    all about my band
Our band is called "Grooveyard" ( www.myspace.com/okgrooveyard ). We exist in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, Canada. It's a beautiful place to live, wine country, a couple of driving hours north of the Washington border. That said, there's precious few heads in the area. Our band's line up is: bass, drums, percussion, lead vocal, guitars X 2. The set list used to be all Dead tunes. Now it's expanding outward somewhat. (Stevie Wonder/Allman Bros./Original tunes...) For gigs we mostly do a few of the summer festivals held in our area. Check out the 'Festival of Freedom' at Grand Forks, B.C., or the 'Life and Arts Festival' held annually in Kelowna, B.C. I look forward to checking out the myspace links I see in these posts! All the best everyone, Grooveyard

Check out our website at www.thejfp.com and see what we do. As the elder statesman of the group (Gary on piano and organ) (my first show was Nassau Coliseum March '73), I know if you're a deadhead, you'll really enjoy our shows. I joined a four-piece band a few months ago as bassist, and we've performed "Truckin'" at our gigs. The guitarist and I are trying to work "Tennessee Jed" into the lineup. I had an acoustic guitar duo for a couple of years, but my partner moved to Colorado, where his girlfriend lives. We used to play a lot of Dead, including a whole set's worth on the 10th anniversary of the day Jerry died. A few weeks ago, I met a very talented guitarist named Patti Spadaro who has relocated to this area (near Pittsburgh) from California, where she wowed everyone with her chops. Patti heard me playing a few Dead tunes at an informal performance and introduced herself. We decided to pair up and plan to start playing shows next month. 60S2NZ

I am a founder and the bass player for The VW Project. The VWP is a 4 piece band that plays primarily JGB material, but alas we cannot ignore the GD material and as such, we do play some Dead tunes. We can be found on the web at www.thevwproject.com or www.myspace.com/thevwproject. Currently we are in rehearsals for the "Splintered Sunlight Family Campout" produced by Who Hill. This is an all day event in Consetoga, PA (Lancaster County) with (in order of appearence) Realitive Matter, The VW Project, Moses Livingston & The Raggamuffins and Splintered Sunlight. There is vending and camping with an acoustic jam around the campfire at the night's end. Music begins at noon on September 8th and addmission is $40 in advacne, $60 day of show. The bands are not getting paid a ton of money and the addmission is to help offset the costs of producing this show. This is the third year for this event and it's a ton of fun! For ticket information please go to www.whohill.net. Oh, and this site rocks!

new songs from my upcoming cd
First of all - Woody, checked out your myspace.com/woodyinthebasement page. Good stuff - like the mando in G minor.I put 4 new songs on myspace.com/chipwithrow last night. They are all on my upcoming CD titled Everyday Things. What you will hear on myspace and on my web site, chipwithrow.com, are the rough mixes. I'm sending them off to Black Dog Studios in Tampa to get mixed and mastered this week. The songs on myspace now are special because they feature the singing debut of my 5-year-old daughter Josie ("Gnu Gnu") and my wife Anna ("Everyday Things" - she does a whistling solo too). My friend Eric Jackson (myspace.com/ericjacksonmusic) plays melodica on "Gnu Gnu" and sings background on "Hello to the Rain." What I do is folk rock with a kids/family twist. My wife is my manager, and we're putting together a whole multi-media concept with activities, educational stuff, merchandise ... I'm a teacher, and a lot of the songs have (I like to think) learning value. My wife thinks Hello to the Rain sounds like a song Weir might sing. I've been told Gnu Gnu sounds like a Phish song - I know I've seen folks grooving to it at my gigs. Also on myspace, scroll down to the comments and check out the cd cover art done by my pal James Hixson. "Got a few wrinkles but that's OK, hang out in the breeze and they'll blow away"

I've played guitar, sang, &/or drummed in rock'n'roll cover bands, original rock bands, blues bands, jazz combos, bluegrass groups, & even orchestras & string ensembles. Currently I'm playing in a church band, sometimes drums, sometimes guitar, always singing. I've tried to get the other musicians in the band interested in doing some dead-inspired extended jams during prayers & other parts of the service, but so far not much interest. “Santa Claus wears a Red Suit, He must be a communist. (I posted this in the tirbute section too) I have been playing in a Dead band in Blacksburg, Va (the home of VA Tech) since 1986 called The Kind. We formed at my 20th birthday party as the band we had scheduled to play found themselves in a state unable to perform so I grabbed some buddies and we took the stage. Now we are approaching our 24th anniversary and my 44th birthday - yikes! Our only goal was and is to have fun playing music. We have had a handful of lineup changes over the years I and the rhythm guitarist and lead vocalist Wendy Godley are the only founding members that still play regularly. We have had a bunch of really talented folks come and go (and come back). We do a reunion show every summer at the Port O'Call in the Outer Banks of NC - we have as many former and current players as we can get together and put on one hell of a show. Folks coming in from as far as San Francisco and Hawaii to do these shows. We have gotten to play with some other great folks over the years including David Gans - who sat in at a gig at the Underground on Howard St in San Fran. Jerry Abrams (of Head Lights) joined us with trippy light shows and congas on some shows in SF that summer (1987). Robin Sylvester from RatDog played a couple of shows with us in Blacksburg and at the OBX reunion shows (he played guitar and keyboards - and is great at both and a great guy). We have opened for Rick Danko, Jefferson Starship, New Riders, Hot Tuna and a few others over the years. Our current lineup features me, Wendy Godley, Rick Godley (drums), Danny Dunlap (guitar, synth, vocals), Mandy Cash (vocals) Steve "Slash" Hunt (bass) - also Greg Bump (bass). Slash is a monster bass player and toured with Bob Margolin for years (Bob was Muddy Waters' guitar player for the last 8 years of his life and is standing next to him in "The Last Waltz"). Former members include Mark McLeod (rhythm guitar, vocals) who is now teaching economics at Penn St, and Tom Lehman (bass), and Tim Taylor (drums) - Tim lives on the Big Island of Hawaii and plays with Hawaiians Unlimited and competes in triathlons. Our website is thekind.org and we've got a bunch of videos on YouTube - search for "The Kind Blacksburg) Tom Snediker Lead guitar, vocals The Kind, Crossties, Scott Fore and His Hillbilly Hotclub

