    Grateful Dead Hour No. 1685

    Grateful Dead Hour no. 1685

    Week of January 4, 2021

Last of four presenting the complete concert of 9/29/89 at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California.

This set includes the first performance of "Death Don't Have No Mercy" since March of 1970. I was at this show, and a happy participant in a very warm audience response as Jerry, Bob, and Brent all took turns singing verses and Jerry played a blistering guitar solo to boot.

Also: a salute to the legendary acoustic guitarist Tony Rice, who passed away on Christmas Day of 2020. David Grisman worked extensively with Jerry Garcia and with Tony Rice, and the recordings of their two-day jam session at Grisman's studio are a joy to hear. The 2000 CD was recently reissued as a high-res download, with additional material, as The Pizza Tapes Extra Large Edition.

    Enjoy!
