By request, a gathering spot for Chicago-bound folks to connect and plan!
One more Saturday night....
...Tired from the museum I trucked on and found something funky on the way to Shakedown street. So I ate it, and it was good.
More Magic: I go up and visit Tony up in the nosebleeds as he asked me to come up and say Hi. That was so cool to meet up with Tony at his seat both Fri. and Sat. nights! When I arrived back in my sec. 324, a guy asked me to trade for a seat down in sec. 125. No brainer! Right place right time.
My only complaint from that night was it was real smoky down there and I had some issues breathing. Lots of cigarretee smoking, and other stuff. Took my sandals off and wandered around the stadium looking for air. None of the concession stands had any. HMMMM? I did find that very odd (at the time).
Had great people around me to help me get through the night alone as I had no seatmates other than the other 70,000. My neighbors were instrumental and of monumental help to me that night...
My brother!
...my bro comes up to meet me on Sunday which was unbearably cool. He lives in St Louis and I don't get to see him very often. The magic continues.
I overslept and barely made it to the train to make it to the River Architecture cruise. My bro was supposed to meet me at hotel but he was late and got lost. He made it down to the boat dock by 11, though, and watched me leave in the boat. I had to run from the train to a cab then ran to the boat. I don't know how I made it (credit the magical guardian angel).
Me and my bro spent the mid-day together and had an early dinner laughing and reminiscing to the point of happy tears. Truly special time we had and what a surprise. I didn't think he was coming but was super happy to see him. Then he drops me off downtown for Sunday's show and what a finale it was...
The music (my take)
I think the shows were awesome. They really were Grateful Dead shows! The stage and the lighting, the screens and the images that were displayed. I mean, how could you not be moved by all of it? I was incredibly moved, Trey did a great job at attempting the impossible. He can't be Jerry and we all know that. He had some amazing moments and some not-so-amazing moments. He gelled with the band though, and it was a wonderful run of shows. I don't know how he pulled off learning all those songs. What a true performer and consummate professional.
Trey embraced his role and really shined as lead guitarist for the dead this time around. I felt this was the best we have heard from this band in any iteration since Jerry left us. And there were some moments of brilliance where he was channeling Jerry and it was (again) pure magic. Those moments will last a lifetime and I will remember these shows always and appreciate the wonderful gift the band gave us by doing these shows....
Besides Trey...
...the rest of the band? Well, they kicked my ass those old farts! They can still put on a great show (or 5). Bobby sounded fantastic; Phil thrilled us with his bass work; and the Rhythm Devils were on the top of their game (that in itself worth the price of admission). Bruce was great, wish he would have sung more (like on Terrapin) but what can you do?
Fireworks Sat. and Sun nights, the break music and images were outstanding. The light show was unlike anything I have ever seen for dead show and was totally top-notch. Shapiro put on an amazing set of shows and really did it up big. Like him or not, forgive him or not (for the ticket debacles), he put on a major spectacle and did it right in the end.
In closing....
Spent Sunday show with Jaleel, super cool cat and he was extremely appreciative of my offer for the extra ticket. When the last show was over we sat for a bit, had to soak it up as much as possible. Did not want to leave.
So much to absorb and take in. I ran into a few SD peeps here and there at the shows. Fitting I would see Tami and Brad 1 last time Sunday night downstairs. What a trip man! You 2 are the coolest!
What a musical magical journey I went on and it wouldn't even have been possible (or nearly half as enjoyable) without this fine group they call the Sunshine Daydreamers! I am very humbled and honored to have been elected mayor. I hereby retire as mayor but plan to be an active member of the group 'til the end of time (or my life) whichever comes first.
P.S. Even on the plane flight home I would sit next to a young couple who were totally cool deadheads and we had a nice flight back together joking and remembering the shows.
@closing & our mayor
Great comments, Sir Klangster. Thanks for taking on the duties and all over the past months....for all you did, are doing, and will do. It has been a wonderful ride, and it ain't over. Sure, you don't need to sit in at all the public hearings, take those calls in the middle of the night about the chuck-hole in front of Martha'smailbox, or officiate on Proclamation Tuesday, but don't stow that gavel just yet.
We need our Mayor Emeritus available for ribbon cutting ceremonies in our Sunshine Museum, for the dunk booth at the Daydream Fair in August, and the Beautiful Baby Contest organizers are looking for the perfect person to anchor their judges panel.
All kidding aside, your reflections are spot on and covered a bunch of what was on my mind. Thank you for taking the time to put it out there on our corner of the internet universe.
Da Bus is idling just fine. The new sunshine solar engine puts out no fumes, and is green friendly. It'll run forever. Hope to see you here and there, and don't forget we gotta populate our new town, www.sunshinedaydreamers.com. Might need a mayor there...see the ring? Got a Hat? Toss it in!
geofriendsdon'tletfriendsretiremeister
@eyes revisited
we are all in this together...please pass a hanky.
@ Daydreamers
Hanky over here please!
Klang- I echo your sentiments on the pic a nic and the shows. I was also slightly hung over at the pic a nic since we were camping the night before and listening to the concert on Sirius... the drinks were goin down easy.
Thank you Klang and everyone who helped to prepare for the pic a nic, it was a blast and wish it could've last just a little longer...It was really great to meet everyone and I agree that it was like we had known each other forever.
The shows were more than I could've ever imagined. the best time of my life! I danced like I was 17 again with no inhibitions. I didn't drink a drop of liquor during the shows Sat or Sunday but I was in such an altered state with the lights and music.
I broke down during standing on the moon but managed to keep it together for the last show. Afterwards though it was hard... I got just a taste of the life/family/community/vibe/magic/electricity of the Dead and now it's over...
