A pleasant surprise
While looking to round out my collection of shows from '78 I came across this and figured why not. Having heard nothing about it I was not expecting a whole lot. By the time "Peggy-O" was done I was in awe of how amazing this show turned out to be. A massively under rated show."...the powerful plays goes on, and you may contribute a verse"

third row seats and ten foot
third row seats and ten foot high signs saying no smoking or drinking. so we smoked and drank and got busted!
Damn near a perfect show
Short but very sweet.
Gets my vote for best Iko Iko.
My first Dead show...and I
My first Dead show...and I didn't get it...it''s a shame because it's a great one..I was too into Styx and Kansas at the the time....I didn't get the Dead till '82 or so.......I'm glad I can say I was there though...

Totally under-rated show. Should be considered a "classic." J.G.'s vocals & lead work are exceptional. Feels like the band knew/felt J.G. was "on it" this gig and just gave him space to fly. Personal fave tunes: 'Peggy-O' (sublime vocals)/Minglewood/Scarlet-Fire/Ship of Fools (sublime vocals). There are moments which bring tears to your eyes from ecstatic appreciation. Prime candidate for a 'Dick's Picks'. Peace, y'all......
Love the '78-81 Dead - their peak
It doesn't get any better than the Dead from '78-81, IMO. Great song selection, vocals and instrumentation. Wish I coulda' been there for one in this era! (I was 4-7 years old) What's your favorite period from their long live history? Try to be impartial - I know a lot of you were fortunate enough to get to see them live! Some of us only get to enjoy them on record and thanks to Youtube. But that's better than nothin'!
