Week of April 24-30, 2023
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we wrap up our April installments with Grateful Dead music from 1971, 1982, and 1989.
Our first stop this week is from the time the Dead visited Bear in prison, at Terminal Island Correction Facility in San Pedro, CA, on 8/4/71 and played a full show for their friend, soundman, and early benefactor. From the end of the show we have Not Fade Away > Goin' Down The Road Feeling Bad > Turn On Your Lovelight.
Next is the first set from 8/6/82 in St. Paul, MN, where we have Bertha > New Minglewood Blues ; Candyman > Little Red Rooster ; Bird Song > El Paso ; Tennessee Jed ; It's All Over Now ; Lazy Lightning > Supplication ; Might As Well.
Next is the start of the first set from 8/4/89 at Cal Expo in Sacramento, opening night of a three night run, featuring Bertha ; Greatest Story Ever Told ; Althea ; Mama Tried>Mexicali Blues ; Never Trust A Woman.
Thanks for stopping by, and we look forward to seeing you next week.