I'm a regular on the "old " Deadnet (now deadcentral.com). That site is down for maintenance, and they have a message up reminding us to check out this site. This in the first discussion I stopped in, and I've been clicking on a lot of the links, checking out the myspace pages, etc. The biggest gift I got from The Grateful Dead was the inspiration to play music. I learned how to play drums by going to hundreds of GD concerts and watching Billy and Mickey, and then going home and playing my drumset while cranking my bootleg cassettes through headphones. I played in GD cover bands for a couple of years, and then went on to playing original music. Through my love of The Rhythm Devils, I learned about electronics and sampling and so on, and no I use the primitive "technology" of drums alongside modern digital technology. My current project is The Rhythm Method; we collaborate via the internet and do shows in our own towns, with different musicians, under the same name. Check us out at http://www.myspace.com/followtherhythmmethod. Hopefully in 2010 various Rhythm Method lineups will be hitting the road; drop us a line to inquire about booking us at your club, festival, etc. Our live performances are a lot of fun; we use a vast array of percussion from around the world, as well as guitars, keyboards, samplers, DJs, vocalists, dancers, etc. For more info, email me: lovecraft2001@hotmail.com

I'm not in a band right now, but I'd like to change that. So I set up a Myspace with some scratch recordings I made of myself, hoping to either find or form a viable working band of jam oriented individuals, ideally other multi-instrumentalists. Currently seven originals and four covers (yep, one track is a twofer, they have a 10 song limit) and any and all feedback is welcome whether it's roses or rocks. I'm equal opportunity like that. http://www.myspace.com/mrpidmusic Peace, Pid Conversation is always more interesting than recitation, so speak your mind and not someone else's.

Hello! I play guitar in a band called Reform. It´s instrumental psychedelic...well jazz-rock is not exactly correct...but maybe somewhere between GD and Mahavishnu Orchestra? Check his clip out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0fP5BBKFB0 It was recorded here in Stockholm, Sweden last sunday. It´s based on a classical piece by a swedish composer, Wilhelm Peterson-Berger. The middle section is a minimalist, semi-ambient jam that turned out quite nice. Check www.myspace.com/reform1 for more info.

We're Red Grenadine, a Grateful Dead tribute band from Summit Hill PA. We've recently played the Sol Gathering festival over Memorial Day weekend, and we've got opportunity to get booked for plenty of gigs and festivals. We just need a keyboard player to fill out our sound! Below are some links to check out. We've only been together over a 2 month period and already have over 20 tight songs that we have performed live. Our myspace page contains 3 songs we recorded at a rehearsal (Casey Jones, Eyes of the World, Franklin's Tower) www.myspace.com/redgrenadineband Here's a video of us playing China Cat Sunflower-->I Know You Rider http://sharing.theflip.com/session/ba6643d046af2d060274223226a914d3/vid… If you're even somewhat interested, send us a message. We practice bi-weekly, learning the songs at home and then getting together. Most of us are available to get together to rehearse multiple times per week if needed. If you're not a keyboard player, check out the music and let us know what you think! Thanks guys.

those of you who know me on facebook can get a free stream link to a live performance of one of my originals that will be on that upcoming album - the link is on my homepage right below the profile picture - hope y'all like it :) peace and mellow music to all, have a grateful day as always, Bus ps to those few people out there who have never even met me in person and have been sending me threatening and annoying messages, PLEASE STOP THAT. IT CAN BE REALLY DANGEROUS TO BELIEVE RUMOURS - THEY OFTEN TURN OUT TO BE FALSE. some of you seem to have heard rumors that i am some horrible person - i'm not. ask anyone who's met me and they'll tell you that. i have been touring with GD, JGB, Phil, DSO, Furthur, Weir, etc etc for years. nobody at any show has ever had a problem with me. not once. those of you who persist in the activity of sending me or anyone annoying messages should please cease it and mind your own business. it's why i don't come here much anymore. Deadheads should be respectful of others, not annoying towards them. thank you for considering that thought :) have a grateful day :)

We have a show Nov 13 (Sat) at the Oasis Pub in Charleston SC. We are a punk/fast sounds band that does Grateful Dead covers. Nothing but. Not hardcore, more like the Dickies, Adicts or Dead Milkmen. Kinda sounds like the Ramones doing Dead songs. No songs are over three minutes, no guitar solos, no jams. It's a fun time, not alot of screaming at people. Band name - Wake of The Blood - (It's a play on their Wake of the Flood record) Here are some YouTube's . We don't have a demo yet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fO7865FkLRU&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JAydSXxl4Vc&feature=related

But I'd love to collaborate with some other Dead scholars on a covers band that included a good number of Dead tracks. I sing, I play passable acoustic guitar. Don't have a whole lot of gear, just a whole lotta love for the music. No, I don't have a myspace page. If you're near Long Beach (California), let's meet up for a listening party and see if we are interested in a collaboration. This is not intended to be a big touring band or get on a label, just music for music's sake in my local area.
