Hello, hope this is the right place to ask a question-this site is hard to figure out.About 8 years ago my friend gave me a show on a cd that had a year and Gay Parees written on it,assuming this meant Paris and I cant remember the year but it sounded like mid seventies-cant find the cd.It had a killer Friend with a long, beautiful keyboard solo in it.I used to play this for my young daughter, she loved this particular version. How can I find this show? The archive has a F.O.T.D. listed in Paris on 9-20-74 but its not the same version that was from my show. Can anyone help me find this show as my daughter who recently went away to college specifically asked me to find this song for her.Maybe there is hope to turn her on to the dead yet, as I have been trying for 18 years!Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey folks! I'm new here and I had a quick question. I work for Brookvale Records; we are the independent record label out of Long Island, NY releasing the Dick's Picks Series on vinyl. I'd like to start sharing info on here about our latest releases. But of course I wish to do so in an appropriate manner. Before I started posting about Dick's Picks Vol. 3 & 4 on sale and info on the upcoming Vol. 5 release, I thought I'd check in here. I'm certainly aware of community guidelines around forums like this acting as a fan, but I'm curious what the guidelines are for me as a "business." Am I permitted to post photos or links to our Store page, etc. within reason? If so, what specific forums would be appropriate for that? Don't want to be shunned for spamming!

I have just heard from Mac Dunlop that all Dick's Picks releases will be back in stock. We do not yet have an ETA on the missing ones but will try to make an appropriate amount of noise to bring them to the general attention when they are available again!

...did the Road Trips full-show download idea fizzle out? The links are still there for the V1N1 (79) full show downloads but they are dead. And those shows are not at live downloads, unfortunately. For those that have ordered the FLACs from live downloads, are you certain that the files are true lossless (i.e., from the original source) and not simply converted mp3s? The reason I ask is that I downloaded two of them and then compared the sound to the mp3s and I didn't hear a difference. Usually my ear can fairly easily distinguish such things on my system. Phenomenal release in 5-15-70. Please keep 'em coming just like that!!

I read your comment dajokr and checked a copy of 'Rare Cuts and Oddities' I purchased as a FLAC from LiveDownLoads a while back. The rapid analysis tool in Traders Little Helper states with 100% confidence that every track does is not contaminated by MP3 (for each track the report states 'looks like CDDA with probability 100%') so all seems fine. There are more sophisticated checkers out there but they take a while to set up. Of course I cannot guarantee that any other DLs from that site are OK too. It does raise the question of why and how LiveDownloads are selling so ,much more material than Deadnet and if their operation is approved and where they have sourced the material. I would guess that if they were an illegal or fake operation GDP or Rhino would have taken action by now, but who knows? What would be preferable is that if all the releases could be downloaded from here...I have no idea why that is not happening. ANy news on that Marye? thanks

That bit torrents are "stealing" music. Also Live Downloads is a legit site. They wouldn't do something shady like convert mp3 to flac and sell them. What's matter where you purchase stuff as long as you can find it? "Lazy lightning you say you never strike the same place. I want a double dose in any case" ... "You got to hear my supplication. Got to hear me now. A little bolt of inspiration"

...somewhere about bit torrents being stealing? Could somebody explain that issue to me? Also, if Live Downloads is paying to the band I would agree -- what does it matter where we purchase it? Same with the indie resellers, they are paying the freight. But, if I went into a store and saw the "Bonus Disc" for RT 3.3 being sold separately for 24.99 because you can't get it from the store anymore I would be more than a little displeased.

Not sure where the comment about torrents/stealing came from. For the record, I own several thousand recordings and have paid for every one. :) Still wondering about the Road Trips Full Show downloads - were they removed on purpose, and might they be made available again?

