
Go in the bathroom and put your makeup on
We're gonna take that little brat of yours and drop her off at your mom's
I know a place where the dancing's free
Now baby won't you come with me
'Cause down the shore everything's all right
You and your baby on a Saturday night
Nothing matters in this whole wide world
When you're in love with a Jersey girl
one more Saturday night....
and after tonight one less.....
Make it count....
Goodnight Irene...goodnight...
I'll see you in my dreams....
Chicago psychedelic art.. sort of
Hey there,
I hope the forum lets me post links, sometimes it freaks out and thinks links imply spam.
Anyhow..
I was viewing some images produced by stacked neural networks here..
pretty groovy stuff.
http://googleresearch.blogspot.com/2015/06/inceptionism-going-deeper-in…
In that collection there is a neural net generated freak out of Georges Searut's pointilist painting " A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte"..
seeing that I realized that the "la Grande Jatte" painting is in Chicago, within walking distance of the concert.
The painting is huge, like 10 feet long.
Sort of a nice thing to stare out when feeling grateful.

Awe. Shucks :)
Whew! That was a loooooong nap I took in the back there, eh? Thanks for the constant lullabies there. Make for sweet dreaming. 41 posts later...
Hey. HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!! This is a special day! Have a sweet one all you dads and daddies. :)
Say. Something really cool happened on Thursday (my mom's birthday incidentally). I got my first paid editing gig that night that wasn't from a friend, family member, or school newspaper, so... Thanks. I know it's a part of the motion that made me:
1) Read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (FINALLY) on a beach in Thailand in December
2) Decide on a meditation cushion in Burma in January that I was going to see the Dead
3) Look into it right on time when I got home and set about it with an open hand
4) Bring those golden intentions to fruition
5) Be open to joining up with y'all
6) Continue to dream and voice what I would like in my life while keeping this current one afloat...
Sometimes this bus feels like a monastery/a mirror, or maybe a spot to work out those kinks we got wrong in kindergarten. Anyhow. Sometimes y'all bring out the best in me, so thank you.
Okay. Clearly delirious. Someone tell me to go back to sleep. I know all your voices chatting away will sound like a river singing sweet songs.
xo
Dead .... and Grateful?
There can only be one explanation, as far as I'm concerned.
Now, signing off until we all finally share hands near the Fountain.
@Happy Fathers Day....
Coffee is on....
Summers here and the time is right for....
All these inspirational messages.....
What's that Sarge?
The title of Stella's last post reminded you of what?
Why don't you just play it then....
Hear that whistle, it's six o'clock
(Don't let go, don't let go)
Come on baby, it's time to rock
(Don't let go, don't let go)
I'm so happy to have you here
(Don't let go, don't let go)
Keeps me grinnin' from ear to ear
(Don't let go, don't let go)
Ooh wee
This feeling's killing me
Awe, shucks
I wouldn't stop for a million bucks
I love you so
Just hold me tight and don't let go
(Don't let go, don't let go)
Hold me tight and don't let go
(Don't let go, don't let go)
Thunder, lightning, wind and rain
Love is humming inside my brain
There's one thing baby, that keeps me crying
You been keeping your lips from mine
.....and a Happy belated Birthday to Stella's mom.....
@grateful dads
Wanna wish you all a happy and special day today- may it be filled with laughter and love!
@sweet hitchhiker
Felonius my old friendStep on in and let me shake your hand
So glad that you're here again
For one more time
Let your madness run with mine
Streets still unseen we'll find somehow
No time is better than now
Tell me where are you driving
Midnight cruiser
Where is your bounty
Of fortune and fame
I am another
Gentlemen loser
Drive me to Harlem
Or somewhere the same
The world that we used to know
People tell me it don't turn no more
The places we used to go
Familiar faces that ain't smilin' like before
The time of our time has come and gone
I fear we been waiting too long
@Leadbelly....the real story
Last Saturday night, I got married,Me and my wife settled down
Now me and my wife are parted,
I'm gonna take another stroll downtown
Sometimes I live in the country,
Sometimes I live in town
Sometimes I take a great notion,
To jump into the river and drown
I love Irene, God knows I do,
I'll love her till the seas run dry
But if Irene should turn me down,
I'd take the morphine and die
Stop rambling, stop your gambling,
Stop staying out late at night
Go home to your wife and your family,
Stay there by your fireside bright
So goodnight Irene, goodnight.....
