A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. Please name the new thread, "Sunshine Daydreamers Keep on Truckin'" If you can include the last 3999 posts, that'd be swellll...just kidding, of course. But if you could include the last 17 (make that 20, see the above 3 hangers-on and ne'er do-wells) or so of the posts from #1, first above written going back to and including July 4th the Happy Anniversary one, that should give one and all some context, as that was the day 2 years ago, when we first met each other for real, where we broke bread and watermelons at the finest pizza pic-a-nic this side of the Rockies, and whence we collectively enjoyed a grand and magnificent band celebrating all good things. Thank Yew veddy much, Oh Kind One.

We're very intrigued by the Playing in the Sand gig come February and will most likely pony-up. Spoke to a dude at CID today in Philly who's been at all the gigs there (D&C, DMB, etc...) and he said is simply knockout gorgeous and as intimate a live beach concert setting as you can imagine. Multiply that by three shows and "all-inclusive" amenities and the the money grab rolls-on... Anyone else contemplating?

philbobbybillymickeybruuuuucejeffntrey!!!! Mary...a blast.... Just made 70 new best buds over pizza and pie n Oreos and more.... Sarge sez sorry you couldn't be here.... And wants to serenade you.....on three.... So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell, blue skies from pain. Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil? Do you think you can tell? Did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts? Hot ashes for trees? Hot air for a cool breeze? Cold comfort for change? Did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage? How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year, Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.

'cause we really do wish you were here. The bus finally let us all off at Balboa & LSD in a Shady Grove. The pic-a-nic exceeded all expectations. Tony was a model of organization, geomasterofceremoniesmeister, Klang was happy, and what all. I would not have missed it for all the tea in China. Love, K

Final morning message.... What a show.....gotta rest up... Cuz Tomorrow I'm on a boat! Coffee is on.... Dreamers....love you all...some a bit more but you know who you are and I digress.... Holly you left a lasting impression on me.... Tami,Katniss,Chandra,Lisa,Adam, totes, boo boo, millers horse,Klang,Swannie,Loblaw,Saundra,Jeffs, other Greg....ah shit you get the idea.... Tony,Geo.....Laverne and Shirley Stanley ,pug, and Sgt Pupper We rocked the bus....bitches! And if there is a rock n roll heaven I wanna share it with y'all all together now... If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung, Would you hear my voice come through the music? Would you hold it near as it were your own? It's a hand-me-down, the thoughts are broken, Perhaps they're better left unsung. I don't know, don't really care Let there be songs to fill the air. Ripple in still water, When there is no pebble tossed, Nor wind to blow. Reach out your hand if your cup be empty, If your cup is full may it be again, Let it be known there is a fountain, That was not made by the hands of men. There is a road, no simple highway, Between the dawn and the dark of night, And if you go no one may follow, That path is for your steps alone. Ripple in still water, When there is no pebble tossed, Nor wind to blow. You, who choose to lead, must follow But if you fall you fall alone. If you should stand then who's to guide you? If I knew the way I would take you home. La dee da da da, La da da da da, Da da da, da da, da da da da da La da da da, La da da, da da, La da da da, La da, da da. Next stop the moon...but I would rather be with you!!!!! BE WITH YOU!

I've been putting off this note, because I can't find the words, and the lyrics of another just won't do. It was a magical weekend, and I wish to thank you all for making it that much more. Each one of you brought something special and unique into my life. I hoped your loved our city, as much as I loved having you here. rgr, there is a little place in my heart forever yours. Love, K. p.s. to the owners of Sect. 110, Row 1, Seats 1 and 2 - we hope you were where you wanted to be, because we enjoyed your seats for the second set Sat & Sun. Thank you! p.p.s. from Sect. 445, Row 34 (the very last row) -- the fireworks Sunday were INCREDIBLE! p.p.p.s. At 1:50 p.m. on Monday afternoon, the skies are darkening, and it's about to storm. What, you guys took my sunshine away? Bye, now.