Is it better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all...why yes but it still hurts.
Klang, if your brother lives in STL then you have 2 reasons to come here! Meet me in Saint Louis! We'll show you a good time...and anyone else who would like to visit Matt and I in the city of Blues.
I'll be brivin da dus but I need a road companion, someone to ride shotgun...or I might fall asleep at the wheel.
(peace love unity respect) PLUR!!!!
@Goin down da roab
feeling dab, goin down da roab feeling dab and so happy Liketohikeandbrive is at the wheel:
Going down the road feeling bad
Going down the road feeling bad
Going down the road feeling bad, hey hey hey, yeah
Don't wanna be treated this a way
Going where the climate suits my clothes
I'm going where the climate suits my clothes
Going where the climate suits my clothes
Don't wanna be treated this a way
[chorus]
Going where the water tastes like wine
Well I'm going where the water tastes like wine
Going where the water tastes like wine
I don't wanna be treated this a way..
Holly dear, and Matt...can't think of a better dus briver to have along for the ribe (other than rjjjrrjr, but you two are equals now). Rest assured that we will always be at your side, if not in person, or on this forum seat, than certainly in spirit.
It was an awesome journey, and although that whee part in SC and SF has passed us by on the time-warp continue-um of real space and time, the experiences, new acquaintances and memories will live on forever.
It was grand, wasn't it. You are as nice and kind in person as you are in spirit. I wish you and all the brivers and ribers well over the summer. If we can't go on a physical adventure together, let's go on a magical virtual one here on this roab.
Cause, we are actually "Going down the road feeling fine.." that's my story and I'm sticking too it.
geotheroadgoesonforeverandthelovinneverendsmeister
@Shotgun shack? Or what's so bad about feelin' alright?
ride shotgun?For Miami?
Twist my paw
.....
(This is Pupper talkin' btw...)
Movin' right along in search of good times and good news,
With good friends you can't lose,
This could become a habit!
Opportunity knocks once let's reach out and grab it (yeah!),
Together we'll nab it,
We'll hitchhike, bus or yellow cab it!
(Cab it?)
Movin' right along.
Footloose and fancy-free.
Getting there is half the fun; come share it with me.
Moving right along (doog-a-doon doog-a-doon).
We'll learn to share the load.
We don't need a map to keep this show on the road.
(Hey, that song is sounding better Fozzie.)
Movin' right along,
We've found a life on the highway.
And your way is my way,
So trust my navigation.
California here we come, the pie-in-the-sky-land.
Palm trees, and warm sand.
Though sadly we just left Rhode Island.
(We did what?!)
(Just forget it.)
Movin' right along (doog-a-doon doog-a-doon).
Hey la, where've you gone?
Send someone to fetch us, were in Sasketchewan!
Movin' right along (doog-a-doon doog-a-doon).
You take it, you know best.
Hey, I've never seen the sun come up in the West?
Movin' right along.
We're truly birds of a feather,
We're in this together and we know where we're going.
Movie stars with flashy cars and life with the top down.
We're storming the big town,
(Yeah, Storm is right should it be snowing?)
(Uh, no I don't think so...)
Movin' right along,
Do I see signs of men?
Yeah, "welcome" on the same post that says "come back again."
Moving right along, nice town!
Footloose and fancy-free,
You're ready for the big time...
Is it ready for me?
Movin' right along,
Movin' right along,
Movin' right along,
Movin' right along.
Da Mayor
I'll post more of my thoughts on the weekend next week, as I am slammed in the mines right now (a small price to pay for five out of nine)! However, I wanted to add a tidbit to Mike's great narrative. I was fortunate enough to run into the Klangmeister by the gate before Saturday's show (one-in-70K chance?) and he was getting his space together before going in. As he related his plan of attack and as I admired his sense of curiosity and abandon, I knew that 24 hours later he would have some absolutely fantastic tales to tell. As I pondered his imminent departure to realms unknown, he suddenly pointed to the grassy incline with an overpass and wandering Deadheads..."I need to get up there"...and with a flash, our esteemed Mayor was off and running, armed with an open mind and a less-than-empty pocket. I'm glad I got to share that moment, Mike, and am even more glad that subsequent events met or exceeded your expectations.
@Bobloblaw
It was a real treat hanging with you as well in SC, at the picnic and especially on that super special and crazy wild night that was July 4. Great times, I could not stop smiling and laughing and grinning and feeling super special the entire time in Chicago.
That Saturday night was a wild ride for sure, so many memories and special moments!!!!
I know I keep repeating myself about the colossal spectacle that was FTW, but it's so hard to stop gushing over this spectacular event.
@Mr Mayor....
Mike....you rocked the house.....think we erect a statue of you on ba dus....or better yet make your replica a hood ornament...and you will always lead us wherever Holly chooses to take us.....Love ya brother!
sunshine daydream indeed
my son attended Sunday night with me. He is 28, so not a "kid" (tho he'll always be my baby)...anyway, he is a veteran of many, many festivals, concerts, etc, has hitchhiked around the US multiple times ....he and friends toured with Furthur in in 2010 in a school bus they converted to run on veggie oil...I give you the background so you can understand the context that he knows what he knows and is not a rookie...anyway, towards the end of Sunday night...he looks at me with tears in his eyes and asks..."Were they all like this?" Of course he meant the music; but also the vibe, the familial feeling in the crowd, the total bliss in the crowd even knowing we had maybe 2 more songs before we would never hear this band again. He was just completely in awe, as we all were. I think he and I made a very special connection that night. I thank you and the rest of the 70K there, and the millions not there, who helped to make this night so special.
@ahhhh dagnabbit!!!!!
Mkav....now I'm crying.....
I need a tissue!!!!!!
