Nine months old, and already a critic...
I was sitting next to a nice couple who had a baby with them. I was hoping that the veritable newborn wouldn't start crying or anything but, to the contrary, he was very quiet and completely indifferent to the tumult around him. He alternated between smiling happily and seeming kind of bored. During the end of Midnight Hour, which was really loud where we were sitting with Bobby yelling and the band playing thunder, I looked over and this baby was yawning with his little arms outstretched. "This isn't his first show, is it?" I asked his mom, and she smiled and said, "No."

gotta do what you gotta do
i called in sick to work to attend these shows, Jerry's birthday and all... i remember trying to find my way through construction in Detroit to get home... went the wrong way on a freeway exit ramp... it was crazy, but worth every minute. ended up having to take another day off when we got back in order to "recover."

As I recall, this show was typical of this year. A little good, a little bad. Jerry was on his decline, however, he could still play brilliantly at times as is evidenced during the 2nd set Spanish Jam.

The venue marked my first trip to this particular venue. I remember waiting in a car dripping with sweat trying to get into the lot. Before the show I was roller blading of the Palace stairs and diving into a huge puddle. I spent most of my time helping someone try to find their dog, Alabama Getaway!!! The show was good but the second night was better I thought. I also made someones day by giving out a miracle to this show!!! It was always nice being kind something that has not evaded me through the years.

If I had to rant about the 7/23/94 Soldier Field Saturday show being vastly underrated- I am pretty sure that no one would underestimate the quality of this little run. With the next nights show especially well received. Jerry Ballads 1992 and later are awesome. There I said it.
