Went every night.
Flew in from Cali with the Golden Dolphins. I was going to go to Rochester first for business and then hang around for the shows. Things went great and we were on top of the world. When the tickets went on sale (many months earlier) you were given a number and camped out on the streets of Manhattan for two days. They would check every something hours and as long as you were there for the check your spot was guaranteed. There was a six ticket limit so we were all working hard to cover all the shows. I had a pretty low number and got to the windows and grabbed some amazing seats. As I stepped back from the first window to look at my tickets the guy at the second window calls next and I walk right up and get another set of six. Every ticket was 15th row or better and one night we sat front row!

zordan
man radio city was incrediable the line for tickets the shows and all the extra fun we can't talk about. Yes there was a six ticket limit but since i had a girlfriend who was not on line i only got tickets for 4 shows. i went to 7 shows as i figured out or -just got lucky- that right before the shows started they would put some tickets on sale that they were holding for whomever. So i got in 3 more show along with some of my friends. I was in the first 10-15 rows everynight too.
Miracle?
Went to the City alone without a ticket hoping to be able to buy one on the street. I walked around for over 2 hours looking for anyone selling, but to no avail, refusing to do that douchey "I Need A Miracle" finger-in-the-air pose. 5 minutes to show time and I had given up, sitting on the curb right in front of the theatre, when a car comes screeching up to the curb. I thought it was going to run my feet over, so I rolled onto the sidewalk. A guy jumps out of the passenger side and proclaims "I have a ticket. Who wants it for 30 bucks?" From the ground I say that I'll take it. Some guy standing over me then said he'd give him 40 bucks, but the car guy said to him "Sorry, this guy called it first". I handed over the dough, thanked the guy profusely and ran inside, thinking the show had started. The Dead came out A LOT later than the 8:00 start time, so I hadn't missed a thing. The seat was up in the balcony, but by the end of the show I was down stairs loving life. Miracle, indeed.
My First
This was my first show and I had just started listening to the band. I loved it but in retrospect I didn't realize just how special these shows were. My friend's parents drove us to the show from Central Jersey and we met them afterwards at their black tie event at the Waldorf Astoria...pretty funny! Their son had gotten sick from too much Jack Daniels and I'm sure we all looked and smelled quite funky. The music, the dancing, the people, the venue....it was a great introduction to the band.
Gotta love Momma
I was attending a very strict boarding school in Kent Ct. and my mother knew I was miserable - she heard the Dead were playing Radio City and offered to help get tickets since I couldn't get off campus. She waited in line, freaking out mind you on the heads like the lady breast feeding her baby in public (ohmygosh ;-) She got to the window finally and all the shows were sold out... but... but... wait a second... a couple more shows have been added while she was at the window! She ended up getting me first row on the floor then when show time came she helped kidnap me from school, got me to the train on time and... well.. you can guess the rest. Awesome show though I had to miss the last song and encore to make it back to the train in order to get to school on time before names were checked in at breakfast.
All good things in all good time!

First Row Score
My girlfriend's dad scored first row tickets for us. Cost a pretty penny for a high school kid and my parents were pissed when they found out how much, but there are priorities. I just remember the beautiful sound of the acoustic set and them being right there in front of me. Too much. Electric set was chaos up front, but all good. We had such a good time. Ahh, the memories. Every time I go to Radio City, it seems like a dream, but it did happen.
1st night of fun
Cant believe its been 35 years!! I remember it like yesterday. Great sound and yes the 1st night the equipment got in late from N.O. A great run of a week and the party ended in the Capitol theater sat night Nov. 1 with Bobby Weir band. Funny thing I went 7 night to Radio City, and paid $12.50/ticket I am going sat night 10/31/15 to see Dead & Co and payed $93.00/ticket so I saw the DEAD for 7 night @ $87.50. Crazy times.
