Near the end of the Live/Dead era
This seems to be the final Dead show where they played Dark Star, St Stephen and Lovelight in relative sequence.
no stress for a ticket
Hitched the 15 miles to Port Chester. Walked up to the ticket booth and bought a 5th ticket on Jerry's side. The Capitol Theater was the best indoor venue I ever saw the Dead. Outside the building was run down. Inside was one of the most beautiful theater spaces of all time. It held 1500 ? Some crazy dude in the next row in front of me took off all his clothes while Jerry kept playing and watching the strange scene go down. Two or three burly bouncers came over within a couple minutes and picked him up pulled his pants back on and carried him out. Rock Medicine anyone? Those four nights are a distant memory so I'll include them all on the first night entry. Acoustic Dead was honed to a fine edge. NRPS was at a peak. The electric Dead sets rocked. Almost a living room vibe to these shows. Febuary 71 Capitol Dead had so many new songs. Tickets sold out weeks in advance. It was fast change.1970 was the end of early era acoustic Dead. Super creative time. But the years 69,71,72,73,74 were each amazing creative movements. Recordings of the Nov. 70 Capitol shows seem to be rare. Audience tapes. What about the Vault?