Last week I stumbled across technical info about uploading photos and now I can not find it. FAQ & HELP links at the bottom of the page are about the store. When I do a search I get many results but unfortunately clicking on a result that is in the forum goes to the first page of that topic instead of the post with the info returned in the search :( Since it seemed I came across the info fairly easy I thought I could find it again fairly easily so I did not note the info but no such luck. When one goes to submit content I would think info/restrictions would be listed there but I did not see anything. It could be somewhere obvious that I overlooked but right now I am out of time to search and this appears to be the place to ask. My questions are: 1. What is the max file size to upload a photo? 2. What is the max size in pixels? Thanks

the Fan Pix upload is quite temperamental and your problem may well have nothing to do with your image per se. That said, the Web can only display 72 dpi, so uploading hi-res is asking for trouble. I would recommend keeping the image no more than about 400 pixels wide at 72 dpi, just because bigger than that starts doing weird things to the page layouts. Jpg is the most reliable format to use, although in theory gif and bmp work also. Tif definitely does not. Also, all pix go into a moderation queue where I look at 'em and mostly turn 'em loose. About half the time the uploads contain no image so there's nothing for me to turn loose (see above). Still, this info should help you avoid some of the known trouble vectors. Thanks! (And yeah, one of the reasons the uploads go to moderation is that we occasionally get spammers or others uploading porn and the like and that is so not happening here.)

Looking to upload via the Submit content under user name on the left, which I have not tried to do yet, not post in a message. Dunno if there is any difference but I could see allowing less in a regular forum post as opposed to a "gallery". On the first page of the Community link at the top left I found, "File size limit is 1.2m. (Photo may take between 1-12hrs to appear on the site.)" At the Submit Fan Photo page it shouts (LOL), "ALL PHOTOS ARE SUBJECT TO APPROVAL AND WILL NOT BE "LIVE" IMMEDIATELY. IT CAN TAKE BETWEEN 1-24 HOURS TO APPEAR." so I figured a human inspects each one for several reasons. Also on the Submit Fan Photo page it has, "Upload your JPG, GIF, or PNG file here!" underneath the field with the browse button. I could see not wanting any uncompressed .tif or .tga files. Yeah I agree jpegs are the best for all around usage. I did some image info viewing from the Community link>Fan Photos. I sampled from Tickets, Concert and Festivals. I tried some I thought might be older and recent uploads. One labeled Further Tour 2010 has to be pretty recent, right? :) All the ones I checked were 400 pixels high, varying widths (600, 533, 419, 181, ...) and 300 dpi when saved and opened in a simple photo program. I wonder if there is an automated process before or after approval to make them all 400 pixels high? There was some other location I found max file and pixel size along with lots of other kinds of info, hence why I thought I could find it fairly easily again, but it was after continuously surfing the site for an hour or 3 so info retention was certainly diminished. I don't recall anything about file part but I want to say I saw a little over 1000 pixels as the max for one of the dimensions. I scanned it in at 300 dpi, will leave it at that, resize it down to 400 pixels high from 586 and it is only 68 KB so that should not be a problem. I'll give it a go here shortly and we shall see what happens.

uploading 300 dpi is a waste because the Web can only display 72 dpi and the software is almost certain to choke on the hi-res, but whatever.

When I clicked on upload for the pic @ 683x400 300dpi I got a message at the top, "The image was resized to fit within the maximum allowed resolution of 600x400 pixels". So me being me I had to mess around a lil more, :) Now I know the max res for sure, most likely max file size (a 1.2 meg .jpg or .gif would be very high dpi but not so much for a .png file) and well dunno about max dpi as of yet. If the software does not choke then we know it will take 300 dpi. Perhaps that 1000(?) I saw on the elusive info page is for dpi not res???I finally hit submit a few minutes ago.

