Holy S#%*! It’s the COMPLETE Europe ’72 Box! On Over 60 Discs!

    $450.00
    Europe '72:
    The Complete Recordings

Hey now! Due to overwhelming demand, surprising even those of us with huge faith in the Europe '72 project, the entire limited edition run of 7,200 boxed sets has sold out in less than 4 days. We thank you beyond words for your support and belief in this unprecedented and wonderful release.

After lengthy discussions, we've decided we don't want to deprive anyone of this music, some of the finest the Grateful Dead ever performed. Of course, we're keeping to our promise that the boxed set and all of its accouterments will not be made available beyond these 7,200 boxed sets (and wait until you see the case in which the music is housed, the hard-bound coffee-table book, plus all of the other cool surprises we've been unearthing!). But, we're going to offer just the music, all 22 shows, more than 60 CDs, more than 70 hours of music, each show housed in its own packaging, for the same price as the boxed set, $450 including domestic shipping. Although perhaps not as cool as the boxed set, the bottom line is that the most important aspect of Europe '72: The Complete Recordings is going to be made available to all, the music.

Because you dared dream this might happen one day… Because you went down to the Gypsy Woman and offered up your first-born to try to make it happen… Because there are enough passionate Dead Heads at Rhino/GD who thought it might be cool for this to happen… It’s happening! Coming in September is a gargantuan, beautifully designed EUROPE ’72 MEGA-BOX SET containing ALL 22 SHOWS of what is arguably the greatest tour the Grateful Dead ever played, on a whopping 60+ DISCS (over 70 hours of music!). Bet you didn’t see that comin’!

Really, at this point we probably don’t need to lay on too much hype about how wonderful the music is: Chances are, if you’re even considering buying a copy of this stunning box, you already know how amazing the Dead’s tour of Europe in April and May of 1972 was. To review briefly, though, the Dead’s first tour outside of North America took them to all sorts of historic and unusual venues in England, Denmark, West Germany, France, Holland and even tiny Luxembourg. Many members of the Dead “family” came along on what was really an extended working vacation that was designed to both expose the Dead to new audiences and also reward the band for their unlikely conquest of America during the preceding two years. As a hedge against the costs of the nearly two-month trip, the Dead’s label, Warner Bros., paid for the band to lug around a 16-track recorder to capture the entire tour… and we’re glad they did!

This was a band at the top of its game, still ascending in the wake of three straight hit albums — Workingman’s Dead, American Beauty and the live Grateful Dead (“Skull & Roses”). It had been a year since the lineup had gone to its single-drummer configuration, six months since Keith Godchaux had been broken in as the group’s exceptional pianist, and this marked the first tour to feature Donna Godchaux as a member of the touring band. There was a ton on new, unreleased material that came into the repertoire in the fall of ’71 (after “Skull & Roses” was out) and during the spring of ’72, including “Tennessee Jed,” “Jack Straw,” “Mexicali Blues,” “He’s Gone,” “Comes A Time,” “Ramble on Rose,” “One More Saturday Night,” “Black-Throated Wind,” “Looks Like Rain” and Pigpen’s “Chinatown Shuffle,” “The Stranger (Two Souls in Communion)” and “Mr. Charlie.” (Sadly, this was Pigpen’s final tour.) All those future classics were interspersed with songs from the aforementioned “hit” albums—such as “Uncle John’s Band,” “Brokedown Palace,” “Cumberland Blues,” “Casey Jones,” “Sugar Magnolia,” “Bertha,” “Not Fade Away,” et al — and then were topped off by loads of big jamming numbers — the Europe ’72 tour produced spectacular versions of “Dark Star,” “The Other One” “Playing in the Band,” “Truckin’,” “China Cat Sunflower” > “I Know You Rider,” “Good Lovin’,” “Lovelight” and even the early Pig chestnut “Caution.” And that’s leaving out a truckload of other tunes, too! There wasn’t a clunker show in the bunch, and many are acknowledged today as classics. No doubt you already have some favorites.

