chock full of clues
made for a quick find. there are some other killer highlights at this show worth a listen.
we're running out of time already. wow. wish January and February went by this fast
My birthday song!
Was wondering what would show up for my birthday today. Seeing Uncle John's Band just put a big smile on my face! One of my very faves.
Then I started listening and, HAH!, had to laugh at all the flubs with lyrics, and wrong chords, and verses. Seemed to take "God damn!" to bring them back. And then, Jerry's beautiful solo coming out of it, and the rest of the song...pretty sweet. Then they blasted out of it like no other ending I've ever heard. Thinking about it, it's kinda like my life....flubs & turns & twists, becoming quite beautiful over time, and well, not sure about the blast off part yet!
A long ago memory...I remember sitting on the floor with friends listening to this album over & over in the summer of 1970 when it 1st came out, reading every word on the album cover (remember when we used to do that!), listening so close. Then hearing it again & again on KSAN, the radio station of such a special time & place. It'd just catch my ear every time, and it's wafted thru my life ever since.
Wo-oh, what I want to know, where does the time go?
So much gratitude for the band, for all of you, for this life, for the smiles!

easy street
Saw the title and thought it would be a long haul. Took a listen and picked up a couple clues that would make it easier. Put on headphones for a second listen and picked up a clue that made it very quick. A most excellent song in a great show, have to listen to the whole thing today.
better take my advice
and look in last year's file first.
late November Dave likes to start throwing UJBs from this year and this particular slot in the show. problem is, he often times doesn't check to see what he's already thrown before.
Easy Peasy
345 performances yet today's UJB was Easy Peasy for me. One of my faves. Here's a trip: try playing it at 2x speed. It's like hearing a song you know well for the first time.
lyrics vocals
A perfect example of how apparently "the boys" (plus one grrrl) apparently had been screwing up some of the most meaningful lyrics (and easiest to remember) in the band's entire repertoire at least over 50 years ago and all the way up to the bitter end. Always hated when they messed up the lyrics to UJB. It made it sound way less meaningful. And they did it so very frequently, as if to say ahh we don't really care, and since there "ain't no time to hate", neither should you, our "damn good audience", care either since "it doesn't seem to matter", nor is it all that important for us actually learn by heart some of the most poignant lyrics ever written to one of our top five very best songs.
It's UJB ... it's apropos
"How does this song go?"
I mean, they tell you in the song that they are gonna mess it up here and there...
LOL
lyrics?
Response to "deadeyedawd",lyrics/vocals....You know,I was in the parking lot of the Keystone in Palo Alto, at a Jerry Show, and some guy said something to Jerry like that?Jerry said,"Don't take it so seriously man,I did not even write the words"......So,if you get confused, listen to the music play!!!!
Phillie!!
I cherish November for the last 13 yrs, mainly because I am given 30 new dates to explore. Where some may be recycled, all are new to me every time as my memory isn’t as spectacular as some claim on this site. This is another Phil in the mix and smacking it gem. Just as the night before as it has made its 30DoD appearance a ways back. Enjoy!!! And thanks this is some straight joy!!
yesterday's show ... 6/12/92 which guitar or Attics?
So when I heard it and tried to find it I was under the impression that maybe it sounded like he was playing Wolf for Attics.
I looked it up and can not find anything.
Does anybody know/remember what guitar Jerry played on 6/12/92 in Albany?
@August West Wh…re: Jerry's Guitar
If it wasn't Tiger, it was most likely Rosebud.
Jer's Rig
Rosebud 12/31/89 - 6/26/93
Older guitars continued to be used: Wolf appears on 7/23/90 & 2/23/93 (among others), Tiger and Wolf in the Nov. 1991 JGB run.
So you can assume Rosebud but Wolf and Tiger were not collecting dust and were used from time to time.
Edit: VooDooNola2 on YT has posted video of this entire show, it was in fact Rosebud from start to finish this night.
Is are you kind…
Yes, there were some flubs but still so wonderful to hear this version at 3 am. It is reminiscent of a similar one, one of my favorites, from a show several years later that Dick released. I synced it up so perfectly to the web version that there was not even any echo and you couldn’t tell that there were two different sources playing at the same time. Thank you Dave!