M'kay, I went like I was going to upload something new from the start in a new tab and @ 200, just like the 1st @ 300, I did not see anything other than the scaled 150px × 88px above the browse field when I would click on preview. Then I tried 150, 100, 72 dpi and each time I did not see the image when I previewed. I left the first tab open after hitting submit just in case and used another tab to go to my account page and it still showed, "No photos uploaded yet for this member (yet)." So I went back to the tab I left open after submitting, clicked on edit, browsed to a 200 dpi version, same size of 600x350, uploaded, hit preview and I see it. I did not see it originally after hitting submit and thought that might be due due to waiting for it to be approved but apparently not. I tried to upload other versions and it kept reverting back to the 200 dpi each time I hit preview. I don't recall hitting submit again, a 2nd time (1st w/200 dpi) after the 300. Perhaps it took what it liked and for me to try and change it again I have to click on submit??? I tried to change it again and paying a little more attention I see it listing both files with delete checked next to the first one after clicking on preview. Unlike initially browsing for files once submit is hit the page has view and edit at the top and it appears it will not change the upload until submit it hit again. Maybe I did hit submit after initially hitting the upload button with the 200 dpi version. Doing too many thing can cause this confusion, lol. Well it is getting kinda late here and I'm not really where I should be at this time so I think I'll leave things where they're at for now as to not mess up the system too much, lol, and come back to this tomorrow. If I have to redo what I tried to upload today no biggie but I'm thinking where I left it is ok since resubmitting replaces the current image, we'll see tomorrow. I am game for trying it with a test file that can be nuked to determine what is the max dpi the system will accept as long as you are willing. Sometimes outside testing is better but I don't want to disturb or take up too much of your time Mary. I am guessing from your last comment you'd like to know too. It's got me a little curious at this point, a bit confused with trying too many things and it might be best to try from the start fresh(er) tomorrow.

With my time not being my own all too often yesterday and most of today did not work out as planned, thankfully nothing "bad". Cool I see the pic at my account and the show page. I only submitted from the original window twice. The first failed on your side at 300 dpi and the 2nd at 200 dpi went through. I did not hit submit on the 2nd test window I had open after the first failure. Aye, don't know what all yet but do know 300 dpi is a no go and 600x400 is the max. I will post here again when I try another one, only submit one at a time and wait for confirmation of failure or success before submitting another one. I won't go crazy I'll just try testing with a few that I want to upload anyway. Time to head home and write my story for the show 20 years ago today. A whole bunch, as opposed to ½ a bunch :P, of firsts for me that nite.

I just submitted a pic at 250 dpi and I did not see it in the preview, but non of the low res showed before either, and it is not showing after submitting. The 200 dpi one showed after the 2nd submit after the failed 300 dpi so I'm thinking 250 is a no go too. I will be AFK for a few hours and will check back later. Mary, you will probably be gone for the day, if it failed on your end I will resubmit at 225 dpi and that might be the final test since 200 works.

what about a cd of fave Dead tunes for the invites? Combine with a meaningful baby tune or two, and voila! You can make the cover yourself, including the crucial information-time, date, etc. Or create the label yourself-and paste on the cd's then mail them inside a very thin cd envelope instead of a case. Then your guests have an invite they will keep and actually enjoy into the future, while remembering your shower.********************************** By trying we can easily learn to endure adversity -- another man's I mean. I think because it is not released yet so the location it might be pointing to in the preview does have it yet until submitting??? After the first 300 dpi failure I was at the edit screen (had left the window open after submitting since it was not showing at my account page yet until it is released I do believe), upped a 200 dpi version, hit preview, saw nothing other than the scaled image until I hit submit and then at the view tab/screen I saw it. But that is a little different than the initial submit since that is like say everything is ok and one went to their account page and clicked on one of their fan photos to edit the title, description or change the photo. And one can't do that until release unless they leave the window open after submitting like I did. It appears 250 and I think 225 are no good too but lil confused since I was not getting the scaled image either after uploading the 250 one yesterday or the 225 one today. I resubmitted at 225 like I did for the first one at 300. I left the window open after submitting, uploaded the other version and hit submit. But testing at 225 since 200 works. I tried a couple of new test ones without clicking on submit and no preview or scaled image. Stepped away for a few then tried another test one and still no preview but the scaled image was there. Again I did not click on submit there, trying to avoid messing with your queue. I see only 2 more tests. The one I did yesterday and today I'll retry one last time at 200, still left the window open after hitting submit yesterday, then go to a new one at 225 but I'm thinking 200 dpi is the limit.

I just submitted a 200 dpi version of what I tried yesterday and earlier today. Still no image even at the view tab/screen as though I was editing it from my account home page. I thought it showed up last time. I wonder if there is something else going on today since it has been hit and miss whether I see the scaled image or not after clicking on upload, before submitting since I've only hit submit twice so far from the same one today. If still no good I'll scrap this one.

I submitted a new one at 200 dpi, saw the scaled image after clicking on upload, still did not see the full image when I hit preview and still nope after submitting. I wonder if there is a problem with the system today since what I did the first time does not appear to be working this time, resubmit with orig open and then saw full image under view even though it was not on my account homepage yet until the image is approved. Oh well try again next week, have a good weekend.