With everyones comments....just too hard to "turn-off" what we've all ate, slept and drank for the past nearly six months leading up to this past weekend. WOW !!!!!!!!!!!! And for all the complaints folks had in one way, shape or another (yours truly included) you have to tip the cap to Shapiro for what was an absolutely flawless and way, way, way over-the-top production of the shows. Lamp post signs Roses upon entrance day one Daily programs (w/ night before pictures) Sound, stage and lighting like I've never seen Fireworks on the 4th that were the best I've ever seen Bonus works on Sunday night - WOW !! On and on...I know I missed a ton. And I'm STILL TIRED...lol. So happy and grateful for this entire experience - we did it gang - what fun :-) I'm compiling my pics now and will send out in a mail blast. LOVE TO ALL !!

Hey there Daydreamers, how goes it? It's so hard to come back down from that weekend high we have all just experienced. I never wanted that feeling to end. I am so emotional right now, on the verge of tears. Sitting at my desk trying to get back to work but little memories keep flooding my mind... We packed up camp yesterday...cause it looked like rain. The weather was so gorgeous the entire weekend. Just exactly perfect sums it up correctly Jeff! The shows were more than I could have ever imagined. I wish I could have been born sooner to get to be a part of this earlier in the game. No amount of money is worth the experiences I took in over this past weekend. I loved meeting everyone and so hope that we can get together again soon! I feel eternally Grateful for being a part of the Grateful Dead Experience and I am now a true blue Sunshine Daydreamer. Thank you Grateful Dead for a real good time! Matt took great photos of the pic a nic and all the weekends festivities and will get them out to you asap! So who likes Baseball? Cause the STL Cardinals are having a Grateful Dead Baseball night in September where they will give out shirts to everyone that has all the dates and venues they played in STL. Great time for a meet up! Centrally Located! Meet me in Saint Louis! Love you Guys!!!!!!

There's no place like home but there's also no place like a Dead show...and I think I'd rather be at a Dead show! Gonna listen to Jerry on Broadway tonight. Wanted to get settled in and put it on the surround sound in the living room. Relax and enjoy from the comfort of home. Took FOREVER to get out of Chitown, they cant drive for shit up there. They need to come south and we'll show em how its done! Best time of my life during the weekend! Cheers :)

When I see my inner city child, I'll be walkin' on a cloud. 'Cause I'm a fool for the city, I'm a fool for the city, I'm a fool for the city, I'm a fool for the city... I'm a fool, (Fool for the city) A fool for the city, (Fool for the city) I'm a fool, (Fool for the city) A fool for the city, (Fool for the city) I'm a fool, (Fool for the city) A crazy fool, (Fool for the city) I'm a fool yea, (Fool for the city) A fool for the city, (Fool for the city) (Fool for the city) (Fool for the city) I ain't no country boy, woo! yeah I'm retired, but you just made me smile..... Let's here some Ringo..... Ev'ry time i see your face, It reminds me of the places we used to go. But all i got is a photograph And i realise you're not coming back anymore. I thought i'd make it the day you went away, But i can't make it Till you come home again to stay-yi-yay-yi-yay. I can't get used to living here, While my heart is broke, my tears i cried for you. I want you here to have and hold, As the years go by and we grow old and grey. Now you're expecting me to live without you, But that's not something that i'm looking forward to. I can't get used to living here, While my heart is broke, my tears i cried for you. I want you here to have and hold, As the years go by and we grow old and grey. Ev'ry time i see your face, It reminds me of the places we used to go. But all i got is a photograph And i realise you're not coming back anymore. Ev'ry time i see your face, It reminds me of the places we used to go. But all i got is a photograph And i realise you're not coming back anymore. Ev'ry time i see your face, It reminds me of the places we used to go. But all i got is a photograph And i realise you're not. Beautiful photos of memories we will never forget..... Thanks Holly n Matt ....... Almost deleted the email til I figured it out.....

