Venue

  • Rich Stadium

The stadium opened in 1973.  In 1972, Rich Products signed a 25-year deal for $1 million per year, by which the venue would be called Rich Stadium. After the original deal expired in 1998 (Rich chose not to renew at a much higher rate), the stadium was renamed in honor of Bills founder and owner Ralph C. Wilson.

This is the show that ultimately became the Truckin' Off To Buffalo show which was released a year or two ago. I went with my girl friend at the time, her name was Tracy. (If your out there Tracy, Hello) The most vivid memories of this show for me was when it started raining during Morning Dew. It was really light misty rain and was a releif from the humidity. I remember thinking it was part of the show and that somehow they planned it. I remember thinking how cool it was that they could do that. A couple shows later in DC they did it again during Looks Like Rain. That was a complete downpour. This was morning dew dripping our of the air.

Oh how a HIGH TIME is so SWEET! That was just one event of this tour that I loved and hated at the same time! The next morning San Fran guy and the tourmate wanted to check out the falls so we took a detour on our way to Deer Creek. Broke down outside of Buffalo, nice 70's era deadhead picked us up, fed us, let us do laundry, stay in her house and dropped us off at the airport the following morning ( the vw bus was not going to be fixed for 2 weeks) tourmate paid for tickets to Indiana, I hooked us up with a ride once we got there. Lots of generosity out there! To bad Brent wasn't seeing it......

That was great, but my best show here was in '82. I had seen my first Dead show at The Carrier Dome in Syracuse on a Friday and then hitchhiked (via Canada, police, strippers and hanging onto the back of trollies at 3 am) to Rich Stadium to see The Clash and The Who (along with David Johansson) on Sunday. A weekend full of danger, drugs, adventure and great music.

yes C.S.N. put on an great show.but the dead came out very hot just as the days on tour were. we drove up from scranton PA to foxboro over to rich sadium. an other places. it was one of the hottest summer & so dry on smoke. the dead came out and what a set list. it was one of brents last shows & you know when one of the band is going for it, they all go for it. and this was one of those days. if anybody was waching for at lest a year. it looked like jerry was handing the reins over to brent. my friends talked about it and thought the same thing;. after seeing over 100 shows and my friend fowell them all over the U.S and seeing many more showes then i ever thought of thought the same thing then after such one of the best shows ever played & the wild set list. IT was one show i will never forget.
