Mary...a blast....
Just made 70 new best buds over pizza and pie n Oreos and more....
Sarge sez sorry you couldn't be here....
And wants to serenade you.....on three....
So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell, blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
Did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
Did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found?
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.
I'll second that emotion...
'cause we really do wish you were here.
The bus finally let us all off at Balboa & LSD in a Shady Grove. The pic-a-nic exceeded all expectations. Tony was a model of organization, geomasterofceremoniesmeister, Klang was happy, and what all.
I would not have missed it for all the tea in China.
Love,
K
Sweet Fancy Moses....
Final morning message....
What a show.....gotta rest up... Cuz Tomorrow I'm on a boat!
Coffee is on....
Dreamers....love you all...some a bit more but you know who you are and I digress....

Tony,Geo.....Laverne and Shirley
Stanley ,pug,and Sgt Pupper
We rocked the bus....bitches!
And if there is a rock n roll heaven I wanna share it with y'all
all together now...
If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine
And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung,
Would you hear my voice come through the music?
Would you hold it near as it were your own?
It's a hand-me-down, the thoughts are broken,
Perhaps they're better left unsung.
I don't know, don't really care
Let there be songs to fill the air.
Ripple in still water,
When there is no pebble tossed,
Nor wind to blow.
Reach out your hand if your cup be empty,
If your cup is full may it be again,
Let it be known there is a fountain,
That was not made by the hands of men.
There is a road, no simple highway,
Between the dawn and the dark of night,
And if you go no one may follow,
That path is for your steps alone.
Ripple in still water,
When there is no pebble tossed,
Nor wind to blow.
You, who choose to lead, must follow
But if you fall you fall alone.
If you should stand then who's to guide you?
If I knew the way I would take you home.
La dee da da da,
La da da da da,
Da da da, da da, da da da da da
La da da da,
La da da, da da,
La da da da,
La da, da da.
Next stop the moon...but I would rather be with you!!!!!
BE WITH YOU!
In the attics of my life......
....I dreamed of you....
Sunshine Daydreamers
Good night Irene I'll see you in my dreams!
Stanley say goodnight to Kristine for me.....
Come on Sarge, gotta drop of ba dus....some Phish head offered me a $20 dollar bill...can't turn it down....
And in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make....
Back Down the Mine
The mine seems not to have changed, but EVERYTHING else has.
Y'all come back now, ya hear ?
I've been putting off this note, because I can't find the words, and the lyrics of another just won't do.
It was a magical weekend, and I wish to thank you all for making it
that much more. Each one of you brought something special and unique
into my life.
I hoped your loved our city, as much as I loved having you here.
rgr, there is a little place in my heart forever yours.
Love,
K.
p.s. to the owners of Sect. 110, Row 1, Seats 1 and 2 - we hope you were where you wanted to be, because we enjoyed your seats for the second set Sat & Sun. Thank you!
p.p.s. from Sect. 445, Row 34 (the very last row) -- the fireworks Sunday were INCREDIBLE!
p.p.p.s. At 1:50 p.m. on Monday afternoon, the skies are darkening, and it's about to storm. What, you guys took my sunshine away?
Bye, now.
Pretty hard to just "unplug"
But alas, gotta head back to the mines tomorrow :-(
@ Unplugging
I'm still high on the whole experience! So tired I can barely type but had to thank you to everyone for sharing the love for these past months! It was terrific to meet you all!

I`m back in the saddle again
Out where a friend is a friend
Where the longhorn cattle feed
On the lowly gypsum weed
Back in the saddle again
Ridin` the range once more
Totin` my old .44
Where you sleep out every night
And the only law is right
Back in the saddle again
Whoopi-ty-aye-oh
Rockin` to and fro
Back in the saddle again
Whoopi-ty-aye-yay
I go my way
Back in the saddle again
I`m back in the saddle again
Out where a friend is a friend
Where the longhorn cattle feed
On the lowly gypsum weed
Back in the saddle again
Ridin` the range once more
Totin` my old .44
Where you sleep out every night
And the only law is right
Back in the saddle again
Whoopi-ty-aye-oh
Rockin` to and fro
Back in the saddle again
Whoopi-ty-aye-yay
I go my way
Back in the saddle again
Think I'll have me a sarsaparilla!

