First of a two-parter, requested by Andy Muenz.
I had an opportunity to restore and digitize WMBR's original master monaural recording of the Dead's free performance at MIT on May 6, 1970, two days after the National Guard killed four protestors at Kent State University in Ohio. The tape was provided by Eli Polonsky, host of WMBR's "Lost and Found" (Tuesdays noon to 2pm on WMBR 88.1 in Cambridge , Massachusetts) who appears in the program to give some background on the free concert and the recording.
