    ElMonte 1970

I and my fellow deadheads were there but I don't recall the date, perhaps the 28th. We all piled into my parents red veedubya bus and plastered an "ElMonte or Bust banner on the side. It was one of the best Dead concerts I ever went to. Saw the band or at least someone said it was the band......crossing the parking lot towards the back of the building with some provisions from the local liquor market And I do remember the venue had to turn off the power to get everyone to leave after the last set.

Great show after Christmas and before New Years. A very cold night and a small crowd huddled together for warmth and fireplaces on the side of the hall fired up as well. Magical night. Also my friend Mark coined the term Deadhead that night while standing in line. Someone was joking "the only good freak is a dead freak" alluding to the prejudice hippies faced in the "Easy Rider" time in America. My friend retorted " The only good head is a Deadhead" very prophetic
