Grateful Dead

Quite the lackluster run - offset by the killer JGB shows at the Warfield immediately following. Carlos Santana jammed with the band from Space to the end of the show - nice treat.

For the previous seven shows I was stuck out in the parking lot[not that Oakland's Shakedown during this run of shows didn't rule] even though I worked a sign and tried to barter for tix I got shut out repeatedly. Finally I made a sign saying something like"I need a mircale, been shut out seven in a row will give the shirt off my back and anything else I have that you want for a ticket to tonights show"[I actaully listed a bunch of my possesions to sweeten the pot and show I was serious],I started with this sign at the Oakland Taco Bell at 10am,I worked it all day[actaully managed to get some money and herb together for the ticket]then around 7pm[show was about to start]I gave up and threw my sign down and two seconds later I hear a woman behind me say "I wanna give my ticket to this guy", I turned around to see and she handed me the ticket [said something like she saw me trying to get in all week and all that day]I can't explain how I felt,although I did give her and her freind the biggest hugs and thanks ever[she wouldn't accept anyhting for ticket said to keep what I had and enjoy the show],so I proceeded to run into the show,"never had such a goodtime"...."All good things in all good time"-JGB

Started of the day by going to the NewYear parade in Oakland and I do remember WaneNseattle...We chatted and tried to figure it all out for you inbetween inhaling...lol...I think that was near the Denny's or Best Western?? So good to hear you got in man!!! Another end to a nice run with Carlos sitting in. I went into the isle halfway up so I could watch and feel the dragon come by. That was a treat. I
