Week of December 11-17, 2023
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from the 1990s, from 1990, 1991, and 1993.
Our first selection is from 3/14/90 at the Capital Center in Landover, MD, where we have the start of the second set. This show is terrific, the opening of the Spring Tour of 1990, and started a run that would be great until the end of the tour: Crazy Fingers>Playing In The Band>Uncle John's Band.
Next up is another great tour-opening show, also in Landover, where we have the start of the second set, featuring China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider ; Man Smart (Woman Smarter) ; Crazy Fingers>Truckin'>New Speedway Boogie. The Dead had just brought New Speedway Boogie after a 17 year hiatus the previous month in Oakland.
Next is the end of the first set from 3/11/93 in Rosemont, IL, where we have Althea ; When I Paint My Masterpiece ; So Many Roads > The Music Never Stopped.
Be sure to stop by next week for more music from the vault.
