You can also find great inserts/covers for these discs (in chronological order) from Sustainabill. http://30daysofdead.weebly.com/ I've been making my 30 days version a little less rigid than chronological...and more flowing like a show. I like more a variety skipping back and forth between era's for the Christmas presents I'll be giving out. I remember giving out two CD's in the St. Louis Furthur Shows parking lot and getting two really nice emails from the two kind people I gave them too (they were youngins). Saying that they were blown away by the guessing of what awesomeness was next....I think both the youngsters favorites was the Easy Wind from Pigpen. So fun to pass the torch to the guy who says in the parking lot...hey man, all I have is 3 Released records of the Dead....you got any shows? ;-) ♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥

I just sat down and organized the tracks chronologically on disc, includent the Scarlet>Fire bonus from the Warfiled that popped up on the first! It's awesome how planned out the song choice now seems. Mine look like this:Disc 1- The 60's Disc 2- 1970-71 Disc 3- 1972-1978 Disc 4- 1980-82 Disc 5- 1983-1989 Disc 6- The '90's

This is going to be a place where we can continue the discussions of the recent promotion 30 Days of Dead has sparked. What a wonderful month it was, but once it's gone....well we got two versions of that song didn't we. LOL. Besides continuing the wonderful discussions that this brought up, we can also share the ways we'll make up our gifts to others from this great promotion.♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥ Twirly Banner

It would be interesting to discuss this a little bit more. I'm really not the social networking type. My wife spends 6 hours a day IM'ing on FaceBook, but I'm lucky if I check my E-mail once a week. If I don't make an effort, I'll just be "out of the blue, into the black" and retreat into my own head. Talking to my cat about GD. It's becoming harder for me to keep in contact with my bros that I toured with. A few have passed now. When we do have time, it seems there is so much other life to talk about, and real time bonding with the music playing is rare. I don't mean to gush so much, but the odd thing, is that this simple promo touched me so deep.

It sounds like you are in the same boat that a lot of us are in. That's why I am grateful for this site and the folks who come here as well as for Furthur. We got to keep this magic alive. We will get by. We will survive. Btw = I agree with you about Facebook! Those sites make me cringe. I prefer being a tad more anonymous! Once the narrative information about Sugar Magnolia is released, the compilation of documentation for 30 Days of Dead will be complete, It's available for download at 30daysofdead.weebly.com. It appears as though all of the music will fit on 5 chronological CD's. Pigpen: Cream Puff War - Easy Wind A (64:16) Pigpen: China Cat Sunflower - He's Gone (71:54) Brent : Estimated Prophet Cassidy > Don't Ease Me In (67:46) Brent: St. Stephen - Let It Grow (60:23) Keith/Vince: Playing in the Band - So Many Roads (78:04) What song do we explore on December 1st? I nominate Ramble on Rose. Does anyone have a favorite version that they would like to share for our guessing game? Or have the rules changed? Maybe we ought to listen to a "Song of the Week," and select the most-liked version by consensus. This would definitely lead to lively discussions if we remain actively interested. What surprise awaits us on Day 31?

What a great run! In no particular order...I logged into the site numerous times over the 30 days and found something new every time. Met a dude online that sent me a DVD of of three SBD's of a run at MSG. Met another dude online and we're gonna keep the discussions going and are planning on doing a CD(s) swap. Got two friends in line for me to burn them the 30 Days to DVD. Kept a spreadsheet of the songs, dates and locations. Read some grateful and (quite amusing) hateful posts. Downloaded 38 unreleased songs (1 per day, 4 doubles, 1 triple and the "B" cuts). Won a weekly prize! (Chose the Warner Bros. Vinyl box set.) Was given a link to a hilarious Brokedown Palace that is started in the wrong key and Jerry says, "It's all f*&%$@ up man!" Got some cool album artwork from Canyon Critter that looks really great on my iPod. While doing "research" (HA! Research!), re-discovered "Bear's Choice" and the AMAZING Katie Mae. Probably much more. Gracias, rg

Yeah, the 30 Days promo was great. I hope something gets going to keep me coming back to the site every day... If the Dead.net people are listening, the next thing needed is a mobile app that could link to the site(taper's corner, the store, the forum). That would be great. While nothing will top free downloads as a contest, perhaps asking other types of GD trivia questions could be interesting. I am a trivia guy and have tons of questions in my head.

