Well recorded unofficial album. The official Dreamin’ Man Live 1992 is brilliantly recorded but doesn’t have the full concert. I recommend them both.

RIP Mike Ratledge of Soft Machine who I’ve just noticed died a few days ago.

... I looked up the Lindley Meadows pic/s and Jerry is playing the first of the two T. Beans he used. So, it is definitely from earlier.

Interesting then - what is in that video you mention/picture that came up would possibly be a very early Irwin/Alembic (prototype) that predates Wolf's commissioning in 1972 and actual 'launch' of it at shows in late summer of 1973.

    Hmmm ....

Postscript - Here's what would make most sense to me: On 2/4/70 they were just back from New Orleans & "the bust" therein, but some of their equipment is not ... So Ol' Jer borrowed/was loaned that prototype Alembic in order to have the show come off - complete with groovy chick dancers. A couple of Archive reviews indicate it 'sounds different' and TBH, I haven't heard it (yet), as I don't have the Download Series releases.

Apparently (well, let's say 'hunch') he had such a good time playing it that day, that is what led to the refinement/development of the 1973-4 version ... Cool

I am pretty sure that's her dancing with The Dead at The Family Dog on 2/4/70, which came out on dvd a while back.

... popped up a picture of her (Renee Berg) dancing behind Jerry at what I think - off the cuff , i.e. guessing - is the Lindley Meadows show in the fall of '75 (Jerry on Wolf & wearing a leather jacket)

I've just startrd going around again, 2nd spin, on the new DaP #53. Then, prompted by that image - I think I'll pull out Lindley Meadows for the pm. That should hit the spot ...

Dennis - in my admittedly small circle of acquaintances Smokie weren't considered too cool. They might well have had hidden qualities. We were quite snobby, although we didn't see it that way at the time.

I recently bought a great box set by the Welsh band Man, called "On The Air 1972-1983". It features BBC recordings in that timespan and includes 4 cds and 2 dvds. Great sound quality - it's not a grey area bootleg or anything like that. I don't know if they were known about in the States, but they were sometimes considered as the Welsh equivalent of Quicksilver for their great guitar sound, willingness to jam and stoned good humour.

Check out Renee Berg strutting her stuff with them on stage on the first dvd. She can be seen dancing to Quicksilver online at a live show circa 1970 and also joined Stacia with the mighty Hawkwind for the Space Ritual tour in 1972.

    Quick question.

What is the tax difference between what list price is and declared price?

    2nd question.

Downloaded a group called Smokie this morning, how are they viewed over there? I never heard of them.

We finished our project a bit quicker than anticipated so back at home with a few extra free days. Finally getting around to jam section released as filler on Disc 3 of RT Vol. 4 No.3. 11/21 got the spotlight on that release but all of 11/20 needs to released. Great show front to back.

PF - I picked up the The Basement Tapes RAW (Bootleg Serties Vol 11) for a buck at a local yard sale. Haven't really cracked it but now I've got to see whats up. Also got Tom Petty's Highway Companion for $1 - that's a disc I spun a whole lot.

Currently rewatching Couch Tour of the Austin show. Charlotte, Austin, how lucky you were!! Some great shows this tour. Never was in a position to follow the band thru tours. Had to pick my shows. The couch Tour is pretty great, especially for an old guy. Hope this isn’t wrong. Not trying to promote or advertise them, but thrilled to see every show of a tour, so conveniently.

AOXOMOXOA 50th anniversary disc 1- 1969 original mix

This entire production is first class, from the 3D cover (a la rolling stones satanic majesty) which I certainly would have appreciated staring at back in the day, it is truly wonderous.
The sound is perfect, the live stuff sounds better than ever, but really should use the original shows complete, in the order that the Dead created them. Listening to Good morning little schoolgirl by the Dead and comparing it to Ten Year After version...well, what to say, as much as I dig Alvin Lee (RIP), I MUST say that Jerry's version has more soul to it. Great cover by the Dead (off their debut album!).