Through the years, there have been a few releases of material from the Europe tour—starting with the 3-album Europe ’72 which knocked our socks off in the fall of that year, and followed many years later by material from a pair of German shows and the fantastic 4-CD Stepping Out, culled from the group’s eight shows in England. Incredibly, though, only one full show from the tour has come out previously: the excellent 4/24 concert in Dusseldorf, Germany, released as Rockin’ the Rhein in 2004.

Until now, that is. Jeffrey Norman, who has been the primary mixer of Dead archival multi-track material for the past 15 years (Fillmore West ’69, Ladies and Gentlemen…, Rockin’ the Rhein, Nightfall of Diamonds, etc.) has spent many months toiling over the 16-track masters from the tour, and will continue working on the mixes through the Winter and Spring, employing the high-tech Plangent Processes transfer and restoration tools, trying to get every show to sound “just exactly perfect” (as Bob Weir says) for this release. You might think you’ve heard that intense “Dark Star” > “Sugar Mag” > “Caution” from Copenhagen, but I guarantee you’ve never heard it sound this alive! Mastering to HDCD specs is two-time Grammy-winning engineer David Glasser of Airshow Mastering. Needless to say, all the songs that turned up on previous Europe compilations will be appear in their proper show contexts, and in the case of songs from the Europe ’72 album, without overdubs that were added later (where possible).

The packaging is, as you might expect, first rate. Each show is its own Digipak, with its own liner notes by top Dead scholars (including David Gans, Steve Silberman, and Nicholas Meriwether) and attendees of some of the concerts, and many never-before-seen photos. Additionally, there is an enormous book worthy of coffee table treatment featuring hundreds more photos and a comprehensive essay by yours truly (Blair Jackson). The box will also contain other memorabilia and ephemera from the tour.

A rough sketch of the potential packaging.
Check back soon for more product images.

At $450, this clearly will not be a box for everyone. In fact, this individually numbered boxed set will be limited to orders placed with a maximum of 7,200 boxes produced. As a special bonus, the first 3,000 orders will receive a personalized copy. Due to the huge manufacturing costs (wait 'til you see it! We're doing something unlike any other boxed set release ever! It's exceptional!!), we need to hit 3,000 sales before we even go into production. If we don't reach 3,000 by April 1st, the boxed set won't be able to happen. This isn't a gun-to-your-head sales pitch. Rather, we want to be open with you about the realities of this release's massive scope and ambition.

    -->

So dig deep, raid the penny jar, take a weekend job at Jack-in-the-Box, beg your kindly ol’ grandma for some of your inheritance early… Yes, it’s an extravagance, but jeez, you (or your loved one) deserve it! This is way cool.

I knew as I was typing that post that I shouldn't have been taking the bait. We've had our share of vehement disagreements, but it never occurred to me to question your abilities as a writer. As I said, I think it smells a bit of envy/jealousy. No one's holding a gun to anyone's head to make them read your ponderous and self-congratulatory (LOL) essays. I'm over it, though. It just gave me a glimpse into your world, and I'm glad I don't have to deal with it. I daresay I'd be a bit less gracious than you, were I in your position.

In another part of the universe, I am off to have lunch with Sandy Sohcot of the Rex Foundation in a bit, and she is very appreciative of all the $10 donations that are coming in over the last few days. Thank you, Europe 72 folks!

Jerry certainly wasn't all about freeing the music in 1970, dedhed76. Far from allowing fans to record shows, the band's attitude then meant that taping had to be very covert. On tapes from that era Jerry, Bobby or Phil can often be heard calling out tapers between songs. The road crew would find the offending taper and stop them, forcibly. Tapers from that time have stories of seized tapes, sliced mic cords and the like. Too bad really, since audience tapes are all we're gonna ever have for a lot of those shows since many aren't in The Vault.