Many heartfelt thanks for the efforts of those who put this together and for those wonderful posters who kept the info and artwork flowing. This 30 days has prompted me to read the McNally book again and listen to whatever I have pre-71. I just love Pigpen. Best wishes for a healthy and prosperous December!

There must be at least eight songs still left in the vault after the contest, right? If there was a way to get, say, ten bucks from half of the fifty-million people that showed up the first week of November and crashed the server looking for free songs, that could pay for buying the catalog from Rhino and royalties. It'd be like Harley buying itself back from AMF. Then find a way to get David Lemieux and Charlie Miller to transcribe it to flac and put it up on archive.org. And while I'm dreaming: ditch the streaming, the mandatory MP3s, the show blackouts, and put all the soundboards back, too! :D)) Scott

First of all I had a wonderful time, and most of you found the site I've been on for years, which has truly been a blessing to my life. I've met and danced with some great friends this last 2 years simply because of Dead.Net. Here's a click-able link to Sustainabill's Insert for the discs...it's really cool: http://30daysofdead.weebly.com/ Also I would like to propose a new contest....this one, I'll do this week and your prize will be a brand spanking new "trade only" secret movie that some of you may not have... Sunshine Daydream Documenting the Creamery Benefit show and one of the finest ever heard IMHO. 8-27-72 Venetta, OR at the Old Renaissance Fairgrounds. This is a highly sought after unreleased video that is only traded. It is also the one that is the full and rare one that not alot of people have. I'm coming up with a good contest but any ideas will be welcomed....perhaps we can do this every week, and have one person do it, etc. etc. for the month of December. Well, there's the prize....now we just need to come up with a good contest. ♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥ Twirly Banner

What an awesome contest! I finally got to put my best skill to practical use! :) Anyone know how long until when the first winning entry was submitted each day? A couple of days I had thought that I was likely the first respondent (e.g., yesterday, I submitted in roughly 6 minutes). No such luck. Apparently, there are people even more obsessed than me! :) Cheers, Odeo

I got an email from a friend asking about a FB post (yeh, but not obsessively so) asking me why I was still on 'that GD stuff.' !!! I have been so incredibly joyful this past 30 Days, having been without my beloved Dead (except for one cd - the very first RoadTrips selfishly purchased a few years ago- and what little plays on my classic hits station) for nearly 12 years. My life has been focused on single parenting 3 boys on very little, my cassette player was broken by one of them 10 yrs ago, and my ex took the stereo leaving me with lots of GD vinyl but no way to play it (and he was NOT a deadhead so did not 'allow' me to listen to it, no idea how THAT happened.) I now have an incredible FREE collection to get started again with and have been dancing and happy for 30 days now. No way to say THANK YOU!! enough. Two downloads were not complete but I plan to fix that asap. Thanks to all who have made this possible and reminded me that the most happy times in my life are those spent with this awesome music playing! I have found archive.org and will NEVER be without GD music again. Keeping it alive!

nanabool....it's hard to raise 3 boys (wow) with 2 much less alone. You'll find funny stories about deadhead/nondeadhead marraiges in the forum here as well that might make you smile. Glad you found your home....but don't forget that archive.org has 1000's (way more) of shows on the computer you can listen to as well. It's truly a great resource. Just go here and look up the Grateful Dead http://www.archive.org/details/GratefulDead It's really nice when I'm working on a project @ work and don't have any music with me.♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥ Twirly Banner

If you missed some Downloads or want to turn someone on to them they are still available. Note below is from dead.net/30Days/archive The music of The Grateful Dead is meant to be shared and enjoyed by everyone. That's why we created the 30 Days of Dead. We at Dead.net realize that it was sometimes a little tougher than it should have been for you to download the music (especially that first week - sorry!, so we thought it only right that we give everyone a second chance to get every second of the music. It's the kind thing to do. Until the evening of December 8, 2010, we will keep this page and all of the links to the music live so that everyone has the chance to get and enjoy all of the songs.

