I can't quit herShe's got a hold on me
She got her hand on my soul
I can't quit her
'Cause I see her face everywhere I go
In the city streets, in the country fields
In the back of my mind
I know it can't be real
For a woman to possess
All the tenderness she had
But the hands of time
Keep tickin' on my back
'Cause it's been so long
Since I had her back beside me
Yeah, I know
I can't quit her
'Cause on my darkest night
She comes on like a light
I can't quit her
Try as I may, with all my might
She had a woman's touch
And a young girls eyes
And in seconds flat I was proselytized
Turned around
And made to feel sweet love
But the hands of time
Keep tickin' on my back
'Cause it's been so long
Since I had her back beside me
yeah
True love is somethin'
Ev'ry young boy knows about
And he fights his whole soul all the best to find some
I was a young boy
'Til I held her in my arms
Now I find that I'm strung out behind some, hey
I can't quit her
She got her hand on me
She got a hold on my soul
'Cause I your face everywhere I go
I can't quit her, woo ooo yeah, I know
You know I see your face
Everywhere I go!
I need her...I need the little girl
@put on the air conditioner, please......
New York was cold and dampTV is just a blank
Looks like another dead end Sunday
What about an early night
Monday never feels so bright
Ooh the sheets feel cold and lonely
Who wants to brave the pouring rain
For a glass of French champagne?
Well grab a cab, grab a cap and baby, come right by
And she was hot - as she kissed my mouth
She was hot - as I wiped her brow
She was hot - she pinned me to the ground
She was quick - she knew her way around
She was hot - as she tore my clothes
She was hot - she had no place to go
She was hot - on a cold and rainy night
Detroit was smoky grey
Nothing like the good old days
Well I got a fever that I'm fighting
I don't need your company
Leave me in my misery
I can take the rebound just like lightning
And she was hot - in a 50's dress
She was hot - her lips were flashing red
I was lost - in her burning flesh
I was hot - I was dripping sweat
She was hot - in the Detroit snow
She was hot - she had no place to go
She was hot - on a cold and rainy night
And she was hot - and I had the blues
She was hot - honey, where were you?
If you were in my shoes
You would be excused
She was hot - you can never wait
She was hot - never hesitate
She was hot - on a cold and rainy night
I think I'm going off the rails
Riding down the pleasure trails
I was taking passion where you find it
Honey when you were young and fresh
And you need the touch of your flesh
Go take the treasure where you find it
And she was hot - in the melted snow
She was hot - in the molten glow
She was hot - she got it in the blood
She was hot - like the dam that bursts
She was black - she was strong and true
She was black - and her eyes were blue
She was lost - and she took a chance
At just a brief romance
Down the avenue into the lost bayou
Into the tall bamboo, back to the human zoo
I wish you all the best, I hope we meet again
On a cold Chicago night
She was hot
She was hot
She was hot hot hot
She was hot hot hot
She was hot hot hot
She was hot hot hot
She was hot hot hot
She was hot hot hot
She was hot hot hot
She was hot hot hot
@Boo Boo....

Just riding the tidal waves.....treading water....
Too late to stop now.....
Have a good weekend....getting ready for my boy at Artpark.....
The music is in New York
Tom, get your plane right on timeI know your part'll go fine
Fly down to Mexico
Do-n-do-d-do-n-do and here I am,
The only living boy in New York
I get the news I need on the weather report
I can gather all the news I need on the weather report
Hey, I've got nothing to do today but smile
Do-n-doh-d-doh-n-doh and here I am
The only living boy in New York
Half of the time we're gone
But we don't know where,
And we don't know where
Half of the time we're gone
But we don't know where,
And we don't know where
Tom, get your plane right on time
I know you've been eager to fly now
Hey let your honesty shine, shine, shine now
Do-n-do-d-do-n-do
Like it shines on me
The only living boy in New York,
The only living boy in New York
Our Basic Problem: The tools don't match the function
The Sunshine Daydreamers are alive and well.
The Sunshine Daydreamers remain electrified by what happened in Chicago and want to continue to share the experience.
The tools we are using to get that done, however, are showing their weaknesses.
The flaws on the email side are apparent: the stream of consciousness, reply all activity can be exhilarating when there is a hot topic, but that is better suited to a chat room function, and so last week we had several more people withdraw from the email list in frustration.
