    Grateful Dead Hour no. 363

    Week of September 4, 1995

Continuing with the series of five programs following Jerry Garcia's death in the summer of 1995.

Two days after Jerry died, the Fillmore was opened up and Deadheads invited, by word of mouth, to come in an mourn together. I brought my portable recorder and asked people to "tell me a story." Some of the results are included here.

Hi, I am from France. I discovered the Dead 2 months after the 1990 Paris show (that was so not cool !!! ) So, in 95 I got mysef in a plane with 3 buddies to go the fisrt 3 venues of the summer tour (VT and NY). I am so glad I did that... The Highgate VT show, for someone who only heard about a Dead show but never been to one, was something ...that words can't tell. I am so happy someday some Dead tape got to my hands, so happy someday I ve seen them play, so happy I met you deadhead folks....Be sure, we are everywhere !!! Thanks a lot David for posting all those gdh. You sure help us, overseas, keepin' in touch with the musical flow that gets to our souls...I ll always b grateful !! Peace!

There is a petition to place Chet Helms of the Family Dog in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. There are 13 days left to gardner the number of signatures (5000). At this point the petition is sitting on 2035 signatures. Come on folks we can't forget the man who was responsible for bringing to the forefront the very music we crave. http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/891211103?ltl=1129687176