Does anyone know when we can place an order for the "All the Music" edition. I put in a request, got a response saying that they got the request (but that's all it was, just a notification that they got the request and nothing more), but I have no idea when we can actually place an order. The box, book, and trinkets are probably cool, but I just want the music. I wonder when we can place an order? Anyone know?

And I can tell you from experience that it can work. My wife's not "indifferent" to the Dead -- she simply don't like 'em! But our sweet little daughter, bless her ears, knows good music. Ask her what her favorite band is, go on.

May hate the music of the Dead, but when I was waffling over ordering (which is to say, forking over the cash to pay for) this box, she was right there urging me to go for it. What a fine woman!

Adding to the comments about spouses, kids and Dead music:Luckily, my girlfriend loves the Dead. She's the one that signed us up for Sirius just for the Dead channel. I have a 32 yr. old daughter who is also into the Dead, we trade lots of shows. Definitely raised her right. And my 11 yr. old, while being a big Disney tunes listener, can often be heard humming or singing along as the Dead channel is playing throughout the house. She loves GDTRFB and we have fun singing along but switching the lyrics to stuff we're currently doing, like "goin' down the hall feelin' bad..."

They did ask him as Bob Weird is a health nut...they asked Jerry to get off drugs get healthy Jerry just flat out refused, Jerry may have even gone to rehabs but escaped or i may be confused with Cosby...in the end it did kill Garcia premature, but the signs were all there...drug use, extra weight...drugs and overweight is a killer on the heart...i'm sure the dead were interested in making $$$ i think dicks picks made them more $$$ than anything else, i never really liked their albums for the most part...maybe their 1st 3-4 i listened to through and through, but it was 95% their live stuff even to this day i listen to all the time...plus if they did it in a show you know it's a song they liked rather then some filler...but working man's dead and american beauty didn't have any filler they were bonafide.

Nicholas, not all the fans lived in squalor. C'mon man, we come from all walks of life. And if the band wants to spend their money on wine, etc, who are we to tell them they can't?

For a band that hasn't officially been together since 1995 they've managed to find new concerts to put out several times each year...soon the big mother bomb of them all the 1972 complete european tour for those 7,000 people only...and i'm sure if they never released another album of live music no one would be deprived or hungry for more as there's so much already...but if i could get 1972 tour which i can't since it's all sold out but if i could i would...i surly would as paul simon once said...they had it all on that european, last hurrah for the original line up, they had harmonies, were still doing a majority of Robert Hunter songs who i thought was an excellent songwriter for the band and i think it was a mistake they phased him out somewhat, but never totally...Weir went with Barlow and others at different times...you can't ever agree 100% with any acts every musical decision...the most famous one was Dylan's decision to go electric as opposed to remaining acoustic...Lady Gaga's decision to wear bikinis rather than a customary gown etc etc.

I agree the HDCD definitely sounds better, and I'll second the recommendation on the OPPO player. I've got the older, DVD version that plays all audio formats (HDCD, DVD-A, SACD), it sounds great. I hope to get the blu-ray version someday when finances allow, but need that coin for this release, so have to put that off for awhile. ;-)

Listening to Rockin' the Rhein today and thinking they did a pretty good job capturing the sound of the hall. Not sure what else they will do to try and make this big release sound even better. It would be cool if they sent engineers out to the original halls (if they are still standing?) with a bunch of microphones to capture the Impulse Responses of the rooms and tastefully apply convolution reverb of the actual halls to the recordings. Now that would be cool!

What you say is bunk. What follows is at the risk of incurring marye's wrath, but I don't think I'm namecalling: This would be a Woody Allen/Marshall McLuhan moment for sure -- I'm imagining Jerry appearing and chastising you "Newgarden, you know nothing of my work." But you don't even have the common courtesy to zip your mouth when you've been called out for recommending stealing. Who are you man, and why don't you just go away? Also concern trolling, Tony_is_dead: "if i could get 1972 tour which i can't since it's all sold out." No, it isn't sold out. But you know that, don't you.