I agree...
With everyones comments....just too hard to "turn-off" what we've all ate, slept and drank for the past nearly six months leading up to this past weekend. WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!
And for all the complaints folks had in one way, shape or another (yours truly included) you have to tip the cap to Shapiro for what was an absolutely flawless and way, way, way over-the-top production of the shows.
Lamp post signs
Roses upon entrance day one
Daily programs (w/ night before pictures)
Sound, stage and lighting like I've never seen
Fireworks on the 4th that were the best I've ever seen
Bonus works on Sunday night - WOW !!
On and on...I know I missed a ton. And I'm STILL TIRED...lol.
So happy and grateful for this entire experience - we did it gang - what fun :-)
I'm compiling my pics now and will send out in a mail blast.
LOVE TO ALL !!
Meanwhile, back at the ranch. . .
What a beautiful, shining dream it was! And the Pic-A-Nic! Avatars stopping faces just to shake their hands! . . . Thank you Sunshine Daydreamers one and all!
And THANK YOU GRATEFUL DEAD! BRAVISSIMO! JUST EXACTLY PERFECT!
@ Reality Bites
Hey there Daydreamers, how goes it?
It's so hard to come back down from that weekend high we have all just experienced. I never wanted that feeling to end. I am so emotional right now, on the verge of tears. Sitting at my desk trying to get back to work but little memories keep flooding my mind...
We packed up camp yesterday...cause it looked like rain. The weather was so gorgeous the entire weekend.
Just exactly perfect sums it up correctly Jeff! The shows were more than I could have ever imagined. I wish I could have been born sooner to get to be a part of this earlier in the game. No amount of money is worth the experiences I took in over this past weekend.
I loved meeting everyone and so hope that we can get together again soon! I feel eternally Grateful for being a part of the Grateful Dead Experience and I am now a true blue Sunshine Daydreamer.
Thank you Grateful Dead for a real good time!
Matt took great photos of the pic a nic and all the weekends festivities and will get them out to you asap!
So who likes Baseball? Cause the STL Cardinals are having a Grateful Dead Baseball night in September where they will give out shirts to everyone that has all the dates and venues they played in STL. Great time for a meet up! Centrally Located! Meet me in Saint Louis!
Love you Guys!!!!!!
@Ellie Mae
Hey Miami...
How was Jerry on Broadway?
I hear it was sublime....
Glad you're home safe...work sucks....
@ work sucks
There's no place like home but there's also no place like a Dead show...and I think I'd rather be at a Dead show!
Gonna listen to Jerry on Broadway tonight.
Wanted to get settled in and put it on the surround sound in the living room. Relax and enjoy from the comfort of home.
Took FOREVER to get out of Chitown, they cant drive for shit up there. They need to come south and we'll show em how its done!
Best time of my life during the weekend!
Cheers :)
Da Bus and Further Adventures Abound
I hear the Bus a comin'; it's rollin' 'round the bend...
And I never had so much fun with the Daydreamers since I don't know when
I'm stuck reading emails and forum posts and time keeps draggin' on...
But that Bus keeps rollin' on down to San Antone..
Let's hop on and go somewhere...who wants to brive?
Keys in the ignition....ready set go...
I'll just hop back on right here
138 new posts - are going to have to wait....
I have to hop off in Sebastopol for an overnight Goddess Wedding Ceremony (bridal shower hosted by bohemian aunties) for my local girlfriend. I suppose if anyone were to call me a hippy, today would be the day (medicine wheel, squat anywhere, sleeping under stars... ).
I'll hop back on tomorrow, when there's 174 posts to read through. See you all in San Rafael and please tell me -
What is a hippy?

Goin' to the city, got you on my mind,
Country sure is pretty, I'll leave it all behind,
This is my decision, I'm comin' home to stay this time.
'Cause I'm a fool for the city, I'm a fool for the city,
Fool for the city, I'm a fool for the city.
Breathin' all the clean air, sittin' in the sun,
When I get my train fare, I'll get up and run.
I'm ready for the city, air pollution here I come!
'Cause I'm a fool for the city, I'm a fool for the city,
I'm a fool for the city, I'm a fool for the city.
I ain't no country boy, I'm just a homesick man.
