    Yowza, what a show!!
One of the best shows I've ever seen. The Great American Music Hall is by far one of the best places to see your favorite band. The Dead happen to be mine. I was about twenty feet away from Jerry and I could really see what he was doing with his guitar. The cat was truly gifted. Damn I miss him....Wilum

...and what a show to get on the bus with. I was only 13 years old when I went to this show and it changed me forever. I have been a lifelong dead head since this day.

I don't think I know a soul (aside from band folk) who were at this show. Say more! Last week the Rex Foundation had a gathering that consisted of playing this CD, with light show, at the Great American. This led to a lot of talk amongst our little group about what the original was like. My friend Tom and I envisioned the collective top blowing off everyone's head as Jer sang for the first time "Who can stop what must arrive now/Something new is waiting to be born..."

Our buddy Mike (aka Fletch) worked for Front Room Pizza, the kitchen consessionaire at GAMH. Friend Fud rang me up and asked if I wanted to help Mike with him in the kitchen for this unpublisized show. Well, YES!!!! Served pizza, heard most of the show well and it was great. Haven't heard any tapes. Some short of music industry convention crowd. No girls twirlling right of stage. Kinda buttoned down. Sound great. Were there really live crickets in the basement miked for Blues for Allah? Watching Bill Graham socialize with Jerry and crew behind the stage was fun. One of my best Dead moments.

I considered myself a veteran by this show at the ripe old age of 21. There was a column stage right at the front corner of the 2 foot stage. Jerry was on that side and I spent the entire show dancing with and behind that column, bouncing off it and nothing but 10 feet of air between me and Jerry for the entire night. I was sure that I had found nirvana. You are right Sweeps, no girls twirling stage right, just me - but then I was kind of a hottie back then! Definitely one of the best shows - EVER!

So, an unnamed friend was down on Polk Street (God knows WHAT he was doing down there) and he noticed the marquee on the GAMH. He called Steve & Judy and they barreled on down and got inside. Me, I was down in Tucson with Sharon and the rest of that crew. We heard all about the show within a day or two and Gam showed up a couple weeks later with board tapes!!! Needless to say we were all FUCKING BLOWN AWAY! I still get chicken skin whenever I listen to this one. Can't rate it high enough.

The intro the H>S>F and the Eyes, I can only imagine 600 of your closet friends. The sound in small venues was always a little clearer or seemed to be separated better.