Sarge....Kleenex please?
@ tissues all around
It's my party and I'll cry if I want to...
Sing it Janice...
Cry baby, cry baby, cry baby,
Honey, welcome back home.
I know she told you,
Honey I know she told you that she loved you
Much more than I did,
But all I know is that she left you,
And you swear that you just don't know why,
But you know, honey I'll always,
I'll always be around if you ever want me
Come on and cry, cry baby, cry baby, cry baby,
Oh honey, welcome back home.
Don't you know, honey,
Ain't nobody ever gonna love you
The way I try to do ?
Who'll take all your pain,
Honey, your heartache, too ?
And if you need me, you know
That I'll always be around if you ever want me
Come on and cry, cry baby, cry baby, cry baby,
Oh daddy, like you always saying to do.
And when you walk around the world, babe,
You said you'd try to look for the end of the road,
You might find out later that the road'll end in Detroit,
Honey, the road'll even end in Kathmandu.
You can go all around the world
Trying to find something to do with your life, baby,
When you only gotta do one thing well,
You only gotta do one thing well to make it in this world, babe.
You got a woman waiting for you there,
All you ever gotta do is be a good man one time to one woman
And that'll be the end of the road, babe,
I know you got more tears to share, babe,
So come on, come on, come on, come on, come on,
And cry, cry baby, cry baby, cry baby.
And if you ever feel a little lonely, dear,
I want you to come on, come on to your mama now,
And if you ever want a little love of a woman
Come on and baby baby baby babe babe baby now
Cry baby yeah.
Hail hail the gangs all here..what the heck do we care, as long as we're together!
@cry, cry, cry....
I went out walking the other day
Seen a little girl crying along the way
She'd been hurt so bad said she'd never love again
Someday your crying girl will end
And you'll find once again
Two hearts are better than one
Two hearts girl get the job done
Two hearts are better than one
Once I spent my time playing tough guy scenes
But I was living in a world of childish dreams
Someday these childish dreams must end
To become a man and grow up to dream again
Now I believe in the end
Two hearts are better than one
Two hearts girl get the job done
Two hearts are better than one
Sometimes it might seem like it was planned
for you to roam empty hearted through this land
Though the world turns you hard and cold
There's one thing mister, that I know
That's if you think your heart is stone
And that you're rough enough to whip this world alone
Alone buddy there ain't no peace of mind
That's why I'll keep searching till I find my special one
Two hearts are better than one
Two hearts girl get the job done
Two hearts are better than one
@ Nobody left
Hey rrrgrrr, I thought you said you had made your final post...
Welcome back Kotter!
Everybody wants to know where Jimmy has gone
He left town, I doubt if he's coming back home
Well Tony got a job, three kids and a lovely wife
Working at the commerce bank for the rest of his life
Nobody left to run with anymore
Nobody left to do the crazy things we used to do before
Nobody left to run with anymore
I'm gonna hit the road, adios my friend
Go someplace and start all over again
Don't know where I'm going, like a gypsy out on the road
I'll go someplace and join a traveling show
Nobody left to run with anymore
Nobody wants to do the crazy things we used to do before
Nobody left to run with anymore
Nobody left to run with anymore
Nobody left to run with anymore
I think Jimmy must have had the right idea
Packed his stuff and he got right out of here
I don't know where he's at but I'm sure that he's ok
Now I realize what Jimmy was trying to say
Nobody left to run with anymore
Nobody wants to do the crazy things we used to do before
Nobody left to run with anymore
Nobody left to run with anymore
Nobody left to run with anymore

@ it's only rock n' roll
And I love it!
If I could stick my pen in my heart
And spill it all over the stage
Would it satisfy ya, would it slide on by ya
Would you think the boy is strange? Ain't he strange?
If I could win ya, if I could sing ya
A love song so divine
Would it be enough for your cheating heart
If I broke down and cried? If I cried?
I said I know it's only rock 'n roll but I like it
I know it's only rock 'n roll but I like it, like it, yes, I do
Oh, well, I like it, I like it, I like it
I said can't you see that this old boy has been a lonely?
If I could stick a knife in my heart
Suicide right on stage
Would it be enough for your teenage lust
Would it help to ease the pain? Ease your brain?
If I could dig down deep in my heart
Feelings would flood on the page
Would it satisfy ya, would it slide on by ya
Would ya think the boy's insane? He's insane
I said I know it's only rock 'n roll but I like it
I said I know it's only rock'n roll but I like it, like it, yes, I do
Oh, well, I like it, I like it, I like it
I said can't you see that this old boy has been a lonely?
And do ya think that you're the only girl around?
I bet you think that you're the only woman in town
I said I know it's only rock 'n roll but I like it
I said I know it's only rock 'n roll but I like it
I said I know it's only rock 'n roll but I like it, like it, yes, I do
Oh, well, I like it, I like it. I like it...
Seriously.....It really wasn't me
Well he was cold, tired, and hungryCame a beggin' for bread
The lady took him in and fed him breakfast in bed
It wasn't me
No no baby it wasn't me
Ah, that must have been some other body,
No, no child it wasn't me
Well, there's a cool, young whipper snapper
Loves to run and play
But the draft board got him they inducted him today
It wasn't me
No no baby it wasn't me
Yeah, you must've met some other body,
No, no child it wasn't me
Callin' out for volunteers on the front row
Lieutenant said which one of ya'll will volunteer to go
It wasn't me
Woo, it wasn't me
Yeah that must've been some other body,
No, no child it wasn't me
Wailin' down the freeway
adjust the cruisin' power
The state trooper clocked me at ninety miles an hour
It wasn't me
No no sheriff it wasn't me
Well you must have met some other body,
No, no it wasn't me
Well you say you saw my car parked
By the drive-in one night
Came over to speak to me but I was outta sight
It wasn't me
No no baby it wasn't me
That must've been some other body,
No, no child it wasn't me
I met a German girl in England
Who was goin' to school in France
Said we danced the Mississippi at an Alpha Cappa dance
It wasn't me
Woo, it wasn't me
Yeah, you must've met some other body,
No, no child it wasn't me
@ rrrrrgrrrrr
Welcome back, Your dreams were your ticket out.
