I got an interesting PM here. Sounds like one of those "Nigerian letter" scams to me. Or someone else with a sob story... has this been circulating much? "...Hello, I found you very interesting with a faith that you will be a great friend to me. Pls can you contact me with my address so that i can tell you more about myself with my photo and the reason why i contacted you. teeyah4you@yahoo.com Thanks. Teeyah Bonke...."

What Do You Do About Downloads Purchased from dead.net?
I purchased 52 album downloads from dead.net over the last year. I need to recover some. What do I do? There is no customer service number in the store and they don't answer inquires very well.

What is the best way to post photos on this site? I submitted a photo through a specific show's page several weaks ago and it was never posted. I realize that it was a very poor quality photo of the Omni venu screen in Alanta in '93. How do we know if the photo was received if we get no feedback? Also, what criteria is used to select photos? Is it based on quality of photography, uniqueness, or authenticity of the show? Don't get me wrong, I am very pleased with the direction this site has gone. Although I realize that this format was created as a marketing machine that can help give insight as to what the fans would want to buy in the future, I believe it is an invaluable resourse for Deadheads as well. It has motivated me to dig through the old shoe boxes of photos and stuff to see what would turn up. Unfortunately, most of the good stuff is pre digital camera (not that I was in the right state of mind to take good shots in the first place). I was a witness to some great moments and I hope the horizons of acceptablility for submitted photos will be expanded somewhat. Thank you for a real good time. DMD

    User Created Topics...
....policy has not changed, sorry. There are no user-created topics, nor will the software support some areas with and some areas without that feature. Think the topics and forums are clunky now? Imagine it with several hundred threads.... We continue to encourage you to let us know what topics you'd like to see. Goffchile, if there's something you want to discuss that you don't see a forum for, please just drop me a line and we can most likely work out a place for that conversation.

First of all, I am new here and think the new website is very good, and I like the ideas for many of the forums, but the execution is a little of a problem. As others have said, the forum section is cumbersome and not terribly conducive to having an actual discussion between members (community forum, right?) I think the users should have more freedom to create descriptive topics/threads under the subsets and specifically respond to others interested in that same topic without having having to plow through dozens of unrelated posts. As an example, the "I'm looking for" section is really almost useless because you can't actually find anything in it. It does make sense in some categories to limit topics--for example, there is no point in having more than one thread on any particular show, And I think some of the predetermined threads where folks are invited to share particular experiences, introduce themselves, discuss dead related charities etc. make sense, but user made subtopics with discreet threads also make sense in some areas. That is my dime for a cup a coffee. Thanks to the moderators!

Same here - a balmy 37 degrees last I checked. Better that than the cold, ice and snow we had the prior 10 days. Kind of a warm-up actually...we were having weather portentous of an early start to winter. The cold will be back though. More snow and I think I'll be strapping on the snow shoes.

and they sent my Dave's 23 to the wrong address. As soon as I got the shipment confirmation email, I called and emailed with my change of address and was assured over the phone that it would arrive at my new address. As it turns out, they shipped it to my old address and now I have to track it down somehow at my old apartment building. It was probably placed in my old mailbox which is likely now someone else's mailbox. I changed my address with the U.S. Post Office well over a month ago, but I guess when UPS delivers through the USPS (as indicated by the tracking history) they don't pick up your address change? I emailed customer service today again and they said basically, "Sorry, your shipment is too far along in the order process to change or add." Too far along in the order process? Really? Do you think so? Oh yeah, you've already shipped to the wrong address this last Friday after I informed you immediately of my address change. Customer service also stated that if the package is sent back to them, they'll then forward it to me. So now I have to depend on the kindness of strangers to get my numbered edition that has since sold out? Um, thanks. Remember when they would confirm your subscription address? Why did they stop doing that? I've bought so much stuff from this site over the years. I'm a totally Dead-icated fan. I think a little more care and respect is in order here. At least enough to get my subscription to the right address. Thanks for reading my rant. Peace.

I received this email about closing my account. How is activity measured; posting or logging in? I have logged several time over the last five years. In an effort to maintain the best possible experience for our users, we periodically remove inactive accounts from the site. We noticed you haven’t logged in for over 5 years. If you would like us to keep your account, simply log in to the site within 2 weeks. If you don’t remember your password, you can reset it HERE. www.Dead.Net/User/Password Thanks!

That does seem to have gone out a bit overenthusiastically. All should be good if you're logged in and posting, but if I hear otherwise I'll post it.