The Dead.net forum has obvious shortcomings as well, principally that its only organization is chronological: if there had been a new Pearl of the Day several days ago from Meister Geo, I would only find it by wading back through pages of song lyrics; and then I would only be hoping to find something because there is no possibility to check if there is a new post from a particular individual.
It would seem to we need to all take a step forward, as one, to the SunshineDaydreamers.com site that was so generously organized for us.
There is a blog section that can have thematic organization (so that the discussion last week about which covers were played would not be spread over four email threads (none of the Subjects of which mentioned playlists nor covers)).
I have not seen enough posting to know for sure, but it seems possible that one can approach that forum and check to see who has made a new post, and then make a choice whether to have a look at the 196 posts by one person or the 3 posts from someone else.
Yes, there is a password, but we all had passwords on Dead.net where we started out, so that can't really be much of an obstacle.
Just sayin people, we need to channel this gusher of love and enthusiasm; got to make sure its built to last.
@Graceful...
Once again my friend, a spot-on post.
I'm as much to blame as anyone, especially given Geo's generosity to fund the SD.com URL.
Maybe it's the navigation, maybe it's the UI, but I could use a little schooling on say, how to get straight to the blogs, post & read, or, how to download & upload shared pics.
Anyone care to take a swag at a user manual/SD.com for dummies documentation?
@ the website and Ba Dus
It's fun being on the roab and listen to the banter an sing songs...when it is time to park, the website has a garage, and we can all pile out and hang out in the living room. Guess what's always playing?
@Another Pleasant Valley Sunday
Stones at Ralph Wilson Stadium last night..
Quite entertaining....more like a Broadway show, choreographed....
Can't help but think there was something behind the curtain....
Backing tracks ala ELO or Millie Vanilli
The show was too damn perfect....
Back in the 70's they were garage band sloppy, not last night.
Interesting this zip code tour set has a running time of 2 hours and 10 minutes....
Every show 2 hours and 10 minutes, not 9 not 11....
but I digress....
Glad I got to see them one more time, Mick for a 71 yo has the body of Twiggy....and a lot of energy...
IMO the night belonged to Charley Watts....the man can still bring it....
Now on to other matters....
Some folks trust to reason
Others trust to might
I don't trust to nothing
But I know it come out right
Say it once again now
Oh I hope you understand
When it's done and over
Lord, a man is just a man
Playing
Playing in the band
Daybreak
Daybreak on the land
Some folks look for answers
Others look for fights
Some folks up in treetops
Just look to see the sights
I can tell your future
Look what's in your hand
But I can't stop for nothing
I'm just playing in the band
Playing
Playing in the band
Daybreak
Daybreak on the land
Standing on a tower
World at my command
You just keep a turning
While I'm playing in the band
If a man among you
Got no sin upon his hand
Let him cast a stone at me
For playing in the band
Playing
Playing in the band
Daybreak
Daybreak on the land

@rrrgrrr glad you enjoyed the show last night. Props to the boys.
When that fat old sun in the sky is falling,
Summer evening birds are calling.
Summer's thunder time of year,
The sound of music in my ears.
Distant bells,
New mown grass smells so sweet.
By the river holding hands,
Roll me up and lay me down.
And if you sit,
Don't make a sound.
Pick your feet up off the ground.
And if you hear as the warm night falls
The silver sound from a time so strange,
Sing to me, sing to me.
When that fat old sun in the sky is falling,
Summer evening birds are calling.
Children's laughter in my ears,
The last sunlight disappears.

PANAMA RED, PANAMA RED
HE'LL STEAL YOUR WOMAN, THEN HE'LL ROB YOUR HEAD
PANAMA RED, PANAMA RED
ON HIS WHITE HORSE, MESCALITO
HE COME BREEZIN' THROUGH TOWN
I'LL BET YOUR WOMAN'S UP IN BED WITH
PANAMA RED
THE JUDGE DON'T KNOW WHEN RED'S IN TOWN
HE KEEPS WELL HIDDEN UNDERGROUND
BUT EVERYBODY'S ACTING LAZY
FALLING OUT AND HANGIN' 'ROUND
MY WOMAN SAID, "HEY PEDRO
YOU'RE ACTIN' CRAZY LIKE A CLOWN"
NOBODY FEELS LIKE WORKING
PANAMA RED IS BACK IN TOWN
CHORUS
EVERYBODY'S LOOKING OUT FOR HIM
'CAUSE THEY KNOW RED'S SATISFIES
LITTLE GIRLS LOVE TO LISTEN TO HIM
SING AND TELL SWEET LIES
BUT WHEN THINGS GET TOO CONFUSING, HONEY
YOU'RE BETTER OFF IN BED
AND I'LL BE SEARCHING ALL THE JOINTS IN TOWN FOR
PANAMA RED
@ Holly & Matt...