Welcome back,
To that same old place that you laughed about.
Well the names have all changed since you hung around,
But those dreams have remained and they're turned around.
Who'd have thought they'd lead ya (Who'd have thought they'd lead ya)
Back here where we need ya (Back here where we need ya)
Yeah we tease him a lot cause we've got him on the spot, welcome back,
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.
@ Tucker Carlson
Do you guys know that douche nozzle was at the shows?
He fancies himself a huge deadhead...
probably went to the shows in his Range Rover with an eternally fat wad...
likely was in a box at the top last weekend.
However Bill Murray may have cancelled out his presence
Damn, Bill Murray!!!
@Mr. Kotter!!!!! Oooooo oooooo!!!!
Just to be clear....Ellie Mae is the Space Captain....me n Sarge are just enjoying the ride......shotgun for now.....Right Sarge?
The dude abides, the dude abides......
@douche nozzles....
Water under bridges.....
You were there, I was there, Walton was there...we all were there!!!!!!
we don't need no stinkin' douche nozzles!!!!!
@ Ground Control
Sarge, take your protein pills and put your helmet on...strap in!
Ground Control to Major Tom
Ground Control to Major Tom
Take your protein pills and put your helmet on
Ground Control to Major Tom
Commencing countdown, engines on
Check ignition and may God's love be with you
Spoken:
Ten, Nine, Eight, Seven, Six, Five, Four, Three, Two, One, Lift-off
This is Ground Control to Major Tom
You've really made the grade
And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear
Now it's time to leave the capsule if you dare
This is Major Tom to Ground Control
I'm stepping through the door
And I'm floating in a most the peculiar way
And the stars look very different today
For here
Am I sitting in a tin can
Far above the world
Planet Earth is blue
And there's nothing I can do
Though I'm past one hundred thousand miles
I'm feeling very still
And I think my spaceship knows which way to go
Tell my wife I love her very much (she knows!)
Ground Control to Major Tom
Your circuit's dead, there's something wrong
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
Can you hear....
Here am I floating 'round my tin can
Far above the Moon
Planet Earth is blue
And there's nothing I can do
@Major Tom.....its your bus.....drive it
Bang, bang, shoot em' up, destiny
Bang, bang, shoot em' up to the moon
Bang, bang, shoot em' up one, two, three
(One, two, three, four!)
I wanted to be a spaceman
That's what I wanted to be
But now that I am a spaceman
Nobody cares about me
Hey Mother Earth
Won't 'cha bring me back down
Safely to the sea
But 'round and around and around and around
Is all she ever say to me
I wanted to make a good run
I wanted to go to the moon
I knew that it had to be fun
I told 'em to send me real soon
I wanted to be a spaceman
I wanted to be it so bad
But now that I am a spaceman
I'd rather be back on the pad
Hey Mother Earth
Won't 'cha bring me back down
Safely to the sea
'round and around and around and around
Is just a lot of lunacy
(Yeah!)
'round and around and around and around and around
(So bring me back down)
'round and around and around and around and around
Safe on the ground
Hey Mother Earth
Better bring me back down
Safely to the sea
But around and around and around and around
Is all she ever say to me, yeah
You know I wanted to be a spaceman
That's what I wanted to be
But now that I am a spaceman
Nobody cares about me
Say, hey, you Mother Earth
You better bring me back down
I've taken just as much as I can
But around and around and around and around
Is the problem of a spaceman
@ douche nozzles
Im so glad admin is OK with the term douche nozzle... I dont like being censored.
my sister who incidentally is also named Holly(step sister) used to think in the song blinded by the light that they were saying "wrapped up like a douche" and wouldn't listen to the song.
Blinded by the light
Revved up like a deuce
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light
Madman drummer bummers
Indians in the summer
With a teenage diplomat
In the dumps with the mumps
As the adolescent pumps
His way into his hat
With a boulder on my shoulder
Feeling kinda older
I tripped a merry-go-round
With this very unpleasing
Sneezing and wheezing
The calliope crashed to the ground
The calliope crashed to the ground
[Chorus:]
But she was blinded by the light.
Revved up like a deuce,
Another runner in the night.
Blinded by the light.
Revved up like a deuce,
Another runner in the night.
Blinded by the light.
Revved up like a deuce,
Another runner in the night.
Some silicone sister
With her manager mister
Told me I got what it takes
She said, I'll turn you on sonny to something strong
Play the song with the funky break
And go-kart Mozart
Was checking out the weather chart
To see if it was safe outside
And little Early Pearly
Came by in his curly-wurly
And asked me if I needed a ride
Asked me if I needed a ride
[Chorus:]
‘Cause she was blinded by the light.
Revved up like a deuce,
Another runner in the night.
Blinded by the light.
She got down but she never got tight
She's gonna make it to the night
She's gonna make it through the night
But mama, that's where the fun is
But mama, that's where the fun is
[Solo]
Mama always told me not to look into the eyes of the sun
But mama, that's where the fun is
Some brimstone baritone
Anticyclone rolling stone
Preacher from the east
Says, "Dethrone the dictaphone.
Hit it in its funny bone.
That's where they expect it least."