Ye old roadrunner never had a chance...beep beep indeed. With Liketohike transitioning to Liketobrive and the sing-along we all had over the past weekend, coupled with the thousands of photos the daydreamers took, and hundreds of wonderful memories, and dozens of new pizzas, packages or Oreos, watermelons and licorice bags, all we need to do is sing the following in 4 part harmony:: Oh! We ain`t got a barrel of money Maybe we`re ragged and funny But we`ll travel along Singing a song Side by side I don`t know what`s a-comin` tomorrow Maybe it`s trouble and sorrow But we`ll travel the road Sharing our load Side by side through all kinds of weather What if the sky should fall Just as long as we`re together It really doesn`t matter at all When they`ve all had their quarrels and parted We`ll be the same as we started Just traveling along Singing a song Side by side That's in the People's key of G by the way. And pass rjrrrjrrr a seegar, pat him on the back, and shake his hand. g

Picture yourself when you're getting old, Sat by the fireside a-pondering on[?]. Picture book, pictures of your mama, taken by your papa a long time ago. If I get stoned all night long it's just a family tradition.... Hit me Sarge.... Now we take our time, so nonchalant And spend our nights so bon vivant We dress our days in silken robes The money comes The money goes We know it's all a passing phase We light our lamps for atmosphere And hang our hopes on chandeliers We're going wrong, we're gaining weight We're sleeping long and far too late And so it's time to change our ways But I've loved these days Now as we indulge in things refined We hide our hearts from harder times A string of pearls, a foreign car Oh we can only go so far On caviar and cabernet We drown our doubts in dry champagne And soothe our souls with fine cocaine I don't know why I even care We'll get so high and get nowhere We'll have to change our jaded ways But I've loved these days So before we end and then begin We'll drink a toast to how it's been A few more hours to be complete A few more nights on satin sheets A few more times that I can say I've loved these days

Time is never time at all You can never ever leave without leaving a piece of youth And our lives are forever changed We will never be the same The more you change the less you feel Believe, believe in me, believe That life can change, that you're not stuck in vain We're not the same, we're different tonight Tonight, so bright Tonight And you know you're never sure But you're sure you could be right If you held yourself up to the light And the embers never fade in your city by the lake The place where you were born Believe, believe in me, believe In the resolute urgency of now And if you believe there's not a chance tonight Tonight, so bright Tonight We'll crucify the insincere tonight We'll make things right, we'll feel it all tonight We'll find a way to offer up the night tonight The indescribable moments of your life tonight The impossible is possible tonight Believe in me as I believe in you, tonight I believe in the Grateful Dead and all the Daydreamers! The impossible IS possible

I keep repeating in my head this morning, "this time last week we were on a flight to Chicago..." and I'm sure from now until Monday I'll be repeating that a lot..."this time last week..." Wish we could turn the clock back. I really hope we can find a way to keep this momentum going - it would be so great to have another "event" to plan, whatever it may be. Don't want to lose touch with any of you. No way. Never have I felt such a deep connection to people I had never met before. It really was very special in every way. Thank you, all, again for a weekend I will never forget. The music was incredible -- the connection and the love between us all was even better. Miss you guys. Anita

Rain, rain go away, come on around another day...... Sarge, stop paddling and pump up the volume, Miami wants to play..... I got a little change in my pocket going ching-a-ling-a-ling Wanna call you on the telephone, baby, give you a ring But each time we talk, I get the same old thing Always, "No huggee, no kissee until I get a wedding ring" My honey, my baby, don't put my love upon no shelf She said, "Don't hand me no lines and keep your hands to yourself" Ooh, baby, baby, baby, why you gonna treat me this way? You know I'm still your loverboy, I still feel the same way That's when she told me a story 'bout free milk and a cow And said, "No huggee, no kissee until I get a wedding vow" My honey, my baby, don't put my love upon no shelf She said, "Don't hand me no lines and keep your hands to yourself" You see, I wanted her real bad and I was about to give in That's when she started talking about true love, started talking about sin I said, "Honey, I'll live with you for the rest of my life" She said, "No huggee, no kissee until you make me a wife" My honey, my baby, don't put my love upon no shelf She said, "Don't hand me no lines and keep your hands to yourself"

