What a trip
A few months earlier, i had missed the chance to go to the Monterey Pop Festival because of my job at Jumbo Jim's, a sandwich shop on Western Ave. near Griffith Park's entrance. When I heard that the Airplane was playing at a "love-In" in the park, i called in sick and beat it on over there. The generator was loud and stinky, and i bought some acid that was more speed than anything else. Everyone seemed to be digging the music, but i had real bad head trouble and i couldn't get into it. If only i had known how well the Dead could take away your bad trip if you just let them! I didn't know what to do, and i only lived a few miles away, at Hollywood & Western, so i opted for the security of my bedroom, and i ran. On the way there, behind the Pioneer Chicken stand, i got busted for relieving myself in public. I had lost my wallet with all my money during the bad trip, and i wound up spending a week in Old County Jail. When i got out, i had been evicted from my apartment and fired from my job. At the time, i didn't even realize that i had just been to my first Dead Show. All-in-all, i'd have to say that the experience was a positive one! What a long strange trip i had started! What a wonderful trip it's been!