Hey now...GREAT PICS on the SD.com site - thanks guys !! I did see a way to "push" posts to my email o I'm getting them.
I have a few other mails to get through with some site tips and hopefully Geeky is drafting us an SD for dummies mail so sooner or later I'll get there :-)
Love to all !!
@ mkav
Maybe check with Zeke when he is back from vacay. He had to set up some stuff for my account.
This next tune about sums up life in STL right now...
Hot town, summer in the city
Back of my neck getting dirty and gritty
Been down, isn't it a pity
Doesn't seem to be a shadow in the city
All around, people looking half dead
Walking on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head
But at night it's a different world
Go out and find a girl
Come-on come-on and dance all night
Despite the heat it'll be alright
And babe, don't you know it's a pity
That the days can't be like the nights
In the summer, in the city
In the summer, in the city
Cool town, evening in the city
Dressing so fine and looking so pretty
Cool cat, looking for a kitty
Gonna look in every corner of the city
Till I'm wheezing like a bus stop
Running up the stairs, gonna meet you on the rooftop
But at night it's a different world
Go out and find a girl
Come-on come-on and dance all night
Despite the heat it'll be alright
And babe, don't you know it's a pity
That the days can't be like the nights
In the summer, in the city
In the summer, in the city
Hot town, summer in the city
Back of my neck getting dirty and gritty
Been down, isn't it a pity

@ fun at the office
rrrgrrr, I love confusing people at work! When my supervisor found out I was going to the shows, she was like wow, I never pegged you for a Dead head.
I guess you never can tell...
It was a teenage wedding,
and the old folks wished them well
You could see that Pierre
did truly love the mademoiselle
And now the young monsieur
and madame have rung the chapel bell,
"C'est la vie", say the old folks,
it goes to show you never can tell
They furnished off an apartment
with a two room Roebuck sale
The coolerator was crammed
with TV dinners and ginger ale,
But when Pierre found work,
the little money comin' worked out well
"C'est la vie", say the old folks,
it goes to show you never can tell
They had a hi-fi phono, boy, did they let it blast
Seven hundred little records,
all rock, rhythm and jazz
But when the sun went down,
the rapid tempo of the music fell
"C'est la vie", say the old folks,
it goes to show you never can tell
They bought a souped-up jitney,
'twas a cherry red '53,
They drove it down New Orleans
to celebrate their anniversary
It was there that Pierre was married
to the lovely mademoiselle
"C'est la vie", say the old folks,
it goes to show you never can tell
@Trixie and her thoughts
Thanks Marye-
She doesn't just leave the door open for more shows, she practically said start decorating your envelopes!
Very very positive interview and what a great heart she has.
Thank you again for the link.

@ Trixie
as quoted: Yeah, there’s a feeling that our fanbase wouldn’t be served if there were no more events. I think it’s pretty obvious to everybody. Everybody wants to go to more shows.
HELL YES WE WANT MORE SHOWS!!!
oooh weee, could it be?
just tell me where to sign up!
Dear Mister Fantasy play us a tune
Something to make us all happy
Do anything take us out of this gloom
Sing a song, play guitar, make it snappy
You are the one who can make us all laugh
But doing that you break out in tears
Please don't be sad if it was a straight mind you had
We wouldn't have known you all these years

lets here it for 50 more years of Grateful Dead!
@Rex Foundation....
marye, that was a beautiful read....I saw Bobby's guitar....Said to my wife...bet that goes for $10 grand... She looked at me and said...no! Half a million....at least....
....it ain't me, it's the people that say.....
smarter than the man in every way!