I'm gonna hit the grit just as fast as I can.
I'll get off on Main Street, step into the crowd,
Sidewalk under my feet, yeah, traffic's good and loud.
When I see my inner city child, I'll be walkin' on a cloud.
'Cause I'm a fool for the city, I'm a fool for the city,
I'm a fool for the city, I'm a fool for the city...
I'm a fool, (Fool for the city) A fool for the city, (Fool for the city)
I'm a fool, (Fool for the city) A fool for the city, (Fool for the city)
I'm a fool, (Fool for the city) A crazy fool, (Fool for the city)
I'm a fool yea, (Fool for the city) A fool for the city, (Fool for the city)
(Fool for the city) (Fool for the city)
I ain't no country boy, woo! (Fool for the city) (Fool for the city)
Woo! (Fool for the city) (Fool for the city)
A Fool for the city (Fool for the city) (Fool for the city)
Whoo! (Fool for the city) (Fool for the city) ...
@Matt n Holly
yeah I'm retired, but you just made me smile.....
Let's here some Ringo.....
Ev'ry time i see your face,
It reminds me of the places we used to go.
But all i got is a photograph
And i realise you're not coming back anymore.
I thought i'd make it the day you went away,
But i can't make it
Till you come home again to stay-yi-yay-yi-yay.
I can't get used to living here,
While my heart is broke, my tears i cried for you.
I want you here to have and hold,
As the years go by and we grow old and grey.
Now you're expecting me to live without you,
But that's not something that i'm looking forward to.
I can't get used to living here,
While my heart is broke, my tears i cried for you.
I want you here to have and hold,
As the years go by and we grow old and grey.
Ev'ry time i see your face,
It reminds me of the places we used to go.
But all i got is a photograph
And i realise you're not coming back anymore.
Ev'ry time i see your face,
It reminds me of the places we used to go.
But all i got is a photograph
And i realise you're not coming back anymore.
Ev'ry time i see your face,
It reminds me of the places we used to go.
But all i got is a photograph
And i realise you're not.
Beautiful photos of memories we will never forget.....
Thanks Holly n Matt .......
Almost deleted the email til I figured it out.....
@Beep Beep
Ye old roadrunner never had a chance...beep beep indeed.
With Liketohike transitioning to Liketobrive and the sing-along we all had over the past weekend, coupled with the thousands of photos the daydreamers took, and hundreds of wonderful memories, and dozens of new pizzas, packages or Oreos, watermelons and licorice bags, all we need to do is sing the following in 4 part harmony::
Oh! We ain`t got a barrel of money
Maybe we`re ragged and funny
But we`ll travel along
Singing a song
Side by side
I don`t know what`s a-comin` tomorrow
Maybe it`s trouble and sorrow
But we`ll travel the road
Sharing our load
Side by side
through all kinds of weather
What if the sky should fall
Just as long as we`re together
It really doesn`t matter at all
When they`ve all had their quarrels and parted
We`ll be the same as we started
Just traveling along
Singing a song
Side by side
That's in the People's key of G by the way.
And pass rjrrrjrrr a seegar, pat him on the back, and shake his hand.

If I get stoned all night long it's just a family tradition....
Hit me Sarge....
Now we take our time, so nonchalant
And spend our nights so bon vivant
We dress our days in silken robes
The money comes
The money goes
We know it's all a passing phase
We light our lamps for atmosphere
And hang our hopes on chandeliers
We're going wrong, we're gaining weight
We're sleeping long and far too late
And so it's time to change our ways
But I've loved these days
Now as we indulge in things refined
We hide our hearts from harder times
A string of pearls, a foreign car
Oh we can only go so far
On caviar and cabernet
We drown our doubts in dry champagne
And soothe our souls with fine cocaine
I don't know why I even care
We'll get so high and get nowhere
We'll have to change our jaded ways
But I've loved these days
So before we end and then begin
We'll drink a toast to how it's been
A few more hours to be complete
A few more nights on satin sheets
A few more times that I can say
I've loved these days
KDED on pirate radio...
