Grateful Dead

I saw set 2 only beginning with Playing in the Band. Not sure how I ended up entering at that point. In Kansas City in the early '70s The Dead only came around once and we were all starstruck and unfamiliar with the culture surrounding their performances. Thankfully Owsley recorded Dark Star>Philo Stomp>Morning Dew. The rest of the show is available on archive.org but not with the same quality. This being the only Dead show I ever made it to due to a number of circumstances, I'm very sentimental about it. I don't think of it as a benchmark '72 performance, it's not. But hearing it and remembering I was there is electrifying. For me it's more like looking through a pair of Garcia glasses that magnifies their other performances and keeps me enveloped in their sound. I love the Dead now more than ever!!

Sweet, sweet Dead.... A classic 72 set, had all the elements of a great show and the vocals were killer, Garcia was pulling the strings every which way on the strat....A monster Playing jam, Dark Star, oh I could go on and one. My first and certainly one of the best Dead shows I ever saw. Would love to track down a high quality tape of this one, I recorded a crappy version on my "portable" (as in 15 pound) Krako 8 track recorder.