Our community goes much deeper than music, it's spirit, family, oneness, and helping....leaving Soldier Field each night....And I got a bum leg...and..that place is NOT handicapped accessible in the classic sense, don't know how they stay open... likely took 6 months off my lifespan limping my 2 miles to the shuttle to the hotel but I'd do it again in a heartbeat, the final night I saw 4 heads, carrying a guy in his wheelchair thru the crowd....made me cry.....if there were more people like us, the world would be a happier place....
Back on ba dus....bring on Ratdog with John Mayer....so what if his body is a wonderland? ;-)
every time I think I'm out....they pull me back in!
@ rrrgrrr
You can check out anytime you like...but you can NEVER leave!
I saw similar acts of kindness among deadheads. I witnessed a couple of guys carrying a girls wheelchair down the stairs and someone else was carrying her! I really dont think you could have that many people that weren't deadheads in one space without having utter chaos.
Remeber people being trampled to death at other rock shows...
Chaos and rioting after sporting events...
Not at a dead show!
We take care of our own.
We are true Americans!
We are the most humane humans there are!
PROUD TO BE A DEADHEAD!
@yes...but....
Summer 1995 near the end was an ugly year....was at a few shows where people stormed the gates and there were injuries....luckily I limped much quicker back then....;-)
All in all we are a kind breed....and happy to be a member of our dysfunctional organization....
@ true but...
I would venture to say that those who stormed the gates were not actual deadheads but merely people who wanted a taste of the magic or to obtain party favors etc...
There was a suspicious character who milled around me in the aisle on the Saturday show who I'm pretty sure was eyeing my dead50 tote bag and was thinking about lifting it. I was dancing and he was seated in teh aisle. As soon as I sat down he took off. He was acting sketchy...looking around all weird.
Those types of leeches always try to glom on the scene to suck what they can from it... They are the exception that proves the rule.
Meet me in the crowd, people, people
Throw your love around, love me, love me
Take it into town, happy, happy
Put it in the ground where the flowers grow
Gold and silver shine
Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people laughing
Everyone around, love them, love them
Put it in your hands, take it, take it
There's no time to cry, happy, happy
Put it in your heart where tomorrow shines
Gold and silver shine
Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people laughing
Whoa, here we go
Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people laughing
Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people laughing
Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people laughing
Shiny happy people holding hands
People, happy people

Little songs that you want to sing
A little song that you want to sing
You're blue

Have you heard the news
There's good rockin' at midnight
Oh, I'm gonna hold my baby
With all my might
What a wonderful time we had that night
Hey, hey, there's good rockin' at midnight
Have you heard the news
There's good rockin' at midnight
Oh, I'm gonna hold my baby
With all my might
What a wonderful time we had that night
Hey, hey, there's good rockin' at midnight
Now sweet Chalky Brown and sweet Lorraine
They got caught on Caledonia's land
Soon pretty soon they told it all
Those fellahs got drunk and they had a ball
Crying hey, hey
There's good rockin' at midnight
Well, two times
Well, I tell y'all about now deacon John
He got so high they had to take him home
Hear the news about Ella Brown
He stole a chicken and he ran out of town
Hey, hey, there's good rockin' at midnight
Caledonia got drunk and grinning like a pig
She fell down and she lost her wig
Charlie Brown she laughed and she got sick
And Caledonia got mad and grabbed a brick
Crying hey, hey, there's good rockin' at midnight
Oh now let's go two times
Oh yeah Oh yeah, wanna tell you all about now deacon John
He got so high they had to take him home
Here's the news about Ella Brown
He stole a lot of chickens and he ran out of town
Crying hey, hey there's good rockin' at midnight
Now, now, now Caledonia got drunk and grinning like a pig
She fell down and lost her wig
Charlie Brown she laughed and she got sick
Caledonia got mad and she grabbed a brick
Crying hey, hey there's good rockin' at midnight
Uh, mmmm, rock
Gonna rock Gonna rock
Gonna rock Gonna rock
Gonna rock Well yeah I'm gonna rock
Gonna rock We gonna rock
Ooh-hoo yeah we're gonna rock We're gonna rock
There's still rockin' at midnight, midnight, midnight, midnight, yeah

Now sweet Chalky Brown and sweet Lorraine
They got caught on Caledonia's land
Soon pretty soon they told it all
Those girls got drunk and they had a ball
Crying hey, hey there's good rockin' at midnight

Ooh-ah-yeah Ooh yeah Ooh yeah
@ And furthermore my self control I can't rely on anymore
mmm hmmm...Robert Plant is Holly approved!