Told my baby one more timeDon't make me sit all alone and cry
Well it's over I know it but I can't let go
I'm like a fish out of water
A cat in a tree
You don't even want to talk to me
Well it's over I know it but I can't let go
He won't take me back when I come around
Says he's sorry then he puts me out
I got a big chain around my neck
And I'm broken down like a train wreck
Well it's over I know it but I can't let go
See I got a candle and it burns so bright
In my window every night
Well it's over I know but I can't let go
You don't like to see me standing around
Feel like I been shot and didn't fall down
Well it's over I know it but I can't let go
He won't take me back when I come around
Says he's sorry then he puts me out
I got a big chain around my neck
And I'm broken down like a train wreck
Well it's over I know it but I can't let go
Turn off trouble like you turn off a light
Went off and left me it just ain't right
Well it's over I know it but I can't let go
Round every corner something I see
Bring me right back how it used to be
Well it's over I know it but I can't let go
He won't take me back when I come around
Says he's sorry then he puts me out
I got a big chain around my neck
And I'm broken down like a train wreck
Well it's over I know it but I can't let go
He won't take me back when I come around
Says he's sorry then he puts me out
I got a big chain around my neck
And I'm broken down like a train wreck
Well it's over I know it but I can't let go
It's over I know it but I can't let go
It's over I know it but I can't let go
It's over I know it but I can't let go...

It's over -- or is it?
@my cat fell in the well....
Back by special request, a repeat performance on KDED .......
For pirate cats n kittens everywhere....
Hear that whistle, it's ten o'clock
(Don't let go, don't let go)
Come on, baby, it's time to rock
(Don't let go, don't let go)
I'm so happy I got you here
(Don't let go, don't let go)
Keeps me grinning from ear to ear
(Don't let go, don't let go)
[Chorus:]
Ooh wee, this feeling's killing me
Aw shucks, well, I wouldn't
Stop for a million bucks
I love you so, just hold
Me tight and don't let go
Thunder, lightning, wind and rain
(Don't let go, don't let go)
Oh, love is pounding inside my brain
(Don't let go, don't let go) yeah
I'm so eager, I'm nearly dying
(Don't let go, don't let go)
Now you been keeping
Your lips from mine
(Don't let go, don't let go) yeah
[Repeat chorus]
A hound dog barking upside the hill
(Don't let go, don't let go)
Love is dragging him through the mill
(Don't let go, don't let go)
If it wasn't for having you
(Don't let go, don't let go)
Yeah, well, I'd be barking
And scratching too
(Don't let go, don't let go)
Someday, baby
I'll quit you yet
(Don't let go, don't let go)
Well, I'll be crying and soaking wet
(Don't let go, don't let go)
One thing, baby
I'll never stand
(Don't let go, don't let go) yeah
If your lips kiss some other man
(Don't let go, don't let go)
[Repeat chorus]
Hold me tight (don't let go)
Yeah, hold me tight (don't let go)
Just hold me tight (don't let go)
Hey, hold me tight (don't let go)
You better hold me tight (don't let go)
Brrrrr (don't let go) hold me tight...
Somebody get me a doctor!
@ Kitty...will never be the same
Time is never time at all You can never ever leave without leaving a piece of youth
And our lives are forever changed
We will never be the same
The more you change the less you feel
Believe, believe in me, believe
That life can change, that you're not stuck in vain
We're not the same, we're different tonight
Tonight, so bright
Tonight
And you know you're never sure
But you're sure you could be right
If you held yourself up to the light
And the embers never fade in your city by the lake
The place where you were born
Believe, believe in me, believe
In the resolute urgency of now
And if you believe there's not a chance tonight
Tonight, so bright
Tonight
We'll crucify the insincere tonight
We'll make things right, we'll feel it all tonight
We'll find a way to offer up the night tonight
The indescribable moments of your life tonight
The impossible is possible tonight
Believe in me as I believe in you, tonight
I believe in the Grateful Dead and all the Daydreamers!
The impossible IS possible
What? Over ???
Nothing is over until we decide it is !!

@we ain't even started....
We get up early and we work all day We put our time in 'cause we like to stay up
All night long
We keep on grinnin' till the weekend comes
Just a pinch between your cheek and gum
All night long, all night long
Start in the morning and get the job done
Take care of bus'ness and we have some fun
All night long, all night long
We like a long neck and a good old song
Turn it up and then we sing along
Sing along
We're all stayin' up all night long
All night long
All night long
All night long
All night long
Hi All
I keep repeating in my head this morning, "this time last week we were on a flight to Chicago..." and I'm sure from now until Monday I'll be repeating that a lot..."this time last week..." Wish we could turn the clock back.