Albany 6/12/92- busted!
Got popped for a small amount of weed on the way to the previous night in Albany. Probably would have been let go without incident if a passenger in my car (howdy Ross!) hadn’t brought along a quarter-pound neatly measured out into 1/4 ounce bags in his guitar case. Of course no one else in the car was aware of this fact, but I was driving so… Missed the BERTHA and MINGLEWOOD openers that night.
Arraigned and fined ($150!) the next morning. Spent the day at the hotel pool and smoked many a doober (Ross had brought another quarter-pound with him as well. If I had known I would have kicked him out of the car in Worcester!). Great show that evening capped by that killer ATTICS.
Aah, memories….
File naming is important
This one went from pretty hard at first glance, to easier at first listen, all the way to extremely easy the second I looked at the downloaded file's name.
That being said, what a show
RE: File naming
Too soon for so strong a "hint", don't you think??
Where are you suppose to …
Where are you suppose to "lob" your guesses? Here?
Winterland 10/19/74
Kurt Franke
No, not here at all. Please delete your guess. And enter at bottom of page.
What a great version
Found it quickly thanks to what I assume to be an "unintentional" clue (and I'll just leave it at that), but I had it fairly nailed down even before I noticed that.
well.......
naming a song and including winterland sort of narrows it down. doesn't it
When you get confused
Listen to the play.
Lyrically a mess but Jer has some shinning moments on this version
Best year ever for me
Maybe it is a bit easier this year.
Hard to believe I'm better at it, lol.
Missed one and the hardest one I skipped.
Today was pretty easy too.
Had my list and went backwards and had a near match that almost fooled me. Then of course it was the first one on the list. Why is it something is always in the last place you look for it? Because you stopped looking when you found it.
Cheers
Uncle John’s Band
I heard two phrases of Jerry’s intro solo, and got this one on the first try.
wrong and impossible
wow
so many wrong and impossible guesses in comments already.
would love to talk to some as to how they think their choice is even close.
oh well
maybe tomorrow
enough cues, hints, and things in actual song today that for most no help is needed but a list and an ear.
happy holiday to all
It's the same story...
Not positive, but feels like we may have seen the likes of this tune in past Days.
I think Jerry may have been wondering "How does this song go" for a bit during this performance.
I am certain we will have some things to talk about these next 4 Days.
Almost Thanksgiving, where does the time go??
Not yet Thanksgiving...
but we're already on seconds! (more ways than one).
Speaking of seconds - what's with the 17 seconds of blank space (no sound) at the end of this one? Is this Dave just messin' with us by extending the timing? No matter - this show is definitely up there, and in good sound too. Enjoy the extra helpings!
Not much time invested
It seems like I have spent more time in past years on one show than I have in total on my searches this year.
hey evergrateful
Happy Birthday !
i like your handle, a great name.
Don't need lyrics.......
when the played notes are as sweet as this. I particularly loved Bob's delicate, staccato strumming and the keyboardist's subtle but prominent contributions. The rest of the setlist is just incredible as well. When I get my time machine up and running I'm definitely going to put this date/place on my destinations list.
Hau dose thus ongo
How does the song go indeed. Great lead guitar intro and fiery ending. What comes after the ending helps to nail it down. A fine pair happened here at this show and also on an earlier day in this year's contest another side got to two(fer) too.
another first listen
Listened to the beginning of the song this morning getting ready for work and thought it sounded much like my favorite show from this year. Listened to more during the day then got to the "end". Consulted the DB50 Bible and was not surprised to see it was indeed only two nights after my fav. Amazing how the mix and sound was so consistent throughout this year. Also never knew that all but three UJB this year were in this position. So much fun and enlightening playing 30 Days of Dead! BTW, this night is my next fav this year. The NFA is awesome!
So putting the verbal shenanigans to one side, I think the way that the band build the intensity from 5.45 up to the crest at 7.30 is just blissful. Got this one earlier today, thankfully, but I didn't find it quite as easy as some of y'all.
lol
