Terrapin
Wow... this night was one of those last minute decisions to give the band another chance, and it was rocky... Garcia was loose on lyrics... notoriously at this point. I'll never forget the build up in Terrapin when the whole crowd belts out "Inspiration!!" and there was no Garcia!!... some said it was becaus his intercom was clicked so he could speak to the board and the band, but that gut wrenching drop took me a long time to recover from. Nevertheless, a great time reconnecting with all the old friends and faces from the band!
Glitzy With No Substance
I'm not sure who produced this show, but it didn't feel like the same Grateful Dead that I'd come to know and love. I hadn't seen a Dead concert for a while, so when I saw them at this concert it shocked me how much they'd changed - and I wasn't very pleased about it. This was the last concert I saw them.
Last time
This was the last time I saw the boys. I drove down from a X-mas tree cutting gig in Minnesota with just me and my dog, caught a miracle in front of the steps when the gifter was sure I had a place for my dog during the show (whole van, food and water! ) I remember I was so excited about the end of the second set- they did M&MU into Big River and it sounded like the old school tapes I had, and plus the St Paul MN thing where I had just seen a rather goofy Phish show on the way out.
