    My last set of shows
A hot three day weekend with the Dead at Sam Boyd. This was probably the weakest show I saw over the years. Jerry was tired and lackluster, forgetting the lyrics. Finally got going on Deal. A heartfelt Standing on the Moon saved the night. Lucy was a fun suprise.

    my last trip out west
I flew out from NY by myself, and spent two days in vegas "alone." Dangerous place to be by yourself. My second night there, Iran into Eddie Vedder at the San Remo hotel - cool as hell. At the shows: my frinds rolled in in their bus and it was off to the shows. I remember it being like 110 degrees and I had an outerbody experience from dehydration. I remember thinking that I had seen 100 or so great shows, and that this was the end of the line for me, hard to believe it really was the end of the line. Not the greatest shows in LV< but a great time nonetheless.

    A lovely view of Heaven
I will never forget Standing on the moon. My buddy (who had been seeing dead shows since the 60's) and I were sweating bullets it was so hot, and we were both living in Phoenix at the time! At the end when Jerry sings "...a lovely view of Heaven but I'd rather be with you" he put energy into it, really belting out "I'd rather be with you..." It was fantastic, especially for my buddy, who had watched Jerry decline over the years at dozens of shows. Almost 3 months later when I heard Jerry had passed away, that was the first thing that I thought of, and it still makes me tear up to this day. Miss you Jerry!

remember its like 430 or something and this guy is like, "that PA system is playing dead. I said, dude, thats Picasso Moon, they are on stage.......Run for the roses ensued!!!!!! Very average show but lots of fun with the fans around us. And the marshmellow fights rocked. Cheers! JG “The Omnipotent Grateful Dead!”

My most vivid memory of this show was the Around and Around... the band had starts and stops all night, and this closer was rocky... Then they broke it all the way down midway through the tune and proceeded to build an absolute fireball to close the show... warming up for the run with Chuck Berry no doubt. One of my last great memories of the good ol' Grateful Dead!

Drove straight from Boulder all night to arrive in the parking lot for another many sleepless hours of good times! Man, I remember the HEAT in Vegas...Hotter than hell but the boys played well considering the heat. Video taped the parking lot scene..gotta find that. Don't remember much that first night...hee hee....I remember standing stage left dancing my butt off...or maybe I was sleep-dancing????

TucsonJohnI had a great year, and to top it off, I took all my salesmen to Vegas for the shows. I ordered a limo to take us to the ATL airport, flew all 6 of to Vegas, put us all up in the Hilton, and partied all week. When it came to the first show, I went straight to the front of the stage with one of the boys, stood right in front of Jerry, and said "Hows this for your first show?" Jer looked down, over the top of his shades, smiled big, and rip off a qick tuning note to let the youing man know he was in the shadow of "Grateness". And so the rest of the week went equally well for us. Everyone went home winners, as the casinos were really loose, and then Dave Matthews played a show in uptown ATL and we went and hung out with him before the show. It was quite the summer, to be sure. And the deal making at Vegas was sick!!! Fare thee well, my honey, fare thee well, my only true one.....

It was so hot for these shows. I remember the hoses spraying water over the crowed and Dave Matthews for the first time. Good show.