On waves of love my heart is breaking
And stranger still my self control I can't rely on anymore
New tides surprise - my world it's changing
Within this frame an ocean swells - behind this smile I know it well
Beneath a lover's moon I'm waiting
I am the pilot of the storm - adrift in pleasure I may drown
I built this ship - it is my making
And furthermore my self control I can't rely on anymore
I know why - I know why
Crazy on a ship of fools
Crazy on a ship of fools
Turn this boat around - back to my loving ground
Who claims that no man is an island
While I land up in jeopardy - more distant from you by degrees
I walk this shore in isolation
And at my feet eternity draws ever sweeter plans for me
I know why - I know why
Crazy on a ship of fools
Crazy on a ship of fools
Turn this boat around - back to my loving ground
Oh no, oh no - ship of fools --
@no self control.....
I will leave you with this little ditty......
Wanna tell you about the girl I love
My she looks so fine
She's the only one that I been dreamin' of
Maybe someday she will be all mine
I wanna tell her that I love her so
I thrill with her every touch
I need to tell her she's the only one I really love
I got a woman, wanna ball all day
I got a woman, she won't be true, no
I got a woman, stay drunk all the time
I said I got a little woman and she won't be true
Sunday morning when we go down to church
See the menfolk standin' in line
I said they come to pray to the Lord
With my little girl, looks so fine
In the evening when the sun is sinkin' low
Everybody's with the one they love
I walk the town, Keep a-searchin' all around
Lookin' for my street corner girl
I got a woman, wanna ball all day
I got a woman, she won't be true, no no
I got a woman, stay drunk all the time
I said I got a little woman and she won't be true
In the bars, with the men who play guitars
Singin', drinkin' and rememberin' the times
My little lover does a midnight shift
She followed around all the time
I guess there's just one thing a-left for me to do
Gonna pack my bags and move on my way
Cause I got a worried mind
Sharin' what I thought was mine
Gonna leave her where the guitars play
I got a woman, she won't be true, no no
I got a woman, wanna ball all day
I got a woman, stay drunk all the time
I got a little woman and she won't be true
(Hey hey what can I do)
I said she won't be true
(Hey Hey, What can I say?)

I got a woman, wanna ball all day
Think we are gonna keep you around HAnk....Matt too....

@ Road Trip
Have Dead will travel! You better bet your sweet dus we'll be there with bells on!
Now about the mail order...need some splainin'
Trying to work, but its not working!
I don't want to work
I want to bang on the drum all day
I don't want to play
I just want to bang on the drum all day
Ever since I was a tiny boy
I don't want no candy
I don't need no toy
I took a stick and an old coffee can
I bang on that thing til I got
Blisters on my hand because
I don't want to work
I want to bang on the drum all day
Yes, I do
I don't want to play
I just want to bang on the drum all day
That's right
When I get older they think I'm a fool
The teacher told me I should stay after school
She caught me pounding on the desk with my hands
But my licks was so hot
I made the teacher wanna dance
And that's why
I don't want to work
I want to bang on the drum all day
Hey, why not?
I don't want to play
I just want to bang on the drum all day
I don't want to work
I want to bang on the drum all day
I don't want to play
I just want to bang on the drum all day
Listen to this
Every day when I get home from work
I feel so frustrated
The boss is a jerk
And I get my sticks and go out to the shed
And I pound on that drum like it was the boss's head
Because
I don't want to work
I want to bang on the drum all day
I don't want to play
I just want to bang on the drum all day
I can bang that drum
I don't want to work
I want to bang on the drum all day
I don't want to play
I just want to bang on the drum all day
I don't want to work
I want to bang on the drum all day
Hey, you wanna take a bang at it?
I don't want to play
I just want to bang on the drum all day
I don't want to work
I want to bang on the drum all day
I don't want to play
I just want to bang on the drum all day
I can do this all day
@everybody I love you aka shameless plug....
My boys band CD reviewed....
Savannah KingSavannah and The Kings
- Bold & Unsteady -
When Savannah King started playing music she set out as an independent solo alternative folk artist with a guitar, great voice and plenty of well written songs. Along the way she picked up three amazing band mates (Mark Bamann -lead guitar, Loren Metzger -drums and Scott Gergelis -bass) andmorphed into a front person for her band Savannah and The Kings.