And some new mown chaperone
Was standing in the corner
Watching the young girls dance
And some fresh-sown moonstone
Was messing with his frozen zone
Reminding him of romance
The calliope crashed to the ground
But she was blinded by the light.
Revved up like a deuce
Another runner in the night.
Blinded by the light.
Revved up like a deuce
Another runner in the night.
(Madman drummers bummers and Indians in the summer with a teenage diplomat
In the dumps with the mumps as the adolescent pumps his way into his hat)
Blinded by the light.
Revved up like a deuce
Another runner in the night.
Blinded by the light.
Revved up like a deuce
Another runner in the night.
(With a boulder on my shoulder feelin' kinda older I tripped the merry-go-round
With this very unpleasing sneezing and wheezing the calliope crashed to the ground)
Blinded by the light.
Revved up like a deuce
Another runner in the night.
Blinded by the light.
Revved up like a deuce
Another runner in the night.
(And now Scott with a slingshot finally found a tender spot and throws his lover in the sand
And some bloodshot forget-me-not whispers daddy's within earshot save the buckshot turn up the band.)
Blinded by the light.
Revved up like a deuce
Another runner in the night.
Blinded by the light.
Revved up like a deuce
Another runner in the night.
(Some silicone sister with her manager mister told me I got what it takes
She said I'll turn you on sonny to something strong)
She got down but she never got tired,
She's gonna make it through the night.
@douche nozzles yet again????
Princess cards she sends me with her regards
Barroom eyes shine vacancy, to see her you gotta look hard
Wounded deep in battle, I stand stuffed like some soldier undaunted
To her Cheshire smile, I'll stand on file, she's all I ever wanted
But you let your blue walls get in the way of these facts
Honey, get your carpetbaggers off my back
You wouldn't even give me time to cover my tracks
You said, "Here's your mirror and your ball and jacks"
But they're not what I came for, and I'm sure you see that too
[CHORUS]
I came for you, for you, I came for you
But you did not need my urgency
I came for you, for you, I came for you
But your life was one long emergency
And your cloud line urges me
And my electric surges free
Crawl into my ambulance, your pulse is getting weak
Reveal yourself all now to me, girl, while you've got the strength to speak
'Cause they're waiting for you at Bellevue with their oxygen masks
But I could give it all to you now, if only you could ask
And don't call for your surgeon, even he says it's too late
It's not your lungs this time, it's your heart that holds your fate
Don't give me my money, honey, I don't want it back
You and your pony face and your Union Jack
Well, take your local joker and teach him how to act
I swear I was never that way, even when I really cracked
Didn't you think I knew that you were born with the power of a locomotive
Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound?
And your Chelsea suicide with no apparent motive
You could laugh and cry in a single sound
And your strength is devastating in the face of all these odds
Remember how I kept you waiting when it was my turn to be the god?
You were not quite half so proud when I found you broken on the beach
Remember how I poured salt on your tongue and hung just out of reach
And the band, they played the homecoming theme as I caressed your cheek
That ragged, jagged melody, she still clings to me like a leech
But that medal you wore on your chest always got in the way
Like a little girl with a trophy so soft to buy her way
We were both hitchhikers but you had your ear tuned to the roar
Of some metal-tempered engine on an alien, distant shore
So you left to find a better reason than the one we were living for
And it's not that nursery mouth that I came back for
It's not the way you're stretched out on the floor
'Cause I've broken all your windows and I've rammed through all your doors
And who am I to ask you to lick my sores?
And you should know that's true
Let's get done being douchey? K????
@ and you should know thats true
OOOH turn it up Sarge, thats my Jam
I came for you!
Didn't you think I knew that you were born with the power of a locomotive.
Hit it Sarge!
In the shuffling madness
Of the locomotive breath,
Runs the all-time loser,
Headlong to his death.
He feels the piston scraping --
Steam breaking on his brow --
Thank God, he stole the handle and
The train won't stop going --
No way to slow down.
He sees his children jumping off
At the stations -- one by one.
His woman and his best friend --
In bed and having fun.
He's crawling down the corridor
On his hands and knees --
Old Charlie stole the handle and
The train won't stop going --
No way to slow down.
He hears the silence howling --
Catches angels as they fall.
And the all-time winner
Has got him by the balls.
He picks up Gideon's Bible --
Open at page one --
God stole the handle and
The train won't stop going --
No way to slow down.
@get a room????
We don't need no stinkin room!!!!!
Hot in.....
So hot in herre.....

[Nelly]

Flirtatcious, tryin to show faces
Lookin for the right time to shoot my steam (you know)
Lookin for the right time to flash them keys
Then um I'm leavin, please believin
Me and the rest of my heathens
Check it, got it locked at the top of the four seasons
Penthouse, roof top, birds I feedin
No deceivin, nothin up my sleeve, no teasin
I need you to get up up on the dance floor
Give that man what he askin for
Cuz I feel like bustin loose and I feel like touchin you
And cant nobody stop the juice so baby tell me whats the use

I am gettin so hot, I wanna take my clothes off
[Nelly]
Why you at the bar if you aint poppin the bottles
What good is all the fame if you aint fuckin the models
I see you drivin, sportscar, aint hittin the throttle
And I be down, and do a hundred, top down and goggles
Get off the freeway, exit 106 and parked it
Ash tray, flip gate, time to spark it
Gucci collar for dollar, got out and walked it
I spit game cuz baby I cant talk it
Warm, sweatin its hot up in this joint
VOKAL tanktop, on at this point
Your with a winner so baby you cant loose
I got secrets cant leave Cancun
So take it off like your home alone
You know dance in front your mirror while your on the phone
Checkin your reflection and tellin your best friend,
like "girl I think my butt gettin big"
[Hook x2]

I'm just kiddin like Jason (Oh)
Unless you gon' do it
Extra, extra eh, spread the news
Nelly took a trip from the Lunner to Neptune
Came back with somethin thicker than fittin in sasoons
Say she like to think about cuttin in restrooms
[Hook x4]

TGIF...and its 5 o'clock somewhere....
