    "SAVING EYEBALLS" KINGSWOOD '84
THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS WE WENT TO. YOU BOUGHT A CIRCLE OF GOLD TICKET FOR $30 U.S. DOLLARS,GOT GREAT SEATS & WERE ABLE TO ATTEND A BUFFET DINNER AFTER THE SHOW & MEET THE BAND MEMBERS! THE VENUE WAS RIGHT IN CANADA'S WONDERLAND(SMALL DISNEYLAND) THAT WAS OVERRUN W/DEADHEAD's! I CAN REMEMBER SITTING DOWN EATING & THIS GUY WITH HIS SIGNATURE HAT WALKING BY. IT WAS WAVY GRAVY OUT OF COSTUME! WE TALKED TO HIM FOR AWHILE 'CAUSE HE NEEDED TO GET READY. WE DID THE RIDES AND THEN GOT READY TO SEE "THE BAND" WHO OPENED FOR THE DEAD. BOTH SHOWS WERE EXCELLENT.WHEN THE SHOW WAS OVER WE HAD TO GO OVER TO THE PLACE WHERE THE BUFFET WAS BEING SERVED & TO MEET THE BAND MEMBERS. AS WE GOT THERE BOB WEIR WAS COMING IN W/A NICE LOOKING BLONDE W/HIM. I SHOOK HIS HAND, TOLD HIM IT WAS A GREAT SHOW & HE THANKED ME. THEN I ASKED HIM WHERE JERRY WAS & HE SAID "THAT HE WAS TIRED & WENT BACK TO THE HOTEL" JERRY, BRENT, & PHIL DID NOT SHOW TO THE BANQUET. I REALLY WANTED TO MEET JERRY. TOWARDS THE END OF THE BANQUET WE WERE HANGING OUT WITH A FEW OTHER DEAD HEADS,BILL & KEN KESSEY. HE WAS A VERY INTERESTING GUY. HE WAS TELLING STORIES ABOUT THE GOOD OLE DAYS! THE 2 OTHER HEADS LIT UP A COUPLE OF FAT ONES. AT THAT POINT BILL WAS ALREADY PRETTY WASTED & HE TOOK BOTH AND WAS SMOKING BOTH AT ONCE! WE JUST HUNG OUT,TALKED & LISTENED TO RICK DANKO(MET HIM, BUT CAN'T REMEMBER ANYONE ELSE FROM THE BAND)& IF ALL OF MY BRAIN CELLS ARE STILL FIRING I THINK HE WAS PLAYING W/BONNIE RAITT. THEY PLAYED THROUGH MOST OF THE AFFAIR. A LITTLE WHILE LATER WHILE STILL HANGING OUT WITH BILL, WAVY GRAVY GOT ON THE MIC & SAID "IT'S TIME TO LEAVE NOW. EVERY MINUTE WE STAY IS COSTING US 5 EYEBALLS". ALL OF A SUDDEN BILL K. YELLS AT THE TOP OF HIS LUNGS "F _ _ K THOSE BLIND LITTLE INDIANS! EVERYONE TURNED AND LOOKED AT HIM IN AWE! HE WAS JUST SO WASTED! THAT'S SOMETHING I'LL NEVER FORGET AND THE ONLY 1 THING I WAS REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO WAS MEET JERRY, BUT THAT'S OK. I GOT TO MEET 3 OUT OF THE 4 CORE!

    re: missing shows?
Indeed, they played those back-to-back in 1986. I remember the Akron Bowl show well noting Dylan opened for the Dead and the Dead backed him up on "Don't Think Twice It's Alright."

What a killer venue (at an amusement park) with a very killer show. Never forget the sunset during Scarlet-Fire-Estimated...Bobby sang " my work fills the sky with flames" followed by "check it out" during Estimated.

as I remember, the boys played at Riverbend Music Theatre, and the Akron Rubber Bowl with Dylan and Tom Petty...is my memory that faded? I would love to know...