I really hope we can find a way to keep this momentum going - it would be so great to have another "event" to plan, whatever it may be. Don't want to lose touch with any of you. No way.
Never have I felt such a deep connection to people I had never met before. It really was very special in every way. Thank you, all, again for a weekend I will never forget. The music was incredible -- the connection and the love between us all was even better.
Miss you guys.
Anita
Hi Ya'll
That's right,. Anita, Women are smarter.
Guys woiuld just dump their laundry on the floor and walk over it for a few days...women got all tidied up and are planning a new get together.
Yes, it was grand. Da Bus is idling away, ready willing and able to take us where ever we need to go. Whereever it is, I hope to see you all there...
How about a group online get together? Geeky, where are you!
@dirty laundry
....I'm in....
Anybody know if Al made it back to Nevada?
Woke up this mornin'...
Felt your side of the bed...
You were gone...
My heart was filled with dread!
You might not be sleeping here again.
Man it hasn't stopped raining since we got back to STL. Last night one of my favorite state parks got hit by a tornado. Hope the beautiful trees are OK.
I got a SSDD jones to feed! Miss you guys!
Who wants to party?
It's almost Friday!
Ohhhhh here comes the rain......
Rain, rain go away, come on around another day......
Sarge, stop paddling and pump up the volume, Miami wants to play.....
I got a little change in my pocket going ching-a-ling-a-ling
Wanna call you on the telephone, baby, give you a ring
But each time we talk, I get the same old thing
Always, "No huggee, no kissee until I get a wedding ring"
My honey, my baby, don't put my love upon no shelf
She said, "Don't hand me no lines and keep your hands to yourself"
Ooh, baby, baby, baby, why you gonna treat me this way?
You know I'm still your loverboy, I still feel the same way
That's when she told me a story 'bout free milk and a cow
And said, "No huggee, no kissee until I get a wedding vow"
My honey, my baby, don't put my love upon no shelf
She said, "Don't hand me no lines and keep your hands to yourself"
You see, I wanted her real bad and I was about to give in
That's when she started talking about true love, started talking about sin
I said, "Honey, I'll live with you for the rest of my life"
She said, "No huggee, no kissee until you make me a wife"
My honey, my baby, don't put my love upon no shelf
She said, "Don't hand me no lines and keep your hands to yourself"
Like an Angel...
It's not waining anymore, skies parted...sunlight peaks through...biut o static on KDED and then, magically....
My time coming, any day, don't worry bout me, no
Been so long I felt this way, ain't in no hurry, no
Rainbows end down that highway where ocean breezes blow
My time coming, voices saying, they tell me where to go
Don't worry bout me, no no, don't worry bout me, no
And I'm in no hurry, no no no, I know where to go.
California, preaching on the burning shore
California, I'll be knocking on the golden door
Like an angel, standing in a shaft of light
Rising up to paradise, I know I'm gonna shine
My time coming, anyday, don't worry bout me, no
It's gonna be just like they say, them voices tell me so
Seems so long I felt this way and time sure passin' slow
Still I know I lead the way, they tell me where I go
Don't worry bout me, no no, don't worry bout me, no
And I'm in no hurry, no no no, I know where to go
California, a prophet on the burning shore
California, I'll be knocking on the golden door
Like an angel, standing in a shaft of light
Rising up to paradise, I know I'm gonna shine
You've all been asleep,
You would not believe me
Them voices telling me,
You will soon receive me
We're standing on the beach,
The sea will part before me
(Fire wheel burning in the air)
And you will follow me,
And we will ride to glory
(Way up the middle of the air)
And I'll call down thunder
And speak the same
And my word fills the sky with flame
And might and glory gonna be my name
And men gonna light my way
My time coming, anyday, don't worry bout me, no
It's gonna be just like they say, them voices tell me so
Seems so long I felt this way and time sure passin slow
My time coming, anyday, don't worry about me, no
Don't worry about me...
@make me an Angel.....
Hey look here in Rock n Roll heaven....
It's John Prine....hop onboard John....what you want Bonnie to sing one...?
