    Wrong sort of memories...
Not a great show, not a terrible show, music-wise (although it took the band some time to get things going smoothly). Unfortunately, what I remember most about it was my fiancée's experience. She is highly susceptible to heat, and it was hotter than hell inside the LB Arena (which has never been a great venue for concerts). She was feeling ill from the heat and headed off to the restroom shortly into the first set, and I didn't see her again for over an hour. When she came back, she was very unhappy and wouldn't talk to me about it until we got home. Turns out that she was sitting on the toilet in one of the stalls and she sees a foot come sliding out from under the partition next to her. When there was no response to her shouts of "Are you OK?" and to her nudging the girl's foot with her own foot, she quickly got up, looked under the partition, and saw a girl passed out. She then pulls the girl out from under the stall door, sees that her face is covered with puke, and starts yelling to the other girls in line to go out and get a cop. She had current First Aid and CPR certificates, so she starts trying to revive the girl after the fun task of using a finger to clear vomit out of her mouth and airway. While she is doing CPR, she gets forcibly lifted off the girl by a cop, who slams her against the wall and shouts, "WHAT'S SHE ON?" and refuses to believe that the girl on the floor was a total stranger. Paramedics show up almost immediately after the cop, tear open the girl's blouse and find that she's about 12 years old with a borrowed ID and half a pound of tissue paper stuffing a too-large bra. Now the cop is even madder, accusing my fiancée of supplying drugs to a child, and it takes a few minutes for some of the other women in line to get the message through to him that the two of them were not together when they entered the restroom. One of the paramedics checked my fiancée over because she was a bit dazed, and had her sit down for awhile when he felt a nice big goose egg bump on the back of her head from when the cop tried to force information out of her about the kid on the floor. Needless to say, my fiancée (now my wife for almost 27 years) HATED this concert, the only time she ever saw the Grateful Dead live. This was also my last show--I managed to score a pair of GREAT tickets to one of the 1987 Irvine concerts on the day of the show, but the parking lot for the venue was full to bursting and the Irvine PD was turning away all vehicles and threatening to have every car that parked along the roadside towed and impounded (at the time, I was driving a company car, so I couldn't risk it, and had to do some serious complaining to the venue management to get my ticket money refunded--which they did, in full, along with a certificate good for 2 comp tix for any other show there that season, which we used for a Deep Purple concert).