I'm not sure that that would be a good idea. Granted, the Dead cared about their sound and their sound system but a lot of the venues were acoustic nightmares and trying to replicate the ambience of those places could produce some distinctly weird results.

They are it seems applying the Plangent machine to the tapes, which I don't think has been done for previous releases from Europe '72, but was used for the 2 Winterland Box Sets and the Cow Palace NYE set. So the sound might be even better than on Rockin the Rhein. http://www.plangentprocesses.com/

I trust Jeffrey Norman and David Glasser to get the very best out of what is available to them. Sometimes I have been truly amazed at the quality of sound gleaned out of some of those old tapes. I am sure we will not be disappointed this time around.

Well, I soul searched for a bit as to whether to order this beast. I searched too long as it turned out because when I decided to do it I was too late! The only option available is the music only edition w/o the buzzers and bells. It appears to me that the music only edition should be significantly less expensive than the buzzers and bells ones!

It is cringe worthy what stuff passes for reasonable English these days. But as rswojo (who apparently has trouble just spelling the acronym for "United States" ) recently pointed out.... Thanks Cosmicbadger for the link, re http://www.plangentprocesses.com/, that was an interesting read on how some of the original analog tapes are transferred to digital format. The winterland sets and cow palace are all great sounding for sure. I have been truly amazed at the sound quality of these most recent releases. One that comes to mind off the top of my head is True Jerry Bay Area 78. I can just feel the raw sound of Jerry's Twin Reverb crackle through. There have been a couple of poor ones though. RT vol 3, #4 comes to mind. That is poorly mixed, though that is most likely due to two-track source material. With E72 being 16 track and all, I have really high expectations.

So I key word "Grateful Dead Box Set" on e-bay and I find several Europe 72 box sets for sale. How can this be if it's not to be released until September. The cheapest was $750., on up to well over a $1000.. By the way I did not get an e-mail from Dead-net until the 22nd. But I was too late. I will refrain from using profanity but thats how I feel. Limited edition, some dead net subscribers get notified several days after the fact. Glad the elite are getting special attention. Oh well, cant have it all. So I got to see the Dead several times in 72. So how the 72 box set already made it to e-bay, good work pirates. Your dog will get run over by your karma.

As I mentioned in a previous post way back in January, I missed the boat on the Big Box because I dithered around trying to find out the international shipping costs to here in Paris, France. And yes, yes, I know that boat is long gone, but I was at eight of those E72 gigs and you know what? I still really, really want that box! So I'm still hoping. Maybe someone'll PM me with a code? You never know! Here's what I'm saying: I need a miracle!

After waiting several days (worriedly and impatiently) I was sent my code...I went through the system, tried to place my order and got an ERROR...I had to get a code reset...It was an enormous hassle...I waited 8 days, then finally the re-activated code came... So I re-entered my info...got to the 'place order' screen and had the SAME error...so I called and left a message w/ Dr. Rhino...who managed to e-mail me a newly activated code the same day...a miracle! I called in right before the dead.net folks left for the day and successfully placed an order for the personalized box set...VICTORY (in the words of Johnny Drama)... Have some patience and good things may come your way!! I'm PUMPED!

Newgarden you can't go into the on-line store and purchase this they say you can send in a e-mail but that means zippo...i've filled one out everyday and got nothing...it says 24 hours but it means zippo...so if you can't order a set it's sold out...it's being sold for over 1,100$ on ebay...why is it being sold that much?? If it's not sold out and you can buy one for 450$ why wouldn't you? I always question others who call people trolls...i think people who call other people trolls are trolls themselves...did anyone actually read where it says they'll send you a link to buy it in 24 hours...it says 24 hours not 240 hours...clearly says 24 hours...so if it says that and they don't it means it's over with...done, complete, finite...they said officially 7200 copies...so far there's no more orders being taken other than the original 7200 and there very well may be a waiting list...but i'm probably way down on it...i didn't find out about the set until january 28th or so...which makes me very late, probably entirely too late.