Ok, Sarge, clear the stage...Ms.Raitt has something she wants to say.....
shhhhhhh...
I am an old woman
Named after my mother
An old man is another
Child who's grown old
If dreams were thunder
Lightning was desire
This old house it would've burned down
A long time ago
[Chorus:]
Make me an angel
That flies from montgomery
Make me a poster
Of an old rodeo
Just give me one thing
That i can hold on to
To believe in this livin'
Is just a hard way to go
When i was a young girl
I had me a cowboy
It wasn't much to look at
It was a free ramblin' man
There was a long time
No matter how i tried
The years they just rolled by
Like a broken down dance
[Chorus]
There's flies in the kitchen
I can hear them there buzzin'
And i ain't done nothing since i woke up today
But how the hell can a person
Go on to work in the morning
To come home in the evening
And have nothing to say
[Chorus]
@ play time
Emily tries but misunderstands, ah ooh She often inclined to borrow somebody's dreams till tomorrow
There is no other day
Let's try it another way
You'll lose your mind and play
Free games for may
See Emily play
Soon after dark Emily cries, ah ooh
Gazing through trees in sorrow hardly a sound till tomorrow
There is no other day
Let's try it another way
You'll lose your mind and play
Free games for may
See Emily play
Put on a gown that touches the ground, ah ooh
Float on a river forever and ever, Emily
There is no other day
Let's try it another way
You'll lose your mind and play
Free games for may
See Emily play

You were a Floydhead....
I'm just obscured by clouds......
The memories of a man in his old age
Are the deeds of a man in his prime.
You suffle in gloom in the sickroom
And talk to yourself till you die.
Life is a short, warm moment
And death is a long cold rest.
You get your chance to try
In the twinkling of an eye:
Eighty years, with luck, or even less.
So all aboard for the American tour,
And maybe you'll make it to the top.
And mind how you go.
I can tell you, because I know.
You may find it hard to get off.
You are the angel of death
And I am the dead man's son.
And he died like a mole in a fox hole.
And everyone is still in the run.
And who is the master of fox hounds?
And who says the hunt has begun?
And who calls the tune in the courtroom?
And who beats the funeral drum?
The memories of a man in his old age
Are the deeds of a man in his prime.
You suffle in gloom in the sickroom
And talk to yourself till you die.
@ you may find it hard to get off
I've found it is impossible to get off dis dus...lets go for a ride! Once more around the park fellas!
I'm an easy rider, the wind is at my back
I'm an easy rider, the white line is my track
Every lane is a passin' lane and the ride away is mine
Let me on that straight-away and I'll be fairly flyin'
I'm an easy rider, my wheels love to roll
I'm an easy rider, I ride a new road every day
I'm an easy rider, I will see you on my way
I got a number down in every town in my little black book
And they understand that I'm a travelin' man
So they don't think they got hooked
I'm an easy rider, I love that gray highway
I'm an easy rider, oh Lord, I love to roll
I'm an easy rider, movin's in my soul
I know a lady down in Little Rock and I stopped for a little while
But I had to go 'cause another I know is waitin' for my smile
I'm an easy rider, I can't stay in one place
@rocks off....
I've always found that quite easy provided the mood is right...but that's just me....
...especially since Mick n Keith and Co. Are comin to da Buff in two daze...love me some Exile on Main Street Stones...Fred n Barney!
I hear you talking when I'm on the street,
Your mouth don't move but I can hear you speak.
What's the matter with the boy?
He don't come around no more,
Is he checking out for sure?
Is he gonna close the door on me?
And I'm always hearing voices on the street,
I want to shout, but I can't hardly speak.
I was making love last night
To a dancer friend of mine.
I can't seem to stay in step,
'Cause she come ev'ry time that she pirouettes over me.
And I only get my rocks off while I'm dreaming,
I only get my rocks off while I'm sleeping.
I'm zipping through the days at lightning speed.
Plug in, flush out and fire the fuckin' feed.
Heading for the overload,
Splattered on the dusty road,
Kick me like you've kicked before,
I can't even feel the pain no more.
But I only get my rocks off while I'm dreaming,
I only get my rocks off while I'm sleeping.
Feel so hypnotized, can't describe the scene.
