pdf of Deadbase 50 and personal hard drive with all circulating sbd. If only auds. circulate then Deadlists is an excellent resource.

    File properties locked down

The file properties are locked down and can't be updated. Without being able to input an album title, song title and an Artist name, for the first time in 15 years I won't be able to add them to my music library.

    locked down file properties ...

I had the same issue with being able to edit properties - and had noticed the first three days I downloaded were .wav files... But I just came by to download yesterday's song and realized that now they're all showing as .mp3 files, so they're compressed - but you can edit properties.

Might be best to copy it from the email right now.

It is just me or are none of the track links on the archive working any longer? I click on a track but nothing happens. Tried 2 different browsers. 30 Days is going to be impossible without this working.

Click on the we amp player button (that looks like the old winamp mp3 player of past decades). The default browser player doesn't work now, but this one does.

Thanks Jack o Roses - I thought it was my browser and/or software but clearly the player glitch is on the Archive (a result of the hack?).
Anyway, so good to have this wonderfully beautiful start to sooth our souls in this time of discord.
Sad that Phil has gone to the Great Wheel in the Sky, but looking forward to hearing a lot of his unique stylings over the next month; as Dia de los Muertos teaches us, no one is truly gone as long as we still remember them. Live on Phil!

People noticed this a couple weeks ago. This should even things up a bit for those of us who don't generally use the archive to validate our guesses. Good luck!
Cheers

or at least a symptom of a confusing user interface.
Maybe it would help to have a clickable button to go to submission page.
Similar to the download MP3 button, and preferably placed next to it.

Especially considering that once you are already in the comments the submission form that is usually at the bottom of the main page goes away.
I had to go back to the home page and start over to submit mine this morning.

What a nice surprise in my inbox this morning reminding me that 30 Days of Dead has begun again! I thought about it a couple weeks ago but promptly forgot.

Not too many options today so a nice start.

So happy that both setlist.com and archive.org are back up just in time too!

Good luck and enjoy everyone!

Dear Mary, or anyone behind the scenes — fyi, my download file is 64kb and others have mentioned low bit files. It'd be great to see the usual 320kb on the rest if possible, and hopefully re-post this one at 320kb. NOT complaining—I'm very grateful!! Just letting you know.

Welcome all newcomers! But please don’t post your guess in the Comments section! First of all, that will not enter you in the contest. And 2nd, it’s just not the way the game's played.

The fun of this wild treasure hunt is to sleuth out your best guess. Sometimes Commenters give some pretty fun & clever & veiled hints as to what the answer might be. That’s part of the fun! But we never post our guesses here in the Comments.

Also, putting your answer in Comments doesn't enter you into the contest. The ONLY way you can enter your guess is to find the drop down menu for "Show," and the drop down menu for "Show Date." AND be sure to click on 'Submit My Entry' after you make your choices. It can be a bit glitchy to find the spot to enter, but once on the the main 30 DoD page—the one with the artwork on top—it should show the song title for that day. You may need to scroll down below the Comments to find the entry option. I can’t say for sure cuz I already entered today and once you make your entry, that info disappears and it says “THANKS FOR ENTERING TODAY!”
Just poke around & you’ll find it!! Have fun!

Hello and welcome back to all the 'usual suspects' for this wonderful month of music and friendly competition! Looking foward to the banter with others on the comments and this month this year should prove to be very interesting in so many ways.

Hey, I have a wild idea - if we can't have a simple fillout form, how about having instruction on this page about where to go, and how to enter? Suggestions to "find" a dropdown menu labeled "show" isn't enough if we don't know where to look.
Kudos to those who somehow found it :)

I am liking the relisten site for 30 Days 2024 as the archive is having some troubles this year. You can easily browse by year on relisten. But be sure to check the right margin where there are multiple listings for the same show's date. Checking another recorded version of the same show further down the list may have better song title information in the file list, a complete show rather than a partial, better sound, better pitch etc....
Have fun!

The bright blue ball has spun another 365 degrees in Space and it's so good to be Playin' In The Band with all of you again. It Wheely is!

Archive didn't want to play with me today so I hit up Relisten who was gratefully game for a little 30DOD.