Their new release Bold & Unsteadyis filled with memorable melodies and King's lilting voice all framed by the band's no frills approach. Touches of jazz (courtesy of Gergelis' outstanding upright bass playing), pop, folk and indie rock meld together for a cohesive sound. No self-indulgent doodling, no gimmicks, no unnecessary window dressings among the arrangements. Highlights among the twelve tracks include the album opener "Sour Milk", "Rabbit Run", "Are You Salt?", "Let Me Go" and "Houdini". The tracks "It's Just Water" and "Fruit Tree" are standouts as well. King and her band keep a busy live calendar playing everywhere from intimate clubs to large summer venues. @ Hey now Scott aka rrrgrrr Jr.
Great review for a great band with a great bass player!
Does papa bear have any musical talent?
@carrying a tune in a bucket.....at least I'm enjoying the ride
the boy gets it from the better half's side.....
btw....Rory Gallagher was amazing....just found him on SXM Deep Tracks......
Irish Stevie Ray Vaughn.....for lack of a better analogy....
recommend Irish Tour album to start with...
This hotel bar is full of people,
The piano man is really laying it down,
The old bartender is as high as a steeple,
So why tonight should I wear a frown?
The joint is jumpin' all around me,
And my mood is really not in style,
Right now the blues flock to surround me,
But I'll break out after a while.
Yes I'm a million miles away,
I'm a million miles away,
I'm sailing like a driftwood,
On a windy bay,
On a windy bay.
I'm a million miles away,
I'm a million miles away,
But I'm sailing like a driftwood,
On a windy bay,
On a windy bay.
Why ask how I feel,
Well, how does it look to you?
I fell hook, line and sinker,
Lost my captain and my crew.
I'm standing on the landing,
There's no one there but me,
That's where you'll find me,
Looking out on the deep blue sea.
There's a song on the lips of everybody,
There's a smile all around the room,
There's conversation overflowing,
But I sit here with the blues.
This hotel bar has lost all its people,
The piano man has caught the last bus home,
The old bartender just collapsed in the corner,
Why I'm still here, I just don't know,
I don't know.
I'm a million miles away,
A million miles away,
I'm sailing like a driftwood on a windy bay,
On a windy bay.
I'm a million miles away,
A million miles away,
I'm sailing like a driftwood on a windy bay,
Send me away...
@ Irish Rock
Checking out now, thanks for turnin me on to new/old music!
Listening to Bullfrog Blues... good analogy, his hair is like Stevie too. The good guitarists die young!
rich, you're so right
f there were more people like us, the world would be a happier place....
@Holly
Sorry for your loss.....
Come forth, from love's pyre
Born in life's fire,
Born in life's fire
Come forth, from love's pyre
In the burning, of our yearning
For life to be
And in pain there will (must) be gain
New Life!
Stirring in salty streams
And dark hidden seams
Where the fossil sun gleams
They were, sent from (to) the gates
Ride the tides of fate
Ride the tides of fate
They were, sent from (to) the gates
In the burning of our yearning
For life to be
There is no end to my life, no beginning to my death....
....death is life......
it's the wheel HAnk.....
Carpe' diem....
@ wheel of life
Thanks, silly kids just don't know when to quit.
So this young man used to date this girl and I met them when I first moved to STL when I was 18. They parted ways but we all stayed friends.
Then one day she decided she'd had enough and jumped off a parking garage at university of missouri stl. Today he was found dead...and not gratefully so. I've been losing my friends since I was 15. Its so weird being this young and knowing so many dead people.
I love you guys and you already know I want to be an organ donor. Though I plan on going nowhere but the great outdoors. Go hug someone for me...
@shit happens.....
I know....and I miss Jerry......
Its my life's metaphor for all I've lost in my nearly 57 years....parents, friends, relatives, my own mobility for chrissakes.....
Gotta be mindful kid, live in the moment, nobody guaranteed us a tomorrow...
Every minute that you are aware of your surroundings, and there are loads of distractions preventing that, do something kind for someone, anyone....that way when you're gone, you will leave this earth a better place.....