@ Hey now...country grammar in da house/dus
He's STL grown like yours truely!
Mmmmm you can find me in St. Louie
Where the gun play ring all day (nanana)
Some got jobs and some sell yay'
Others just smoke and fuck all day
I'm from the home of Red Fox, Ced the Entertainer
Jetting off with Brian Cox, I'll see you later
Maybe not 'cause I got something hot
In the Navigata, waiting in the parking lot
A Bad Boy, on a Ryde Ruff-er than The LOX
I keep 'em both cocked, need her ass the bring it
Now tell me boys have you seen her?
Have you seen her, nine millimeter
Making niggas believers
Hop out the two seater, now vocal wife beater
Levi's fresh from the cleaners
Heavy starch with the cuff
Like fuck it leave it to beaver
Catch me in the galleria, plaza, Chesterfield
Rolling down handly hills
And the blocks of Pattonville
I used to love it when hit me for a rocker
Maybe a boppa, I kept it proper
A non-stopper, around the clocka
Now it's cool pull up the bends and helicopter
uh
[Chorus]
Sunday morning, crack of dawn and I'm yawning
Natural bridge and kings highway is where I'm going
Wake up man and start blowing
Gotta get those juices flowing
Now I'm gonna tell you one more time
For your cats that just ain't knowing
Hey, you can find me in St. Louie
And the whole me fedy and leasy getting slow
Grabbing the optomo, sharping up my flow
Practicing for my shows
That's usually how it goes
We be ready to go, the chronic already rolled
Swing through O'Fallon sounds
Knocking out of control
Like a boom boom boom, who is it?
It's Jackie Frost, the one who's getting where he at
And he told you who's the boss
I'm like a human hot sauce
Thinking I'll burn your thoughts
Your information was false
I'll show you just what it costs
In the M I crooked letter crooked letter O U R I
No one could do it better, hey
[Chorus]
Now in the middle we keep it crock and jiggy
Love Pac and Biggie
The way that you love your sticky
Call Louie he have you pissy
Mix with hen and crissy
Bumping Tim and Missy
With Slim he used to diss me
In the red Expedishy
That's Okay though, she can ride for the day though
Can't even be a house guest like Kato
I'm a dog I said it rough
Now call me snoopy
Wouldn't have me in a hoopie
Now you see me in a coupie
In front of utopia, I'm hoping you
Come down herd chipping, may I'm toasting ya
Thanksgiving in these parts yo we roasting ya
And when the heat come down
Get ghosting ya (god bless us)
Loax with us, just how he jokes with us
My daddy told me that I'm supposed to bust
Don't be provoking us
It ain't no joke in us
Just the north south east west coasting us
@ this ain't yer grammas grammer......
Oh, oh, Carmelina,The daughter
of the wealthy banker.
Since she came to town
all my friends are gone,
And I'm stuck
out here with melody.
Saddle up the palomino,
the sun is going down.
The way I feel,
this must be real.
If you can't cut it,
don't pick up the knife.
There's no reward
in your conscience stored
When you're sleepin'
with another man's wife.
Saddle up the palomino,
the sun is going down.
The way I feel,
this must be real.
I wanna lick the platter,
the gravy doesn't matter.
It's a cold bowl of chili
when love lets you down,
But it's the neighbor's wife
I'm after.
Saddle up the palomino,
the sun is going down.
The way I feel,
this must be real.
Damn, Neil certainly cuts to the chase......
@ Manfred Mann
OK one more by these fellas cause its a stone cold groove...
Crazy Janey and her mission man
Were back in the alley tradin' hands
'Long came Wild Billy with his friend G-Man
All duded up for Saturday night
Well, Billy slammed on his coaster brakes
And said, "Anybody wanna go on up to Greasy Lake?
It's about a mile down on the dark side of Route 88
I got a bottle of rosé so let's try it
We'll pick up Hazy Davy and Killer Joe
And I'll take you all out to where the gypsy angels go
They're build like light
And they dance like spirits in the night (all night), in the night (all night)
Oh, you don't know what they can do to you
Spirits in the night (all night), in the night (all night)
Stand up right now and let them shoot through you"
Well now, Wild Billy was a crazy cat
And he shook some dust out of his coonskin cap
He said, "Trust some of this, it'll show you where you're at
Or at least it'll help you really feel it"
By the time we made it up to Greasy Lake
I had my head out the window and Janey's fingers were in the cake
I think I really dug her 'cause I was too loose to fake
I said, "I'm hurt." She said, "Honey, let me heal it"
And we danced all night to a soul fairy band
And she kissed me just right, like only a lonely angel can
She felt so nice
Just as soft as a spirit in the night (all night), in the night (all night)
Janey don't know what she do to you
Spirit in the night (all night), in the night (all night)
Stand right up and let her shoot through me
Now, the night was bright and the stars threw light
On Billy and Davy dancin' in the moonlight
They were down near the water in a stone mud fight
Killer Joe gone passed out on the lawn
Well now, Hazy Davy got really hurt
He ran into the lake in just his socks and his shirt
Me and Crazy Janey was makin' love in the dirt
Singin' our birthday songs
Janey said it was time to go
So we closed our eyes and said goodbye to Gypsy Angel Row
Felt so right
Together we moved like spirits in the night (all night), in the night (all night)...
@now for a little Emmy Lou, k Ellie Mae?