Feel so mesmerized all that inside me.
The sunshine bores the daylights out of me.
Chasing shadows moonlight mystery.
Headed for the overload,
Splattered on the dirty road,
Kick me like you've kicked before,
I can't even feel the pain no more.
But I only get my rocks off while I'm dreaming,
I only get my rocks off while I'm sleeping.
@ get your rocks off-a me
hey rrrgrrr, get your mind out of the gutter....
Oh wait...mine's there too...
You know, there’s two ol’ maids layin’ in the bed
One picked herself up an’ the other one, she said:
“Get your rocks off!
Get your rocks off! (Get ’em off!)
Get your rocks off! (Get ’em off!)
Get your rocks off-a me! (Get ’em off!)”
Well, you know, there late one night up on Blueberry Hill
One man turned to the other man and said, with a blood-curdlin’ chill, he said:
“Get your rocks off! (Get ’em off!)
Get your rocks off! (Get ’em off!)
Get your rocks off! (Get ’em off!)
Get your rocks off-a me! (Get ’em off!)”
Well, you know, we was layin’ down around Mink Muscle Creek
One man said to the other man, he began to speak, he said:
“Get your rocks off! (Get ’em off!)
Get your rocks off! (Get ’em off!)
Get your rocks off! (Get ’em off!)
Get your rocks off-a me! (Get ’em off!)”
Well, you know, we was cruisin’ down the highway in a Greyhound bus
All kinds-a children in the side road, they was hollerin’ at us, sayin’:
“Get your rocks off! (Get ’em off!)
Get your rocks off! (Get ’em off!)
Get your rocks off! (Get ’em off!)
Get your rocks off-a me!”
@Holly n da dreamers......RIP.....
Ride on Josephine...ride on.....I mean Holly......
What a long strange trip it has been....
My final post....life beckons.....all before this was but a dream....
Ain't it just like the night to play tricks when you're tryin' to be so quiet ?
We sit here stranded, though we're all doin our best to deny it
And Louise holds a handfull of rain, tempting you to defy it
Lights flicker from the opposite loft
In this room the heat pipes just cough
The country music station plays soft
But there's nothing really nothing to turn of
Just Louise and her lover so entwined
And these visions of Johanna that conquer my mind.
In the empty lot where the ladies play blindman's bluff with the key chain
And the all-night girls they whisper of escapades out on the D-train
We can hear the night watcman click his flashlight
Ask himself if it's him or them that's really insane
Louise she's all right she's just near
She's delicate and seems like the mirror
But she just makes it all too concise and too clear
That Johanna's not here
The ghost of electricity howls in the bones of her face
Where these visions of Johanna have now taken my place.
Now, little boy lost, he takes himself so seriously
He brags of his misery, he likes to live dangerously
And when bringing her name up
He speaks of a farewell kiss to me
He's sure got a lotta gall to be so useless and all
Muttering small talk at the wall while I'm in the hall
Oh, how can I explain ?
It's so hard to get on
And these visions of Johanna they kept me up past the dawn.
Inside the museums, Infinity goes up on trial
Voices echo this is what salvation must be like after a while
But Mona Lisa musta had the highway blues
You can tell by the way she smiles
See the primitive wallflower freeze
When the jelly-faced women all sneeze
Hear the one with the mustache say, "Jeeze
I can't find my knees"
Oh, jewels and binoculars hang from the head of the mule
But these visions of Johanna, they make it all seem so cruel.
The peddler now speaks to the countess who's pretending to care for him
Saying, "Name me someone that's not a parasite and I'll go out and say a prayer for him"
But like Louise always says
"Ya can't look at much, can ya man "
As she, herself prepares for him
And Madonna, she still has not showed
We see this empty cage now corrode
Where her cape of the stage once had flowed
The fiddler, he now steps to the road
He writes ev'rything's been returned which was owed
On the back of the fish truck that loads
While my conscience explodes
The harmonicas play the skeleton keys and the rain
And these visions of Johanna are now all that remain.
(I can be reached via text and email should you so choose)
@ it's been real
it's been fun
it's been real fun!
There's a sad sort of clanging from the clock in the hall
And the bells in the church too.
And up in the bedroom, an absurd little bird
Is popping up to say, "Cuckoo cuckoo!"
