    Vince Welnick brought a delightful pop sensibility to the Grateful Dead. He was instrumental in the return of "Here Comes Sunshine" to the Dead's repertoire, but he was unable to persuade the Dead to bring back "The Golden Road (To Unlimited Devotion)," the band's very first single (which they wrote and recorded after completing principal recording of their first album because executives at Warner Bros. Records didn't "hear a single").

    Not sure if it was official, but the Fukuoka band was rumored to have been called "Special K and the Cereal Killers." A band with almost the same lineup performed 2/14/95 at the Fillmore under the name The Valentines. I'll get that show posted here soon.

    Thank Gans . Welnick was an intelligent musician . Of those , remain very few .... Happy December to you .... Jaime G Arica , Chile POSTSCRIPT. Try and find a version of Sad suite , by MMF . That song and emperor´s suite were BIG and Great songs .... That stuff is dearly missed . Kudos for your unearthing a show from 1996 , that had Vinnie's project MMF as the main subject matter ....
