Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have music from 1977, 1981, and 1989.
Our first selection this week featuring second set music from 10/7/77 in Albuquerque, NM, where we have Ramble On Rose ; Passenger ; Terrapin Station > Playing In The Band, including a couple of songs that were usually first set songs at this time.
Next is the start of the first set from 10/8/81 in Copenhagen, Denmark, were the Dead opened the show with Feel Like A Stranger ; They Love Each Other > C C Rider ; Cumberland Blues ; Mama Tried > Mexicali Blues ; Althea ; Cassidy.
Lastly this week is the opening of the second set from the opening night of a five night run the Brendan Byrne Arena in E. Rutherford, NJ on 10/11/89, featuringChina Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider; Estimated Prophet> Terrapin Station. This was the longest run of shows outside of California and New York since 1967.

After the first two nights I traded my tickets for the Steel Wheels tour at Shea Stadium later in October. The security in the lot at Brendan Byrne were bashing heads and arresting people all over the place. I never returned to the Byrne for a show.