Regretfully they tell us but firmly they compel us
To say goodbye to you.
So long, farewell, auch wiedersehen, good night.
I hate to go and leave this pretty sight.
So long, farewell auf wiedersehen, adieu
Adieu, adieu, to you and you and you.
So long, farewell, au revoir, auch wiedersehen.
I'd like to stay and taste my first champagne
Yes?
"no."
So long, farewell, auch wiedersehen, goodbye
I leave and heave a sigh and say goodbye
I'm glad to go, I cannot tell a lie
I flit, I float, I fleetly flee, I fly
The sun has gone to bed and so must I
So long, farewell, auch wiedersehen, goodbye
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye
What am I going to do without my dus briver...sob.. sob... tears....
@real...or is it?
Holly, you are da briver.....Torch has been passed....
Make us proud.....

Official mayor retirement :-(
I am back and still recovering. Back to work yesterday.
WHEW! I still can't believe what I experienced in Chicago (and Santa Clara).
Sorry it took so long for my return. I have so much to say but it will have to come in increments.
It was a daunting but exciting task to undertake alone, but of course I know oh so well that I was the furthest thing from being alone with all the dreamers and other kind folks I met along the way. Had the trip been for any other reason I might have really felt alone in Chicago. Meeting some of the dreamers in SC and then more (wish I could have met you all) in Chicago I felt a "strange" sense of belonging in this community (yes that's what we are a mini community inside the deadhead community) that is pure magic. I don't have any other explanation. The kindest friendliest people in the world are the deadheads and I saw this kindness and comfort throughout the entire trip.
Thank you everyone in SD for the mayoral red carpet, and thank you to the entire deadhead community for the crazy kinship we all have and that was so evident in all these shows during my travels...
Visions
Got me through those early years - way to go out...
Holly is right - I do not believe there is an exit on this thing, but maybe a window. We'll leave it open for all y'all who are saying "goodbye."
"Never Say Good Bye"
Twilight on the frozen lake
A north wind about to break
On the footprints in the snow
Silence down below.
You're beautiful beyond words
You're beautiful to me
You can make me cry
Never say goodbye.
Because my dreams are made
Of iron and steel
With a big boquet of roses hanging down
From the heavens to the ground.
The crashing waves roll over me
As I stand upon the sand
And wait for you to come
Grab hold of my hand.
Oh baby, baby, baby blue
You'll change your last name too
You turned your hair to brown
Love to see it hanging down.
The magic that was my trip...
(I am not saying good-bye more of a "'til next time" from me.)
From the moment I sat down at the airport bar in Sacramento, waiting to come to Chicago, it had already begun. A very nice fellow who saw my dead shirt came up and sat next to me and we chatted, talked about SC and the upcoming shows. The magic was just beginning for Chicago for me (SD meet, magical show and rainbow had really started the whole thing June 27). I guess the magic was just on hold for a few days. But boy did it really kick in. Got in to CHI on time from my non-stop flight, caught a shuttle, got to the hotel and checked in half hour early. Got to the gig in time no problem.
Let me say if anyone had a doubt about the staff at Soldier Field, that idea was squashed immediately. They were honestly the nicest people I have ever patronized at any concert or stadium event. I was completely blown away by their professionalism and customer service. Had great customer service at my hotel as well. Everyone I met along the way was just awesome, I couldn't stop smiling, laughing and having a great time....
the picnic
...I was bit hungover as I had a REAL GOOD time at Friday's show. Super energetic rock and roll show that was. Hung out with Chris and Jeff (Mortatone), had a fantastic time!
Feeling not so special I made it to the picnic about 20-30 minutes late. What a great feeling it was to go around and meet the group. What a great group of people we are! It truly was an amazing time and what a highlight for me personally. I never did anything quite like this before, meet people I have chatted with on the internet. It felt like home and I had known these people all my adult life. It really was a special moment.
The field museum with the Jazz and Colors was off the hook (right after picnic). One trio had a sax that sounded like Stan Getz I shit you not (a personal jazz favorite of mine)! I told him that and he was very humbled by my compliment. can't stop smiling. Huge museum, amazing! GD50 exhibit mindblowing also with the tiger guitar (tears) and the envelopes and memorabilia!
Sensory overload...
