The Incredible Hult
was in town without a ticket after planting trees for a while and was able to score a 7th row seat in this tiny, plush theater. remember the paper saying how worried they were that the very fine seats might be damaged by deadheads, "but nobody seemed to sit in them". Loved the lady at her first show who was impressed with how "professional" the band was.
I remember
Russ, there with Willie, Zig, and my sweet wife Janet. Music was permiating, 3rd night of the triple header. Phenominal experiance in a superior concert hall. I remember the drums most and the solo on chimes. Things like that, only once.
what I mostly remember
aside from the fabulousness of the venue--the Fox in Oakland is the only place I can think of nearly as nice--was the pretty scary way the balcony took to bouncing with everybody dancing. I forget what song it was that brought this on, but it was either the first or second night.
the other thing I loved was that Heads had pretty much taken over the Hilton, and Dennis Sims, who used to vend photos as I recall, spent a lot of time playing the grand piano in the lobby. Quite well too.