My time coming, any day, don't worry bout me, no Been so long I felt this way, ain't in no hurry, no Rainbows end down that highway where ocean breezes blow My time coming, voices saying, they tell me where to go Don't worry bout me, no no, don't worry bout me, no And I'm in no hurry, no no no, I know where to go. California, preaching on the burning shore California, I'll be knocking on the golden door Like an angel, standing in a shaft of light Rising up to paradise, I know I'm gonna shine My time coming, anyday, don't worry bout me, no It's gonna be just like they say, them voices tell me so Seems so long I felt this way and time sure passin' slow Still I know I lead the way, they tell me where I go Don't worry bout me, no no, don't worry bout me, no And I'm in no hurry, no no no, I know where to go California, a prophet on the burning shore California, I'll be knocking on the golden door Like an angel, standing in a shaft of light Rising up to paradise, I know I'm gonna shine You've all been asleep, You would not believe me Them voices telling me, You will soon receive me We're standing on the beach, The sea will part before me (Fire wheel burning in the air) And you will follow me, And we will ride to glory (Way up the middle of the air) And I'll call down thunder And speak the same And my word fills the sky with flame And might and glory gonna be my name And men gonna light my way My time coming, anyday, don't worry bout me, no It's gonna be just like they say, them voices tell me so Seems so long I felt this way and time sure passin slow My time coming, anyday, don't worry about me, no Don't worry about me...

Hey look here in Rock n Roll heaven.... It's John Prine....hop onboard John....what you want Bonnie to sing one...? Ok, Sarge, clear the stage...Ms.Raitt has something she wants to say..... shhhhhhh... I am an old woman Named after my mother An old man is another Child who's grown old If dreams were thunder Lightning was desire This old house it would've burned down A long time ago [Chorus:] Make me an angel That flies from montgomery Make me a poster Of an old rodeo Just give me one thing That i can hold on to To believe in this livin' Is just a hard way to go When i was a young girl I had me a cowboy It wasn't much to look at It was a free ramblin' man There was a long time No matter how i tried The years they just rolled by Like a broken down dance [Chorus] There's flies in the kitchen I can hear them there buzzin' And i ain't done nothing since i woke up today But how the hell can a person Go on to work in the morning To come home in the evening And have nothing to say [Chorus]

You were a Floydhead.... I'm just obscured by clouds...... The memories of a man in his old age Are the deeds of a man in his prime. You suffle in gloom in the sickroom And talk to yourself till you die. Life is a short, warm moment And death is a long cold rest. You get your chance to try In the twinkling of an eye: Eighty years, with luck, or even less. So all aboard for the American tour, And maybe you'll make it to the top. And mind how you go. I can tell you, because I know. You may find it hard to get off. You are the angel of death And I am the dead man's son. And he died like a mole in a fox hole. And everyone is still in the run. And who is the master of fox hounds? And who says the hunt has begun? And who calls the tune in the courtroom? And who beats the funeral drum? The memories of a man in his old age Are the deeds of a man in his prime. You suffle in gloom in the sickroom And talk to yourself till you die.

I've always found that quite easy provided the mood is right...but that's just me.... ...especially since Mick n Keith and Co. Are comin to da Buff in two daze...love me some Exile on Main Street Stones...Fred n Barney! I hear you talking when I'm on the street, Your mouth don't move but I can hear you speak. What's the matter with the boy? He don't come around no more, Is he checking out for sure? Is he gonna close the door on me? And I'm always hearing voices on the street, I want to shout, but I can't hardly speak. I was making love last night To a dancer friend of mine. I can't seem to stay in step, 'Cause she come ev'ry time that she pirouettes over me. And I only get my rocks off while I'm dreaming, I only get my rocks off while I'm sleeping. I'm zipping through the days at lightning speed. Plug in, flush out and fire the fuckin' feed. Heading for the overload, Splattered on the dusty road, Kick me like you've kicked before, I can't even feel the pain no more. But I only get my rocks off while I'm dreaming, I only get my rocks off while I'm sleeping. Feel so hypnotized, can't describe the scene. Feel so mesmerized all that inside me. The sunshine bores the daylights out of me. Chasing shadows moonlight mystery. Headed for the overload, Splattered on the dirty road, Kick me like you've kicked before, I can't even feel the pain no more. But I only get my rocks off while I'm dreaming, I only get my rocks off while I'm sleeping.