Cuz it's not about us......you or me....it's about US!,,,, on a grander scale.....
done pontificating.....getting ready for the mines.....that's where I mainly spend my time......
peace from my pipe.....
@PeacePipe
Sorry for the losses. Light & Love be with them, Light & Love be with us all. But we're all bound to cover just a little more ground, right?
Loved Trixie's interview. Looking forward to some shows. I knew there'd be more, but all the confirmation make-a-me happy.
All I can say after reading these posts is Thank Great Spirit for Dead Heads and all they're kind acts of good goodness, kind kind-heartedness, and exploration into the higher realms of consciousness.
I think I'm gonna go sit in the grass with flowers in my hair...I love Zep too;)
@ life goes on
The show must go on as well. I'm OK just swimming in melancholy. I need some more loving deadhead vibes to see me through. Can we go back to the circus?
It began when they come took me from my home
And put me in Dead Row,
Of which I am nearly wholly innocent, you know.
And I'll say it again
I.. am.. not.. afraid.. to.. die.
I began to warm and chill
To objects and their fields,
A ragged cup, a twisted mop
The face of Jesus in my soup
Those sinister dinner deals
The meal trolley's wicked wheels
A hooked bone rising from my food
All things either good or ungood.
And the mercy seat is waiting
And I think my head is burning
And in a way I'm yearning
To be done with all this measuring of proof.
An eye for an eye
A tooth for a tooth
And anyway I told the truth
And I'm not afraid to die.
Interpret signs and catalogue
A blackened tooth, a scarlet fog.
The walls are bad. Black. Bottom kind.
They are sick breath at my hind
They are sick breath at my hind
They are sick breath at my hind
They are sick breath gathering at my hind
I hear stories from the chamber
How Christ was born into a manger
And like some ragged stranger
Died upon the cross
And might I say, it seems so fitting in its way
He was a carpenter by trade
Or at least that's what I'm told
Like my good hand
tattooed E.V.I.L. across it's brother's fist
That filthy five! They did nothing to challenge or resist.
In Heaven His throne is made of gold
The ark of his Testament is stowed
A throne from which I'm told
All history does unfold.
Down here it's made of wood and wire
And my body is on fire
And God is never far away.
Into the mercy seat I climb
My head is shaved, my head is wired
And like a moth that tries
To enter the bright eye
So I go shuffling out of life
Just to hide in death awhile
And anyway I never lied.
My kill-hand is called E.V.I.L.
Wears a wedding band that's G.O.O.D.
'Tis a long-suffering shackle
Collaring all that devil blood.
And the mercy seat is a-burning
And I think my head is flowing
And in a way I'm hoping
To be done with all this weighing up of truth.
An eye for an eye
And a tooth for a tooth
And I've got nothing left to lose
And I'm not afraid to die.
And the mercy seat is waiting
And I think my head is burning
And in a way I'm yearning
To be done with all this measuring of proof
An eye for an eye
And a tooth for a tooth
And anyway, there was no proof
And nor a motive why.
And the mercy seat is waiting
And I think my head is burning
And in a way I'm yearning
To be done with all this measuring of proof.
A life for a life
And a tooth for a tooth
And anyway there was no proof
And I'm not afraid to die.
Now the mercy seat is waiting
And I think my head is smoking
And in a way I'm hoping
To be done with all these looks of disbelief.
A eye for an eye
And a tooth for a tooth
And anyway I told the truth
And I'm not afraid to die.
And the mercy seat is waiting
And I think my head is burning
And in a way I'm yearning
To be done with all this measuring of proof
An eye for an eye
And a tooth for a tooth
And anyway I told the truth
And I'm not afraid to die.
And the mercy seat is waiting
And I think my head is burning
And in a way I'm yearning
To be done with all this measuring of proof.
A eye for a eye
And a tooth for a tooth
And anyway I told the truth
But I'm not afraid to lie.
And the mercy seat is waiting
And I think my head is burning
And in a way I'm yearning
To be done with all this measuring of proof
An eye for an eye
And a tooth for a tooth
And anyway I told the truth
But I'm afraid I told a lie.
@now we are talkin' Miami......
Matt excuse me, but...ma'am can I have this dance....?