My mamma and my daddy
Told me that love is a two-way street
But lately baby, you've been finding
New ways of dragging your feet
So come on, make your best shot
You don't have to take the blame
I'll be your belle star
You can be my Jesse James
There's lonely people everywhere
From Abilene to Arkansas
The way they run for cover
You'd think love was against the law
Well i don't need a pistol , baby
You won't have to rob a train
You can be my belle star
And i can be your Jesse James
I know you've done some hard time
Baby, and you've got your doubts
When you feel surrounded
And it's looking there's no way out
I'll come riding to rescue
All you gotta do is call my name
I'll be your belle star
You can be my Jesse James
It don't take a genius, baby
There ain't no big mystery
You can't play it safe
And still go down in history
So saddle up the horses
'Cos we're headed for the hall of fame
I'll be your belle star
You can be my Jesse James
I'll be your belle star
You can be my Jesse James

@ like a baby sitting on a woman's knee....
Obscure lyrical reference...I admit....but I love Larry Campbell.....
Tweedle-dee Dum and Tweedle-dee Dee
They’re throwing knives into the tree
Two big bags of dead man’s bones
Got their noses to the grindstones
Living in the Land of Nod
Trustin’ their fate to the Hands of God
They pass by so silently
Tweedle-dee Dum and Tweedle-dee Dee
Well, they’re going to the country, they’re gonna retire
They’re taking a street car named Desire
Looking in the window at the pecan pie
Lot of things they’d like they would never buy
Neither one gonna turn and run
They’re making a voyage to the sun
“His Master’s voice is calling me”
Says Tweedle-dee Dum to Tweedle-dee Dee
Tweedle-dee Dee and Tweedle-dee Dum
All that and more and then some
They walk among the stately trees
They know the secrets of the breeze
Tweedle-dee Dum said to Tweedle-dee Dee
“Your presence is obnoxious to me”
They’re like babies sittin’ on a woman’s knee
Tweedle-dee Dum and Tweedle-dee Dee
Well, the rain beating down on my window pane
I got love for you and it’s all in vain
Brains in the pot, they’re beginning to boil
They’re dripping with garlic and olive oil
Tweedle-dee Dee—he’s on his hands and his knees
Saying, “Throw me somethin’, Mister, please”
“What’s good for you is good for me”
Says Tweedle-dee Dum to Tweedle-dee Dee
Well, they’re living in a happy harmony
Tweedle-dee Dum and Tweedle-dee Dee
They’re one day older and a dollar short
They’ve got a parade permit and a police escort
They’re lying low and they’re makin’ hay
They seem determined to go all the way
They run a brick-and-tile company
Tweedle-dee Dum and Tweedle-dee Dee
Well a childish dream is a deathless need
And a noble truth is a sacred dream
My pretty baby, she’s lookin’ around
She’s wearin’ a multi-thousand dollar gown
Tweedle-dee Dee is a lowdown, sorry old man
Tweedle-dee Dum, he’ll stab you where you stand
“I’ve had too much of your company,”
Says Tweedle-dee Dum to Tweedle-dee Dee

Eight days a week
Is not enough to show I care
Ooh I need your love babe
Guess you know it's true
Hope you need my love babe
Just like I need you
Hold me, love me, hold me, love me
Ain't got nothing but love babe
Eight days a week

@Belle Starr.....
As I ride into the sunset, Sarge will leave you with this memory.....
Hurry hop on....Hi Ho Silver!!!!!!.......
Hot chili peppers in the blistering sun
Dust on my face and my cape
Me and Magdalena on the run
I think this time we shall escape
Sold my guitar to the baker’s son
For a few crumbs and a place to hide
But I can get another one
And I’ll play for Magdalena as we ride
No Ilores, mi querida
Dios nos vigila
Soon the horse will take us to Durango
Agarrame, mi vida
Soon the desert will be gone
Soon you will be dancing the fandango
Past the Aztec ruins and the ghosts of our people
Hoofbeats like castanets on stone
At night I dream of bells in the village steeple
Then I see the bloody face of Ramon
Was it me that shot him down in the cantina
Was it my hand that held the gun?
Come, let us fly, my Magdalena
The dogs are barking and what’s done is done
No Ilores, mi querida
Dios nos vigila
Soon the horse will take us to Durango
Agarrame, mi vida
Soon the desert will be gone
Soon you will be dancing the fandango
At the corrida we’ll sit in the shade
And watch the young torero stand alone
We’ll drink tequila where our grandfathers stayed
When they rode with Villa into Torreón
Then the padre will recite the prayers of old
In the little church this side of town
I will wear new boots and an earring of gold
You’ll shine with diamonds in your wedding gown
The way is long but the end is near
Already the fiesta has begun
The face of God will appear
With His serpent eyes of obsidian
No Ilores, mi querida
Dio nos vigila
Soon the horse will take us to Durango
Agarrame, mi vida
Soon the desert will be gone
Soon you will be dancing the fandango
Was that the thunder that I heard?
My head is vibrating, I feel a sharp pain
Come sit by me, don’t say a word
Oh, can it be that I am slain?
Quick, Magdalena, take my gun
Look up in the hills, that flash of light
Aim well my little one
We may not make it through the night
No Ilores, mi querida
Dios nos vigila
Soon the horse will take us to Durango
Agarrame, mi vida
Soon the desert will be gone
Soon you will be dancing the fandango
Have a great weekend, God willing and the creek don't rise be back faster than 2 shakes of a lambs tail....not sure what that means but my dad used to say it.....probably a good thing.....Say hi to Matt!!!!

