I'm not sure if this is the reason, but I've had the same folder problem in the past and went to the edit >get info menu then details and checked if the compilation box is marked. If so uncheck it and the music should go in your GD folder.

Disc download ABORTION

I bought the CD box set and now I'm trying to import it into my iTunes. 5/8/77 downloads into a blank folder and refuses to load into my Grateful Dead folder. I've moved it a couple of times and it goes right back to the same folder. What the flying fuck? This isn't rocket science! I'm also listening to a bit of this 5/8/77 show as I have previously owned a nice soundboard copy of this. What is up with all the echo! You guys didn't need to add that shit. Now that I read all the problems with this set I'm very disappointed in the company. This type of stuff is rookie crap and should not be happening to the Grateful Dead, especially with this box set!! I have no idea how to get Barton hall into my Dead folder since it simple doesn't want to stay there when I drop it in manually. I'm going to be supremely pissed off if I finally find a way to do that and the fucking thing skips! What the fuck, Grateful Dead??? Grade: F- PS I might as well review the packaging while I'm at it. This is the most flimsy ridiculous packaging ever. It did nothing to protect the discs. I had a couple flying around Inside the Box before I opened it. So far this whole experience is a waste of money and a kick in the balls. Thanks

I think I had a bad disc in the original May77 box along with a bunch of other people and was promptly sent out a replacement disc without having to return anything. Also had a couple of other issues over the years that were stressful (in my mind), but the good Dr was able to resolve to complete satisfaction. I'd recommend contacting both Mary and Mac (the Dr.). You'd think for the Byte-Sized HD version it would be in the cloud so there would be multiple locations to download from and not suffer bandwidth contraints from a single data center. Sounds like the wrong file got pushed out for the higher HD content. Hope it works out to everyone's satisfaction!

Through New Haven, Boston....

....and the Buffalo first set. No skips yet. The first listen to these shows is more apprehensive than enjoyable. In the back of my mind, I'm cringing that a skip will appear....Edit. I do try to block that feeling. The audio, however, is stellar....

Downloaded 6gb's, stalled, and then lost it all. Now using a download manager, two hours in with less than 2gb (after losing 17 hours of downloading) and the download manager says it has 48 hours last to go. Fix please. "As someone who has downloaded countless large files from multiple sources with an internet connection that is gigabit speed I can confidently state that this is the poorest orchestrated downloading fiasco I have ever experienced. In the past (May 77 Box) there have been options to download by individual discs or shows. This time it is all or nothing for a file that is 22.46GB. My first attempt stalled around 6gb. When I attempted to restart it went back to zero. My current download, according to the DL manager I am using, will complete in "only" 46 hours. While I can wait 2 more days for shows that are 40 years old that is not the issue. Who is running this process and do they know WTF they're doing? Skipping discs, wrong items sent, no shipping notices, expedited shipping resulting in a convenience for the sellers, etc, etc. Way to go Rhino - from the bungled ordering process to the fulfillment this has been an embarrassment. Get your act together please!"

This may not in fact be a craven money grab by some organization, but the combination of shitty design, lack of packaging care, and manufacturing defects are stunning. Surely we have not been dealt with in bad faith. Where is accountability?

No Delivery

Well, none of my discs skip, but that's because I haven't gotten the box yet. I tracked it on UPS all the way up to delivery at 6:57pm last night, right down to the detail that it was dropped at my front door. But nothing was delivered to my house! (Yes, I looked around outside and even at my neighbors door steps...) Called UPS at about 8pm and they said an investigation has to be started by the shipper. Wait, what?! The driver was probably still on his/her route, can't you contact them and find out what house they dropped it off at? Nope, so I used the Rhino customer service contact webpage to request that they start the investigation. Needless to say I have very little hope that this will be expedited. My best hope is that whoever got the package calls UPS and it gets sorted out that way.