I said the joint was rocking
Goin' round and round
Yeah, reeling and a rocking
What a crazy sound
And they never stopped rocking
Til the moon went down
Well it sounds so sweet
I had to take me chance
Rose out of my seat
I just had to dance
Started moving my feet
Whoa to clapping my hands
I said the joint was a rocking
Goin' round and round
Yeah, reeling and a rocking
What a crazy sound
And they never stopped rocking
Til the moon went down
Yeah at twelve o'clock
Yeah the place was packed
Front doors was locked
Yeah the place was packed
And when the police knocked
Those doors flew back
But they kept on rocking
Goin' round and round
Yeah, reeling and a rocking
What a crazy sound
And they never stopped rocking
Til the moon went down
And they go on rocking
Goin' round and round
Yeah, reeling and a rocking
What a crazy sound
And they never stopped rocking
Til the moon went down
Well the joint stayed a rocking
Goin' round and round
Yeah, reeling and a rocking
What a crazy sound
And they never stopped rocking
Til the moon went down
Sorry was caught up in the moment....Holly keep on keeping on....and Matt thanks....
Life goes on....
@ ready for the floor
rrrgrrr, this dance is for you...
We get it on most every night
When that moon is big and bright
It's a supernatural delight
Everybody's dancing in the moonlight
Everybody here is out of sight
They don't bark and they don't bite
They keep things loose, they keep it tight
Everybody's dancing in the moonlight
Dancing in the moonlight
Everybody's feeling warm and bright
It's such a fine and natural sight
Everybody's dancing in the moonlight
We like our fun and we never fight
You can't dance and stay uptight
It's a supernatural delight
Everybody was dancing in the moonlight
Dancing in the moonlight
Everybody's feeling warm and bright
It's such a fine and natural sight
Everybody's dancing in the moonlight
We get it on most every night
And when that moon is big and bright
It's a supernatural delight
Everybody's dancing in the moonlight
Dancing in the moonlight
Everybody's feeling warm and bright
It's such a fine and natural sight
Everybody's dancing in the moonlight
@not so fast.....
....just making sure the adrenaline is still flowin'.....
Take time to grieve, but don't let life pass you by while you do.....
You will never get it back.....
Just yesterday morning, they let me know you were gone.
Suzanne, the plans they made put an end to you.
I walked out this morning and I wrote down this song,
I just can't remember who to send it to.
I've seen fire and I've seen rain. I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end.
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend, but I always thought that I'd see you again.
Won't you look down upon me, Jesus, You've got to help me make a stand.
You've just got to see me through another day.
My body's aching and my time is at hand and I won't make it any other way.
Oh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain. I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end.
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend, but I always thought that I'd see you again.
Been walking my mind to an easy time, my back turned towards the sun.
Lord knows when the cold wind blows it'll turn your head around.
Well, there's hours of time on the telephone line to talk about things to come.
Sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the ground.
Oh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain. I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end.
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend,
but I always thought that I'd see you baby, one more time again, now.
Thought I'd see you one more time again.
There's just a few things coming my way this time around, now.
Thought I'd see you, thought I'd see you, fire and rain, now.
Let your tears water the gardens of your soul.....
Reduce, reuse, recycle .....
@ dagnabit
I was done crying for now... or so I thought. So much for distraction.
I can stay melancholy longer than your average person...
Picked my clothes up, grabbed my suitcase
Never looked back at the look on your face
I just took off drivin'
There's gotta be someplace I could go to
Help me forget about how much I love you
Maybe Dallas, San Antone, a two lane highway all alone
Drivin' and a-cryin', drivin' and a-cryin'
Got the radio up the petal pushed down
The night wind blowin' my tears around
Gotta get back where I used to be
But I'm racin' with your memory
Drivin' and a-cryin', drivin' and a-cryin'
Sometimes in Texas ain't nothing out there
A man could get lost headed for nowhere
That's where I'm goin' without you
At least the long nights won't desert me
If I got nobody ain't nobody gonna hurt me
Hello honey, it's been a long time
I'm out of her life and out of my mind
Drivin' and a-cryin', drivin' and a-cryin'
Got the radio up the petal pushed down
The night winds a-blowin' my tears around
Gotta get back where I used to be
But I'm racin' with your memory
Drivin' and a-cryin', drivin' and a-cryin'
Drivin' and a-cryin'
Oh
Cryin',
Cryin',
Cryin',
Cryin'...
