And how bout Oct 2 at the Aladdin Theatre?
The day after the Oct 2nd show at the Aladdin here in Portland, OR, I looked for a place to comment but to my disappointment the tour wasn't yet posted! Looks like they didn't play catchup in listing previous shows, so I'm not sure how many preceded Oct 8th, but in any event......
This is not to be missed. Four masters representing four continents.....and loving every minute of it. We were against the stage, so it was great to be able to see the communication, every player egging on every other at some point or another to take a solo, and smiles galore. And which, at times, tiny percussion toys were being employed, often for a moment or two only but utilized at a perfect moment. And the speed of Zakir Hussain's fingertips. Whatever opened the second set (with Higaldo on the box drum) was, I think, my favorite drum jam of all time.
As for the encore, when Mickey & Zakir sat at some wooden vibes right at the end of the stage......well, Mickey, that was my face right in front of yours. Not that your eyes were open much, it was obviously a meditation going on. I thought the rectangular cell-phone lights temporarily tattooing your faces as fans snapped pictures were a little rude, but you guys didn't even seem to notice.....the focus was incredible. And joyful.
Me and my brother are SO glad we saw this. I'll be there again if you guys come back this way, I'd love to enjoy more......much more.
Thanks for coming to MN!
The show was great! I went with my husband. He's the drummer and I'm the Deadhead. We both had a great time. "Music gives our souls a sound,"

Hey Mickey, man, Louisville isn't that bad!
Honest, it sucks but it doesn't really really suck. There are worse places. You could play here, and you would be the best thing that happened in years. Seriously, play the Palace (trippy venue, just ask Phil), play that cool little theater in the KY Center for the Arts (ok, 600 seats is kinda "intimate"), there's bound to be a good venue. How big do you need?
C'mon, do a brother a favor. I'd really appreciate it.
Lovin' the album, too, clear a spot in the barn for another Grammy.
(God Louisville sucks)

Come to the East
How come this tour stops at illinois? You guys do three concerts in california?! Why cant you just schedule a couple out here in the East? I live in Knoxville and Thompson Bolling arena holds plenty for a concert. I've heard great things about this tour and I really wanted to go but I didn't want to fly somewhere just for a concert.
I'm really dissapointed. :(