Missing Disc

My box set is missing disc 3 from May 8th. I cant tell you how disappointing that is. I didn't even listen to any of it lat night, I was too bummed. I don't know what they will be able to do about it. I don't want to return the special edition and I know they are sold out.

i've seen two of your posts in one weekcomplaining about someone's negative comments-guess what, when someone has an opinion that is not aligned with your thoughts,even if it's about someone setting a price for something they selling or the band is slop before pigpen.its gonna be negative.it's their prerogative to say it's not worth it or no thanks.i think it's your emotional immaturity to anything negative or something you don't agree with.you could have left it to-"that's your opinion and i don't agree."instead you feel it's necessary to put someone down.earth without rain is a desert.

Pauses between tracks?

Hi all, A technical issue I'm hoping to resolve: Recently ordered this set, promptly downloaded the CDs to my iTunes collection. Getting 1-2 second pauses between most of the tracks which disturbs the flow of the music. Does anyone know what might be causing this, and how to fix it? Gareth

It’s most likely caused by a setting in iTunes. Go into the iTunes preferences and see what is listed for import settings, as well as for playback settings.If you still can’t fix it then google it, there should be instructions somewhere.

Newly Grateful Recommendations

You know, Gareth, it really comes down to what you like about the Dead... When I put in the Dead, I rarely want to listen to songs, so to speak. I tend to go for the long, inspired jams. For this, I would suggest the Winterland 1973 boxed set as No. 1, so far... though in general, shows from the 1973-1974 will be your best bet for this... That said, there are gems of shows throughout the years, though I've never personally been impressed by anything later than 1977. May 1977: Get Shown the Light (All Music Edition) is a great collection from this year. I also really love One from the Vault, Sunshine Daydream, & Dick's Picks, Vol. 14... The Grateful Dead Movie Soundtrack is an all-too-looked-over gem, too. Finally, if you can afford it, I'd recommend getting a copy of the Pacific NW '73-'74 boxed set while it's still available on this site. When these sell out on dead.net, they price-inflate like crazy to 2x their original cost or more.

Get Shown the Light, the box with the book, was limited to 15,000 copies, I read somewhere.But I can’t find anything on the All Music Edition that’s still available. Can somebody tell me how many of those were printed?

Best digital format?

So, I'm totally showing my newbie-ness, but when the formats are digital, which is the best to download? I'm thinking about uploading to iphone for maximum bluetoothing. Also, is the first selection a CD collection of the four shows? I didn't see it listed behind the All Music Edition, so I figured it must be sold out.

16/44.1 is CD format, so you could convert to WAV or AIFF on a computer and burn CDs if you wanted to, as well as have the digital file on a music player.

The higher resolution files are for a computer or music player. If you wanted to burn CDs from those files you would lose the higher resolution that you paid more for.

I downloaded the ALAC of this digital download but when I import into iTunes it is not recognizing the artist or songs and not creating an album. For the same ALAC download for Pacific Northwest ’73-’74: The Complete Recordings Boxed Set it worked perfectly in iTunes. Why does this download now import correctly? Thanks if anyone knows or can help.

May 1977: Get Shown The Light (All Music Edition)

Since they sold out of the regular box set with all the bells and whistles, and had a huge demand, Dead.Net is selling an All Music Edition that "...only includes the 11 CDs in four folios and a booklet of liners, housed in a simple slipcase."

So, still the four shows, just without the special packaging and the unpublished book. This time, the order went through. Nothing on the website about this also being a limited release -- it's not numbered, but they don't specify if it's another set amount.

Excellent news ! I wonder if they will re-release other box sets in this format that originally sold out. Fillmore West 1969 is the one I sadly missed out on and would shell out for in a heartbeat.

Does somebody have problems with tracking number?

I've purchased the fantastic Lyceum LPs more than a month ago and still nothing arrived.
I've searched for the tracking number done by the GD store on the DHL site but nothing appears.
I've yet written to the customer helpdesk, but I'm curious if somebody encountered my same problem.

Just to state the obvious, they are indeed fantastic records. I am half way through 5/25/72 at the moment - one that no-one really mentions. Probably because of the night after, which is a shame as it's a great show in it's own right. Curious "Good Lovin" - 14min 53 seconds, and no Pigpen rap - he just sings the opening the verses and the closing ones some 12 minutes later. In between we have spot on r'n'b jamming like no-one else.