@hearts (how I feel about the SD group)
Hearing - Talking - Yes I - Love you
Set your heart sail on the river
Look around you as you drift downstream
Pouring souls into the ocean
Take account of all you've seen
Hearing
Talking
Love you
One people - Together
Freedom for today
So easy the future
So see the children's way
Love me
Teach me
Know me
One people - Together
Freedom for today
Tomorrow forever
So see the people's way
Many moons cascade one river
They light from side to side
As we cross in close proximity
Like rivers our hearts entwine
How we talk - How we teach our children
How we move - We direct our eyes
All the senses tuned discovery
As and as and when our hearts decide
Be ready now - Be ye circle
Be the central force ye life
As the game extends the cycle
Be ready to move
One heart's for love
One's for giving
Two hearts are better
Than one
I hearing it
I living it
I believe in it
Two hearts are better
Than one
Hearts
Sailing down the river
Hearts
Throwing out a line
Hearts
Sharing out your fortunes
Hearts
In and out of time
Hearing - Talking - Yes I - Love
One heart's for love
One's for giving
Two hearts are better
Than one
I hearing it
I living it
I believe in it
I loving it
Two hearts are better
Than one
Hearts
Sailing down the river
Hearts
Throwing out a line
Hearts
Sharing out your fortunes
Hearts
In and out of time
Who would believe you - Wise men do
Days that we knew it clear with you
You sing the answers question time
Now it you need me let our hearts entwine
Let our hearts entwine
Hearts - Sailing down the river
Hearts - Throwing out a line
I hearing it - I living it - I believe in it - I loving it
Hearts
Two hearts will always be
In and out of time
One heart's for love
One's for giving
Two hearts are better
Than one
I hearing it
I living it
I believe in it
I loving it
Two hearts are better
Than one
Hearts
Sailing down the river
Hearts
Throwing out a line
Hearts
Sharing out your fortunes
Hearts
In and out of time
As we flow down life's rivers
I see the stars glow - One by one
All angels of the magic constellation
Be singing us now
(35 hearts are much better than 1!)
@ little lambs eat ivy
Have you ever seen a lamb shake its tail? it's like a little cockerspaniel, wiggle wiggle.
Have a great weekend as well. Hopefully the creek dont rise or we'll float away here in STL all the wat down to New Orleans
here's a throwback classic rock tune played on the local channels
Everyone's watching to see what you will do
Everyone's looking at you, oh
Everyone's wondering will you come out tonight
Everyone's trying to get it right, get it right
Everybody's working for the weekend
Everybody wants a new romance
Everybody's going off the deep end
Everybody needs a second chance, oh
You want a piece of my heart?
You better start from the start
You want to be in the show?
C'mon baby, let's go
Everyone's looking to see if it was you
Everyone wants you to come through
Everyone's hoping it'll all work out
Everyone's waiting to hold you out
Everybody's working for the weekend
Everybody wants a new romance, hey yeah
Everybody's going off the deep end
Everybody needs a second chance, oh
You want a piece of my heart?
You better start from the start
You want to be in the show?
C'mon baby, let's go
Hey!
You want a piece of my heart?
You better start from the start
You want to be in the show?
C'mon baby, let's go
You want a piece of my heart?
You better start from the start
You want to be in the show?
C'mon baby, let's go

Nick Lowe, Dave Edmunds, Billy Bremner and Terry Williams...
Monday ain't a fun day, Tuesday's a blue day
Wednesday's a frenzy, Thursday's the worst day
Friday is great 'cause I can
Hardly wait until the weekend
I should be clockin' in at eight but I'm a little late
Can't blame my baby, 'cause I took her on a date
Two till ten and then it's Friday again
Here comes the weekend
Here comes the weekend
Here comes the weekend
My working week's so tough
I think I've had enough
Until the weekend
I've had an overdose of doctor's notes
But it just don't ease the pain
Goin' on the sick don't do the trick
Sooner or later I'll be clockin' in again
Working like a dog more than ten-hour day
Never see enough from my take-home pay
They pay me for the shift like I was given a gift
Here comes the weekend
I've had an overdose of doctor's notes
But it just don't ease the pain
Goin' on the sick don't do the trick
Sooner or later I'll be clockin' in again
Someday I'll be able to forget my working days
Life will be a grin because my ship is comin' in
Everything will go my way and I won't have to say
Here comes the weekend
Here comes the weekend
Here comes the weekend
My working week's so tough
I think I've had enough
Until the weekend
Here comes the weekend
Here comes the weekend
Here comes the weekend
Here comes the weekend
@ No2
So Chicago bomb and arson squad was called out on Wednesday to examine an empty cannister close to Soldier Field..authorities were relieved to find it wasn't a bomb...only an empty laughing gas tank. Imagine that....
Are they blind, how could they have missed that when it was going on unfortunately all weekend.
They were not being inconspicous at all. Balloons everywhere and guys like ice cold..right here.
Damn shame, hippy crack that is.
A laugh for the way my life has gone
A laugh for the love of a friend
A laugh for the fools in the eyes of the world
The love that will never end
Ha Ha Ha...
Let's hear a laugh for the man of the world
Who thinks he can make things work
Tried to build the New Jerusalem
And ended up with New York
Ha Ha Ha...
A laugh for the sun redballing
Through the thermal inversion haze
A laugh for the nuclear good-time boys
Numbering all our days
Ha Ha Ha...
A laugh for the newsprint nightmare
A world that never was
Where the questions are all "why?"
And the answers are all "because."
Ha Ha Ha...
A laugh for the dogs barking at our heels
They don't know where we've been
A laugh for the dirty window pane
Hiding the love within
Ha Ha Ha...
Tapping our feet to an ancient tune
A laugh for the time gone by
A laugh for me and Kitty in the delivery room
Waiting for the child's first cry
Ha Ha Ha...
