    Grateful Dead Hour no. 262

    Week of September 27, 1993

By request, a show featuring The Indigo Girls, who opened for the Grateful Dead at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon August 21 and 22, 1993.

These two GD shows were broadcast live on KLCC in Eugene. I was invited up as part of the broadcast team, headed by GD sound engineer Dan Healy and his pal Jack Ellis. We collaborated with the KLCC staff, including Deb Trist, who still hosts "Dead Air" on KLCC Saturday nights 7-9pm. KLCC news director Tripp Sommer interviews the Indigo Girls in this program, which opens with my interview with my good friend Mary Buffington, a big fan of both the Dead and the Indigo Girls who was in attendance at the stadium.

BTW, the previous week's GD Hour, program number 261, posted a while back, includes a bit of radio drama we produced for the broadcast, titled "Oregon Trail Mix."

    Enjoy!
