30 Days of Dead
It's a Dead Head's most wonderful time of the year! Welcome to another 30 days of unreleased Grateful Dead tracks from the vault, one for every day of the month, selected by archivist and producer David Lemieux. The tracks are yours, 100% free gua-ran-teed, but the real fun is taking part in the challenge for the chance to win some sweet swag from the Dead.
Those of you who know what to do, feel free to skip right on ahead. For those of you who need a refresher, here's the drill:
You know your Ables from your Bakers from your C's, but can your finely tuned ears differentiate the cosmic "comeback" tour from a spacey 70s show? Each day we'll post a song from one of the Dead's coveted shows. Will it be from that magical night at Madison Square Garden in '93 or from way back when they were just starting to warm it up at Winterland? Is that Pigpen's harmonica we hear? Brent on keys? If you think you know, lob your answer in and you just might find yourself taking home our daily prize of a 2025 Grateful Dead wall calendar or the grand prize – a copy of limited, numbered, FRIEND OF THE DEVILS: APRIL '78 boxed set!
Probably one of the most crystal-clear shows I've listened to in some time. Love the audience and the period that shows like this had been performed. I think one of the best touring years ever as others might look towards its competitor year. If you know, you know... Yeah, you know! Playing every day and listening to the complete show once found and that 1st set is very powerful, hold up the whole show is very powerful!
I find that not all sites have all the info, or correct info. It almost feels like Dave and Crew are pointing this out to us. I've learned to trust, but verify.
Thank you Dave and Crew!
was gonna comment these multiple song selections were making for some fine listening but pretty easy pickings. Thought the same when i saw todays but my usual techniques aren't producing the easy answer. some close arrangements but not the exact one. Guess this time requires a little more digging.
Be patient. You will get an email in due time. I won once and it took several weeks before getting an email. Your calendar will come. Congratulations on being a winner!
I've yet to hear from anyone that has won the grand prize after all these years.
Why yes it is! I've been playing for about ten years. Success rate is about 60%, with the first couple years being around 20%. The more you play, the better you get! I won a calendar once and consider myself to be very lucky indeed. Keep on Truckin'! I think many of the veteran players would say the same.