I got a feeling Euro heads were not included due to shipping costs. Just a hunch. I doubt there was any sinister plan to not include them. However if Critter can get another contest going I think it would be great to include our friends from across the sea. However I doubt Badger is super interested in "winning" one of my shows since I would bet he has nearly everything I have. If not, well then he could get hooked up for sure. thanks kindly for thinking of us overseas heads for any new unoffical contest. I too doubt there is a sinister plan, just an isolationist attitude and recurrent lack of consideration for the past 4 years. Inflated shipping prices, rejected credit cards, exclusion from contests, exclusion from special offers, exclusion from deadnet store downloads and now this subscription farce etc etc. Everytime it seems to be getting better there is some new foul up. It's too dumb to be a plot, but it sure is hard work sometimes to be a foreign deadhead. Still we are used to it, while you folks were riunning around collecting ticket stubs we were waiting year on year on year for a visit from our favourite band. And we have become very resourceful and hooked up with just about everything, even from the most surprising places. ;-)

We could all submit the funniest things the band said during a show....... I was listening to one of the shows from 95 (I was looking for Unbroken Chain) and starts making a joke of it..."Help on the range, Franklin's Glauwer, Trauma in the train, Florina." The omni march 28, 1995 I am sure we could all find some seriuously funny stuff and then vote which is the funniest, I am quite stumped on something really awesome for a contest anybody else have any ideas?

In addition to the chronological list given by soulcrow, here are some alternate arrangements for those of use that want to burn to CD. Total: 343 minutes across 5 discs (68 min average per disc). DAY OF RELEASE - put the B versions at the end...with disc breaks I opted to stay closer to the 68 minute mark rather than 75+. DISC 1: New Speedway Boogie, Dark Star, Althea, Playing In The Band. DISC 2: Easy Wind (a), Sugaree, He's Gone (a), Estimated Prophet, China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider, Cream Puff War. DISC 3: Saint Stephen, The Music Never Stopped, Truckin', New Minglewood Blues, Lost Sailor > Saint Of Circumstance, New Potato Caboose, Cold Rain And Snow, So Many Roads, Sugar Magnolia (19th). DISC 4: Alligator, Cassidy ; Don't Ease Me In, Tennessee Jed ; Let It Grow, Dupree's Diamond Blues, Help On The Way > Slipknot! > Franklin's Tower. DISC 5: My Brother Esau, Shakedown Street, Mason's Children, Let It Grow, Uncle John's Band, Sugar Magnolia (30th), Easy Wind (b), He's Gone (b). SUPER SETLIST - this takes into account the general placement of the song within a set, but I also wanted to space out the duplicate songs so they didn't appear on consecutive discs, and stay fairly close to the 68 minute average. DISC 1: Cold Rain And Snow, New Minglewood Blues, New Speedway Boogie, Easy Wind (a), Cream Puff War, Mason's Children, My Brother Esau, Tennessee Jed ; Let It Grow. DISC 2: Sugar Magnolia (19th), Truckin', He's Gone (b), Sugaree, China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider, The Music Never Stopped, So Many Roads, Cassidy ; Don't Ease Me In. DISC 3: Help On The Way > Slipknot! > Franklin's Tower, Estimated Prophet, Easy Wind (b), Althea, Let It Grow. DISC 4: Shakedown Street, Lost Sailor > Saint Of Circumstance, He's Gone (a), Playing In The Band. DISC 5: Dupree's Diamond Blues, Dark Star, Saint Stephen, New Potato Caboose, Alligator, Sugar Magnolia (30th), Uncle John's Band.
