David Murray/James Cotton
This show was great. Had to put a comment in just to mention the guest appearances. David Murray came out for Bird Song & played the rest of the show (almost the exact same way it worked w/ Branford Marsalis @ Nassau). Didn't know who he was, found out later that he was a jazz musician friend of Phil's(no surprise there). James Cotton came out for Lovelight & blew me away because I immediately recognized the legendary harmonica player for - among many others - the great Muddy Waters!!!! May be the best lovelight I saw. Afterward took the train from Penn station to MetroPark NJ. Forgot that the NJ troopers were notorious for watching the parking lot when the Dead were @ the Garden. My friend was driving this big green van so we were probably easy to spot. He was going to get a DWI until a food coloring bottle fell out of his girlfriends bra. Troopers wouldn't let him take the blame (it was his), & took her away. Her lawyer got her PTI & probation & told my friend that if it had been him he probably would have gotten at least 5 yrs. Anyway I'm rambling now & w/ the exception of what happened this show was a great experience I'll always treasure.

Great show...and a great night in the city!!!
saxophonist Ornette Coleman
Does anyone know which shows Ornette sat in with the Grateful Dead?In Bill Kreutzmann's memoir (2o15) he says Ornette sat in with them twice
during 1993 (page 295) and I'd sure like to hear that (!)