Nicholas sorry about that it was a few pages back (about 167 or 168) and I probably saw your name on this page and wrote it down, he probably did begin with "N" but it's true I wouldn't be upset if this wasn't such a great run of shows...definitely my favorite period 1969-1972 I could listen to those years and never be bored...other years weren't bad...I do think this was miscalculated and that's why it's so bad now...if you read the earlier posts they seem doubtful of getting even 3,000 people so you get an idea of how badly they judged the demand for this...I think they'll come up with something in the next 2 months I just have to not think about it so much.

Mary would have to say that as a moderator but Mary should also tell us any inside information on this boxset if it's going to be offered to more people or not and when...there's an article about offering it without the extras...any news when that will happen...at first i was offended but now i'll take it without the extras and pay the same price...your only alive so long might as well enjoy yourself while your here...death can come at any age 30, 40, 50, 110?

...take offense at your insinuation. There is big difference between being critical and being cynical. Everyone who has expressed frustration with the process is right on, which is why this website and the people who run it did several things to remedy the situation. And the suggestions that downloads should be a more relied upon format are also spot on, and hopefully we will see more of that in the future. However, that is not to be confused with those who are using vitriol and condescension to talk past the fact that they don't want to buy the box sets that are clearly available at 450, and instead want to pointlessly focus on the fact that a few rubes are going to pay a 300% mark-up for a book, maybe a DVD (truthfully though, a DVD would be so sweet), and some other novelties. We get it, you don't want to buy this product. But the loudest cynical voices have mentioned that they 1. can't buy this, when they mean they are unwilling to since they can't get the full box and 2. They are happy to make threats to visit file sharing sites as retribution for an imaginary affront (hint: file-sharing will not get you the extra goodies). If you are unable to afford this set, I for one feel for you. I have been there. I watched a lot of music pass me buy because I couldn't afford it. I probably will be there again soon. But don't be mistaken into feeling that your presence on these boards improves the situation, it just makes it more sour.

if you can read i said i'd take it without the book and i'm interested in the music...450$ isn't that much to come up with in 9 months...i'll admit it's alot but it's not impossible...if it sold in 4 days alot of people think it's good value...it's more than just buying a product...i don't really see it as bragging or to tell all my friends...i don't know too many high level dead fans anyway.

"Why not try to actually grasp the ideas someone is trying to convey instead of basking in a feeling of faux-superiority. Some people..." I get it. It is up to us to figure out what you are trying to say no matter how lazy you are in your writing. You feel no responsibility to take the time and put in the effort to make it easy for us to understand you. You believe this even though many of us are outside the U.S. and might be struggling to understand written English (although from what I have read here, many foreigners have better English skills than locals). Lazy writing shows a rude and inconsiderate attitude toward the readers. I recommend that everyone try to write as clearly and grammatically correct as possible. No one is calling for perfection, so don't be ridiculous about our claiming that. Make the effort and we have a better chance of grasping your ideas, and it just makes it easier for us to read. What's wrong with that?

... and I did read your post after completing mine (I'm slow when coming up with things to say/write). I think it's great that you decided that you could get the music only box. It's proof that the situation for all deadheads has improved somewhat. I hope you are high enough on the list to get a full box, when it all shakes out, and I hope it does very soon.

I can't think of another band that would be burning up the internet lines for a 22 album tour with goodies that happened almost 39 years ago. I'm probably wrong, there are a lot of people into primo jazz. I, for one, am happy it happened at all, am glad all will listen to the music who can afford it and glad I was in a space to afford it. You're pretty pathetic if you have to go up to the official site and brag you're gonna' rip it for the cost though. Personally, I would hold that opinion (if I had it) to myself. There are a lot of musicians getting their houses repo'd in Malibu because they can't control intellectual property rights anymore. It is poetic justice thet the Dead can make their money and have their bottom-feeders too!

