Well I'm Stealin back to that same old used to be! 1st time viewing of video from 12/30/77. Aside from Mickey jamming with the Dead 10/20/74, these two (29,30) Dead shows were the only times I saw the band in that formation. Both nights were so stellar .Today 12/30, it's 40 years since dancing in the hallowed halls of Winterland. Forty Years, 40 forty! You fockin A! 40 years

The band was dealin' in 1977, without question my favorite Grateful Dead year. I attended five shows, not too bad for a non-traveling hometown Deadhead with a full-time job, and all of them were great. Now, my memory of this show is marred somewhat by remembering my surly attitude at being shut out of the New Year's gig-- I may have been a Deadhead, but I was not a particularly mature Deadhead. This one also improves on hearing years later, though I never did warm up to Weir's version of "Good Lovin'", sacrilege though that may be to some of you. Still, four stars, because 1977 was a four-star year!
