An overcast day at American University
The sun managed to appear through a tiny hole in the clouds and lit up the sky just as the band began China Cat Sunflower ... magical.
Not as powerful a show as the one a few weeks earlier at the Baltimore Civic Center, but very enjoyable.
The show was free of charge and was not announced until 24-48 hours before showtime.
Between sets a stripper gave an impromptu performance on stage, during which she balanced cigarettes on her nipples.

My First Show
I had just started grad school at American University (the location of the "soccer field"). Brought a six month old lab, my wife and a friend. Just to left of the soundboard and tapers. The dog got super stoned just from the ambient atmosphere and forever after demanded only good bud. PETA members - sorry, but the dog knew what he wanted.
Lost & found
Recently found a roll of color slides shot at this show. When I get them digitized will post a couple of the band on this site. Pictures were taken from pretty far back in the crowd, but at least I was there! Used a Canon FT 35 mm and Kodachrome.