hey rrrgrrr, get your mind out of the gutter.... Oh wait...mine's there too... You know, there’s two ol’ maids layin’ in the bed One picked herself up an’ the other one, she said: “Get your rocks off! Get your rocks off! (Get ’em off!) Get your rocks off! (Get ’em off!) Get your rocks off-a me! (Get ’em off!)” Well, you know, there late one night up on Blueberry Hill One man turned to the other man and said, with a blood-curdlin’ chill, he said: “Get your rocks off! (Get ’em off!) Get your rocks off! (Get ’em off!) Get your rocks off! (Get ’em off!) Get your rocks off-a me! (Get ’em off!)” Well, you know, we was layin’ down around Mink Muscle Creek One man said to the other man, he began to speak, he said: “Get your rocks off! (Get ’em off!) Get your rocks off! (Get ’em off!) Get your rocks off! (Get ’em off!) Get your rocks off-a me! (Get ’em off!)” Well, you know, we was cruisin’ down the highway in a Greyhound bus All kinds-a children in the side road, they was hollerin’ at us, sayin’: “Get your rocks off! (Get ’em off!) Get your rocks off! (Get ’em off!) Get your rocks off! (Get ’em off!) Get your rocks off-a me!”

Ride on Josephine...ride on.....I mean Holly...... What a long strange trip it has been.... My final post....life beckons.....all before this was but a dream.... Ain't it just like the night to play tricks when you're tryin' to be so quiet ? We sit here stranded, though we're all doin our best to deny it And Louise holds a handfull of rain, tempting you to defy it Lights flicker from the opposite loft In this room the heat pipes just cough The country music station plays soft But there's nothing really nothing to turn of Just Louise and her lover so entwined And these visions of Johanna that conquer my mind. In the empty lot where the ladies play blindman's bluff with the key chain And the all-night girls they whisper of escapades out on the D-train We can hear the night watcman click his flashlight Ask himself if it's him or them that's really insane Louise she's all right she's just near She's delicate and seems like the mirror But she just makes it all too concise and too clear That Johanna's not here The ghost of electricity howls in the bones of her face Where these visions of Johanna have now taken my place. Now, little boy lost, he takes himself so seriously He brags of his misery, he likes to live dangerously And when bringing her name up He speaks of a farewell kiss to me He's sure got a lotta gall to be so useless and all Muttering small talk at the wall while I'm in the hall Oh, how can I explain ? It's so hard to get on And these visions of Johanna they kept me up past the dawn. Inside the museums, Infinity goes up on trial Voices echo this is what salvation must be like after a while But Mona Lisa musta had the highway blues You can tell by the way she smiles See the primitive wallflower freeze When the jelly-faced women all sneeze Hear the one with the mustache say, "Jeeze I can't find my knees" Oh, jewels and binoculars hang from the head of the mule But these visions of Johanna, they make it all seem so cruel. The peddler now speaks to the countess who's pretending to care for him Saying, "Name me someone that's not a parasite and I'll go out and say a prayer for him" But like Louise always says "Ya can't look at much, can ya man " As she, herself prepares for him And Madonna, she still has not showed We see this empty cage now corrode Where her cape of the stage once had flowed The fiddler, he now steps to the road He writes ev'rything's been returned which was owed On the back of the fish truck that loads While my conscience explodes The harmonicas play the skeleton keys and the rain And these visions of Johanna are now all that remain. (I can be reached via text and email should you so choose)

