Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1977, 1984, and 1989.
Our first stop this week is on the final night of the Fall Tour of 1977, on 5/28/77 in Hartford, where we have Estimated Prophet>Playing In The Band>Terrapin Station> Not Fade Away>Wharf Rat>Playing In The Band. This show was released in 2009 as To Terrapin, the complete show on 3 CDs.
Next up is the entire first set from the excellent 7/21/84 in Ventura, CA, where we have Shakedown Street; Little Red Rooster; Althea; Me And My Uncle > Mexicali Blues; China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider ; Looks Like Rain ; Might As Well.
Lastly this week is the start of the second set from the opening of the Dead’s 1989 New Year’s run on 12/27/89 in Oakland, where we have Iko Iko; Playing In The Band > Crazy Fingers> Uncle John's Band, including the opening number with the Big Man himself.