Hey Now! Went to download today's Jam Of The Week and the tile is gone, did you remove this feature? If so can I put in a vote to bring it back? I have been collecting these since you started and don't want to stop now. Please reconsider as this is my favorite part of the site!

Shorter than a Government Shutdown I see that the Jam of the Week is back - I feel so much better now and wondered why I didn't be like Alfred E. Neumann and say What Me Worry? It's just that the tile was gone too! And back it is with over an hour of '73 Dead from the Kiel Auditorium. Thanks, love these jams and look forward to them every week.

Hello,

This might seem like an odd question, but have you ever reconsidered listing Allen Ginsberg's site in the Family Links section in light of his association with NAMBLA?

In case you don't know, NAMBLA is a pedophile advocacy organization that has spent decades trying to repeal the age of consent and enable its members to victimize children. I'm not smearing them; they identify themselves as pedophiles.

Ginsberg openly supported this group for years, claiming to do in defense of free speech. I'd like to think that nowadays, we can perceive how disingenuous that excuse is. There's nothing democratic, liberal, progressive or anti-authoritarian about the sexual abuse of the most vulnerable members of society. And while Ginsberg is gone now, NAMBLA is still around and still using Ginsberg's membership to legitimize their abusive agenda.

I realize that Ginsberg's art has been important to a lot of people, but does that mean we need to immortalize him in perpetuity? Many people close to me have been victimized by people like Ginsberg, and it saddens me to see him posthumously propped up by the Dead organization.

I was wondering the same thing as I am not a member of any of those services. Maybe they could stream it or offer it on the site. Perhaps there's some $ getting in the way? That's my guess because it's usually what gets in the way.

Or what remnant of it remains, and I guess principle are what it's about for me marye. It's seeming more and more pathetic by the day though. Maybe I should just give in so I can get more focused ads. :-)

I guess the term free is just relative now. Or, it still is relative. Oh well, I guess I will just listen to the reports of how it sounds. Enjoy streaming public! It is cool that it exists and I am happy for those folks that are grooving to it! :-P

Are you going to make more of the Dave's Picks limited edition poster? I am disappointed that long-time annual subscribers weren't notified of this, I've bought every Dick's Picks and Dave's Picks since they started. I've had the annual subscription as long as they've been offered. Would love to get one and frame it for my listening room. Any chance of that happening? On the secondary market they're priced at ~$900. C'mon...

Hi ! For the past few years I periodically fill out the " who are you where are you ...?" yet have never received a single email from this site . Ill assume it's not just me ? Is there a way to actually get email notifications ? Also I hope to see the Advent calendar again in 2021 :)

Check your spam/junk box for the emails.

When you buy something from this site check the box at the bottom of the form that you want to receive emails.

I recently received my Dave’s Pick Winterland 2/23/74 #42, however, I was never shipped DP #40 from Noblesville.

We have also recently moved and I don’t see where I can change my address on Dead.net. Please advise.

Many Thanks,

Highly disappointed NFA 2024
by Vibe315 on 8/14/24Sphere - Las Vegas
The dead changed my life. I’d like to start off there if it wasn’t for them I can’t say where I’d be today I grew up kicked out on the streets at 14 and at 15 I was brought to my first hometown festival. Interactions with people like Zach deputy and Ryan Montheblu, ( sorry if I butchered the last name) showed me there’s a different way one full of love and family and respect. So as the years have gone by I got to be blessed to see Bob Weir and Rat Dogg with the Almond Brothers and Phil Lesh and Friends, Further, Mickey Heart and the Heartbreakers and Even the Bill Kreitzmen trio. And etc…. They all taught me something new and I’ve loved em all. Last year I was blessed as one of the 1400 civilians to get tickets to the May 8th show at Cornell I thank you guys for changing my life in a positive way and I’m sad to see if this really is the end. I couldn’t make the two of the last three shows but I made that Last Saturday night and im looking foreward to what’s to come the music will never die. I will have to say I was dissapointed the way your staff treated me when I purchased the foil weekend poster two Ralph Steadman tees a neglagine bottle and the varsity jacket after the show. Your staff told us we were the last ones there and we need to leave the premises immediately there was no kindness from the people working the booths and your security was extremely rude. I’ll miss you guys but your letting ignorant people ruin everything you build I worked hard to earn the money I spent at your merch table and I wish I could of returned it. NFA 2024 Family for Life
