    Grateful Dead Hour no. 362

    Week of August 28, 1995

Continuing with the series of five programs following Jerry Garcia's death in the summer of 1995.

This show is a collection of favorite musical moments. Impossible to cover all of Jerry's musical facets in an hour, of course.

I played "Louis Collins" on the night Jerry died, because I thought it was one of the sweetest and best-recorded Jerry vocals ever. It's a bonus track on on a sampler CD from David Grisman's Acoustic Disc label. Another version of this song from the same session was released in 2000 on The Pizza Tapes.

The 9/29/89 revival of "Death Don't Have No Mercy" was an electrifying moment, and the last truly mind-blowing Jerry guitar solo I recall witnessing personally. It was later included in the boxed set So Many Roads (1965-1995)

This wonderful 10/19/74 "Eyes of the World" also wound up on So Many Roads. It is heard in the Grateful Dead Movie, and I highly recommend the new multitrack mix of the song that appears on the Grateful Dead Movie Soundtrack, released in 2004.

    interesting stuff!
I have never heard that Attics before. Interesting to hear Keith on keys and Donnas vocals in there. Good stuff. Jerry has a sweet lead in it too that seems a little longer than most.I always did love that Believe It or Not. Does God look down on the boys in the barroom Mainly forsaken but surely not judged? Jacks, kings, and aces, their faces in wine Do Lord deliver our kind