it's been fun it's been real fun! There's a sad sort of clanging from the clock in the hall And the bells in the church too. And up in the bedroom, an absurd little bird Is popping up to say, "Cuckoo cuckoo!" Regretfully they tell us but firmly they compel us To say goodbye to you. So long, farewell, auch wiedersehen, good night. I hate to go and leave this pretty sight. So long, farewell auf wiedersehen, adieu Adieu, adieu, to you and you and you. So long, farewell, au revoir, auch wiedersehen. I'd like to stay and taste my first champagne Yes? "no." So long, farewell, auch wiedersehen, goodbye I leave and heave a sigh and say goodbye I'm glad to go, I cannot tell a lie I flit, I float, I fleetly flee, I fly The sun has gone to bed and so must I So long, farewell, auch wiedersehen, goodbye Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye What am I going to do without my dus briver...sob.. sob... tears....

I am back and still recovering. Back to work yesterday. WHEW! I still can't believe what I experienced in Chicago (and Santa Clara). Sorry it took so long for my return. I have so much to say but it will have to come in increments. It was a daunting but exciting task to undertake alone, but of course I know oh so well that I was the furthest thing from being alone with all the dreamers and other kind folks I met along the way. Had the trip been for any other reason I might have really felt alone in Chicago. Meeting some of the dreamers in SC and then more (wish I could have met you all) in Chicago I felt a "strange" sense of belonging in this community (yes that's what we are a mini community inside the deadhead community) that is pure magic. I don't have any other explanation. The kindest friendliest people in the world are the deadheads and I saw this kindness and comfort throughout the entire trip. Thank you everyone in SD for the mayoral red carpet, and thank you to the entire deadhead community for the crazy kinship we all have and that was so evident in all these shows during my travels...

Got me through those early years - way to go out... Holly is right - I do not believe there is an exit on this thing, but maybe a window. We'll leave it open for all y'all who are saying "goodbye." "Never Say Good Bye" Twilight on the frozen lake A north wind about to break On the footprints in the snow Silence down below. You're beautiful beyond words You're beautiful to me You can make me cry Never say goodbye. Because my dreams are made Of iron and steel With a big boquet of roses hanging down From the heavens to the ground. The crashing waves roll over me As I stand upon the sand And wait for you to come Grab hold of my hand. Oh baby, baby, baby blue You'll change your last name too You turned your hair to brown Love to see it hanging down.

(I am not saying good-bye more of a "'til next time" from me.) From the moment I sat down at the airport bar in Sacramento, waiting to come to Chicago, it had already begun. A very nice fellow who saw my dead shirt came up and sat next to me and we chatted, talked about SC and the upcoming shows. The magic was just beginning for Chicago for me (SD meet, magical show and rainbow had really started the whole thing June 27). I guess the magic was just on hold for a few days. But boy did it really kick in. Got in to CHI on time from my non-stop flight, caught a shuttle, got to the hotel and checked in half hour early. Got to the gig in time no problem. Let me say if anyone had a doubt about the staff at Soldier Field, that idea was squashed immediately. They were honestly the nicest people I have ever patronized at any concert or stadium event. I was completely blown away by their professionalism and customer service. Had great customer service at my hotel as well. Everyone I met along the way was just awesome, I couldn't stop smiling, laughing and having a great time....

...I was bit hungover as I had a REAL GOOD time at Friday's show. Super energetic rock and roll show that was. Hung out with Chris and Jeff (Mortatone), had a fantastic time! Feeling not so special I made it to the picnic about 20-30 minutes late. What a great feeling it was to go around and meet the group. What a great group of people we are! It truly was an amazing time and what a highlight for me personally. I never did anything quite like this before, meet people I have chatted with on the internet. It felt like home and I had known these people all my adult life. It really was a special moment. The field museum with the Jazz and Colors was off the hook (right after picnic). One trio had a sax that sounded like Stan Getz I shit you not (a personal jazz favorite of mine)! I told him that and he was very humbled by my compliment. can't stop smiling. Huge museum, amazing! GD50 exhibit mindblowing also with the tiger guitar (tears) and the envelopes and memorabilia! Sensory overload...
