I essentially gave up drinking altogether when my wife got pregnant almost five years ago, and in that time my tastes in what beer I like has changed drastically. I used to be heavily into IPAs but now find them too bitter and/or hoppy. I live just outside of Baltimore City, and Charm City Meadworks has an excellent line of mead that's both enjoyable and refreshing. I just don't keep much alcohol in the house anymore; I much prefer listening to my records with my daughter.

No Nancy's in your area... Nancy's stuff is the best. For one thing, it is the only cream cheese I know of that does not have carob bean gum, guar gum, carrageenan, or other bogus thickener, but actually contains nothing but milk and cultures. (Also, my friend Jan works there, but that's another story.) I recommend taking Wilfred up on his kind offer.

That is cool. Man to be sipping one under a palm tree in the hot sun sounds real good right now. I'll have to settle for drinking one under a blanket looking out to the Michigan snow.

I picked up 3 large (21.5 oz) bottles as soon as the brew became available in my area (last week). The price per bottle is up there ($12.99 per bottle). Cracked my first bottle yesterday to celebrate a Monday bike excursion, and I am as we speak finishing off a jar I had remaining from the trip. 1 down, 2 bottles to go and I'd say it's a winner! The almond note really comes through in the initial tasting. I also appreciate the higher ABV count. The reddish hue reminds me of another IPA favorite, Sierra Nevada Torpedo. Bring on the sixers!

a friend of mine went to a Dead show with me 7/6/95 (his first). he was really struck by the really nice beer that everyone in the lot seemed to have. I had not thought about it until he brought it up. I'm wondering which breweries I'll see represented in Chi (assuming I still get my miracles of course). Cheers

...Porter Joe by Wisconsin Brewing Co.Bourbon Barrel Scotch Ale by Central Waters (Amherst, WI) Warped Speed Scotch Ale by Lake Louie (Arena, WI) mmmmmmmmmmmmm... Yankee Buzzard (WBC, Verona, WI) Still have some Sprecher Sodas, an Anchor Steam or 2 and last but not least Pumpkin Pie Lust by New Glarus. Hoping to get out and hit the bike slopes next week for one more time this fall?? Hope so. Today went to Mirror Lake St. Park at dusk for a fried Chicken dinner and before that an afternoon of hiking along the Crawfish River in Dodge Co., WI. Finally got to stop in to see the nice trails there at a park I'd never visited but have happened upon several times whilst zipping through WI on WI-16 West. Went to visit the folks this weekend and enjoy the 80% popping fall colors as much as I could before the snow flies here in WI.

If anyone wants to taste a fantastic IPA, give this year's Sierra Nevada Spring Seasonal a try. It's described as a tropical IPA, and I'd say it's a good description with citrus, papaya, and mango notes. What a tasty beer! Yum.

I'll post this over here too, since there's this nice dedicated page. There are so many excellent craft breweries around ATL that it is hard to narrow it down. I love a bright IPA like Creature Comforts Tropicalia, or Terrapin Hi-5. Sometimes I'm at the other ends of the rainbow, drinking a local porter or a gose. Orpheus, Second Self, Monday Night, and Sweetwater all make some great beers. But my current fave of all is a summer ale homebrew I made a few weeks ago featuring infused fresh ginger root. I got lucky making that one and I immediately made another batch because we (friends & neighbors) plowed through 5 gallons pretty fast.

I hear the cloudy juicy IPA from back east is good: haven't seen any in Colorado.Heady Topper has always been a fave, but my New Hampshire friend hasn't been able to buy any as it must fly off the shelves. We do have several good breweries in Colorado, so here's a few in my frig: Fate Brewing Osura Gose (sour), from Boulder Funkwerks Dry hopped Provincial (sour), from Ft Collins Odell St Lupulin (pale ale), from Ft Collins Oskar Blues Beerito (mexican lager), from Longmont Out-of-state beers: Epic Sour Apple (Utah, but they might brew in Denver too) Uinta Tangerine IPA, from Utah Russian River Pliny the Elder IPA (down to my last bottle)