I am waiting on someone and figured I'd kill some time trying a bit more. ---I kinda ran on here, have that tendency, so maybe just scan it and I'll try one last thing later and make a more concise summery report--- There seems to be no pattern, hit & miss. One image I never get the scaled pic even at 72 dpi. It is the largest physical size pic as it is an 8x10 photo scanned in, cropped and resized to the 600x400 limit but as you lower the res the physical size, if printed, grows and maybe that has something to do with it??? But shouldn't since it is only 63 KB. When I upload the one and only that has worked so far it worked again & I see the scaled pic. Try another and maybe, the one again and no, yet another n maybe... I don't freakin' get it. I did one I don't care about at 72 dpi and saw the scaled image after upload, hit preview, did not see it other than the scaled, clicked submit and it was there like it is supposed to be. Tried doing what I did for the first and only successful one so far and it did not work this time with another pic at 200, 100 or 72 dpi, same pic at the different res. I deleted that one, tried a few others with clicking on submit, 72 & 100 dpi and they only gave me the scaled image after uploading and nothing when I submitted, I deleted those too. I just did one with uploading the very first taper's tic again, upload, saw scale, upped a different one also at 200 dpi, saw scaled, submitted and I see it like it is supposed to work. I stopped since it appeared to work, left that window open and came back here. Still have not learned anything really definitive other than possibly flaky system never showing in preview, sometimes showing the scaled image after uploading and sometimes showing correctly after submitting. I'm thinking if it does not show after submitting it did not make it to your queue, can't be published and it does not matter if it was the first normal attempt of my goofiness. (Addition after “ending” before posting of course is I think maybe an extra long file name does not work, one had 43 characters and no go, and that ‘ in the file name is ok but not & because when I changed & to _ and shortened as I say somewhere here it seemed to work. Also I tried adding “&” in an already short file name and it would not show the scaled image after uploading before submitting nor show after submitting). Before posting this I tried to do another one and now no matter what no scaled image after uploading, tried a few over and over but never submitted. Kept at it cause nothing else to do right, hello buddy where are you LOL, and going around trying to up 4 different ones, including the one that has worked, one that appears to have worked and 2 others and never had one pic show in scaled and when I got one of the 2 I'm trying to submit to show scaled after uploading I submitted but then it did not show so I deleted it. Sorry this got a bit long going round in circles adding more notes as I went trying to figure this out without success while still waiting on someone after WOW I did not realize it has been 2.5 hours since your post above Mary. Went to the topics page of this part of the forum to see since it shows time since last post. It would be nice if there were timestamps next to the posting date. This is getting nerve racking and this sort of thing is part of my job. I am really thinking there is something flaky with the system as that would explain why the same pic would work one time, not another, then yes... and also possibly partly why the no image in the queue is not uncommon. I stepped away from this for a bit and tried the one that never showed a scaled image after uploading. It was a kinda long file name although I have seen longer here before but that could be before image limits, pixels, res & size might have changed. I shortened and still no go. It had an "&" in the name and when I change it to a hyphen I saw the scaled image. Could be coincidence but I tried replacing the & with _ in the long file name and no go but first try with _ instead of & with shorter file name and I saw the scaled image. It did not preview, no surprise there since none have yet, and it did not show when I submitted. I tried the first "trick" from a few days ago and no then around an around I went again and now I see it after submitting. Ooops this grew some more while experimenting, getting a little frustrated but persevering and noting since brain death occurred a little bit ago and I'm not totally remembering all I did so I'll refer back to this later. Hopefully the two I think worked today, one right after your last post Mary and the 2nd just a little bit ago, that I see correctly after submitting is in the queue and you only see those 2 not all the other attempts that I deleted too. Ahh finally the call I've been waiting for, time to chill and officially start the weekend :)

I do believe that was in the limited edition rolling stone that was all about Jerry, right after he passed. This was a very limited release, good luck finding one. Mostly sent to subscription holders at the time, but I did see a copy at Barnes and Noble back in the day. I think I have a copy, let me check and get back with you. Peace