I'll see you in my dreams...
stayin' afloat
Hey there Daydreamers,
Trying to keep our heads above water here in the Mississippi river Valley
We may need a boat to row before too long.
Hopefully the bus has oars!
We managed to hike 9.5 miles in the St. Francois mtns but had to turn back early, due to high water
Biding our time in the river city before we journey to the windy city.
Man the sails dus briver the winds are high!
@Stayin' Alive.....afloat....whatever....
High water risin’—risin’ night and dayAll the gold and silver are bein' stolen away
Big Joe Turner lookin’ east and west
From the dark room of his mind
He made it to Kansas City
Twelfth Street and Vine
Nothin' standing there
High water everywhere
High water risin’, the shacks are slidin’ down
Folks lose their possessions—folks are leaving town
Bertha Mason shook it—broke it
Then she hung it on a wall
Says, “You’re dancin’ with whom they tell you to
Or you don’t dance at all”
It’s tough out there
High water everywhere
I got a cravin’ love for blazing speed
Got a hopped-up Mustang Ford
Jump into the wagon, love, throw your panties on the board
I can write you poems, make a strong man lose his mind
I’m no pig without a wig
I hope you treat me kind
Things are breakin’ up out there
High water everywhere
High water risin’, six inches ’bove my head
Coffins droppin’ in the street
Like balloons made out of lead
Water pourin’ into Vicksburg, don’t know what I’m goin' to do
“Don’t reach out for me,” she said
“Can’t you see I’m drownin’ too?”
It’s rough out there
High water everywhere
Well, George Lewis told the Englishman, the Italian and the Jew
“You can’t open your mind, boys
To every conceivable point of view”
They got Charles Darwin trapped out there on Highway Five
Judge says to the High Sheriff,
“I want him dead or alive
Either one, I don’t care”
High water everywhere
The Cuckoo is a pretty bird, she warbles as she flies
I’m preachin’ the Word of God
I’m puttin’ out your eyes
I asked Fat Nancy for somethin' to eat, she said, “Take it off the shelf—
As great as you are a man
You’ll never be greater than yourself”
I told her I didn’t really care
High water everywhere
I’m gettin’ up in the morning—I believe I’ll dust my broom
Keeping away from the women
I’m givin’ ’em lots of room
Thunder rolling over Clarkesdale, everything is looking blue
I just can’t be happy, love
Unless you’re happy too
It’s bad out there
High water everywhere.......
Just paddle on into Chicago....
Monday morning you sure look fine
Friday I've got traveling on my mind. .
Well show week is here and I woke up way before the little bed clock suggested. Bruce Hornsby we're coming to see you! Roll them fingers gleefully cross them keys, keep the guys from bickering onstage. You gonna be my hero, and that's just the way it is. Just exactly perfect.
@Can't trust that day...
Swannie is up, coffee is on....
Sarge point that antenna in the direction of Bay and Bloor....
I was tuning in the shine on the light night dial
doing anything my radio advised
with every one of those late night stations
playing songs bringing tears to me eyes
I was seriously thinking about hiding the receiver
when the switch broke 'cause it's old
They're saying things that I can hardly believe.
They really think we're getting out of control.
Radio is a sound salvation
Radio is cleaning up the nation
They say you better listen to the voice of reason
But they don't give you any choice
'cause they think that it's treason.
So you had better do as you are told.
You better listen to the radio.
I wanna bite the hand that feeds me.
I wanna bite that hand so badly.
I want to make them wish they'd never seen me.
Some of my friends sit around every evening
and they worry about the times ahead
But everybody else is overwhelmed by indifference
and the promise of an early bed
You either shut up or get cut up;
they don't wanna hear about it.
It's only inches on the reel-to-reel.
And the radio is in the hands of such a lot of fools
tryin' to anaesthetise the way that you feel
Wonderful radio
Marvelous radio
Wonderful radio
Radio, radio...
Happy Monday yo....
In 14 days it will all be a dream we dreamed one afternoon back in January....
@were they ever here at all?
they'll know us from our pie tins, one slice of lemon custard remains.
...and they kept on dancin'...
Good morning Rich and Chris!
Also, thanks for the happy F-day wishes from those to sent them, let me pass that along to all the other dads as well. I had a fine day yesterday, my son took me to see the new Mad Max. Pretty frikkin' cool movie, although not much on plot. Nice to spend it with my 19 year old son we had a good ol' time.