Happy November everyone. I can't believe I woke up and completely didn't realize what it day it was. Turned my calendar and thought, holy shit it's 30 days again!! Happy hunting everyone.
It sort of feels like we're drifting out in the middle of space, but then it's a softball lob.

Can anyone tell me why I can't download from archive.org? Full disclosure, I'm not signed in. But I could last year. I'm trying to get a show that i stumbled on while searching which looks great, but that won't let me get it.

The internet archive was attacked on Oct. 8th, and the ordinary streaming player doesn't appear functional yet as they are bringing services back online. I could listen by switching to the webamp player and could download by going under "Download Options". I'm not logged in, either.
Or you could use relisten.net as an alternative.

Glad to be 'hear' :) The entry box is at the bottom beneath "Related Products" on the page with the 30 days of dead artwork. It showed for me initially but disappeared after I started to add a new comment. I could get it to show again by clearing the browser cache and reloading the page. I hope this helps others. Best of luck and happy listening. RIP Phil.

Hey all, so excited to be having listening parties again, so sad about Phil. Is there any chance we can make this 30 Days center around great Phil performances? I think that would be a great tribute. Love you all!

Sometimes a hint is not a hint. It's just info, not a hint......."Wheel" was on Jer's solo album, and "Playing in the Band" is from Bob's solo album "Ace", both released in 1972. Enjoy the hunt, it's lots of fun.

Well ... with Archive down, I'm flying blind like a head leaving the Mt St Helen show (and NO, that is NOT a hint!)
I think I may have found it w/ some digging and some study of the time stamps.

Here we go! I love November for this game alone.

I hope it’s just an intern mistake, because anything less than 320mp3 is a joke. Why do this and present a turd of a file?

I understand those new to this wonderful game need a bit of guidance.
If all you want to do is complain go do it somewhere else. Many of us have been a November family for 15 years. We laugh, give out subtle hints and sometimes argue over a venue name.
I have never seen the disrespect and negativity as today. Dave and crew do not have to do this at all. It is a gift. A way to search, remember shows, hear new versions, and for me get a great variety playlist to boot.
If you are new NEVER PUT AN ACTUAL GUESS IN THE COMMENTS.
if you are new ASK AND A VETERAN PLAYER WILL GUIDE YOU TO ENTER THE CONTEST, OR WHERE TO LOOK, OR HOW TO NARROW IT DOWN.
There are numerous sites to search:
relisten
grateful stats
set list program
roots of the grateful dead
deadbase
gd sets
and more.
If archive is down they are working on it, try picking up a book

The fun is in the search discovering new gems and going back in time, answers are a wide range even rehearsals, and for gods sake STOP COMPLAINIG.
Not all are available in super flac or 9000 bit rate. just sit back and have some fun.

I look forward to this every year, being tone deaf i start with dead base and then try to find an anomaly like missed words, or a strange riff, or anything then sometimes spend hours listening to versions to try and find it. Like many I have a spreadsheet. Sure we like more pig, less repeats, high quality and all but BE GRATEFUL &
JUST LISTEN TO THE RIVER SING SWEET SONGS TO ROCK MY SOUL.
god bless all, and have a good night, hope to see all back in the morning.
Wackaloon Q

Indeed, Wackaloon!! What I really love is how many shows I find along the way that I either a)didn't know before or b)had forgotten about and then remember to listen again. It's nothing if not the sheer pleasure of listening to more grateful dead. Thanks Dave and all the Gang!!

Unfortunately this is typical of our post-Covid world
The universe is out to get you but not the way you think!

First two days are horrible bitrate. <128 is the lowest bitrate possible. Not worth the bother if we can't get a decent bitrate. It was a good run though.

user picture

Member for

Every year it's the same: the first availability is a low bit rate and eventually a 320 kbps replaces it.
Why do you bother doing it that way? and really, I want these collections but not at 124 kbps. 256, maybe, if space is an issue out there.

This re-upped - this and all others going forward (I'm writing on 11/04) seem to be in 16bit / 44.1kHz .wav format. Must be something that @grootna said :-)