If you challenge Marye like that man. Who will it be next week? A new person seems to pop up here with a terrible, confrontational and bullying attitude each week. However, so far, Nicholas, you take the cake bud. "It's got no signs or dividing line and very few rules to guide"

You can look to congress for your jobs lost...facts...in 2001 around February/March congress said to companies you no longer had to employee X amount of employees to get a tax break...companies also import workers to come to the states to work for often 1/4 of the pay of American Workers...Mexicans (no disrespect) will work for much less than U.S. workers so there's not alot of overall anti-stopping Mexican sentiment...fact in my small town workers were making 15$ an hour to fix roofs following a hurricane overnight Mexicans came in and were making only 6-8$ an hour...there's tons of programs companies will get paid by states, cities for welfare, ex-prision workers and probably 10 more such programs...so gone are more jobs...not forgetting all the jobs shipped overseas...and alot of selling out occured for votes, maybe $$$ gains, compainies obviously get richer...only thing is if there's millions of less people working that's tons of Taxes not be collected...nobody really wants to say that but that's where the jobs went...and there's some truth that the world's economy may be bad but it all stems from what happens on wall street anyway...what happens on a hilltop in India usaully can stem from what happens on wall street.

Regardless of the economy you still have 7 or so months to save up for the set...that's maybe 2$ a day...my neighbor is addicted to heroin and he got his payment in or made a deal...i lent him 300$ because he told me this car story...he says can you drive me there it's 10 minutes away...i go right i go left then lo and behold we're in the middle of a ghetto...he says wait here i have to give my mechanic the money, i said your driving back right he says oh no he can't do it today...i'm waiting 5 minutes later he comes out the police say don't move freeze, you the driver keep your hands up above the wheel...they empty his pockets and out comes heroin paraphenila, only thing they can't arrest him because he must've tossed the heroin or swallowed it, i did read later that they hold it in their mouths after buying the stuff because they know they can't get arrested without having the stuff, you can have paraphenila...it's a hard lesson to learn that basically you can't trust no one...he was my neighbor for 2 years only a week before his girlfriend left him and he said he was fired from his job and needed his car fixed as he had another one starting thursday...there was no car even though he used to have one he was using me to purchase heroin...he also threw in 400$ of stolen gift cards as part of the deal with the promise i'd get the $300 back which made it seem i was getting a deal but they were all no good and he never intended to pay me back, now he keeps his lights off and hides as he probably did the same to others occassionally you hear someone banging his door down...but my story is how America has become and that even though it looks bad you can still prevail...and if this boxset brings people happiness don't deny them that and say the economy is bad and foreclosures which are all true, but music is an escape to a happier time...you can transport yourself back in time with music...i hate these times with a passion make no mistake...i hate what happend to people and this country, i dislike the lies we were told...etc etc...there's alot wrong and someone needs to fix them including all of us...if we all lend a hand to fix problems this world would improve.

On February 1st, 2011 Nicholas Newgarden said: "And for those folks who seem to enjoy bashing the writing ability of other posters ...... Why not try to actually grasp the ideas someone is trying to convey instead of basking in a feeling of faux-superiority. Some people..." I'm sorry Nicholas, but I see it as somewhat ironic that so many of the posters who are so quick to jump on Customer Service because they didn't get to speak to "someone who speaks English" (or to be more precise, who speaks English with an acceptable American accent) can barely construct a properly coherent written sentence in the same language. Bad grammar and incorrect spelling aside, I can still actually grasp the ideas being conveyed: xenophobia, jingoism, racism, intolerance. Pretty ugly stuff actually.

"Accoutrements" or "accouterments". Either spelling is fine, I looked it up on the internet so it must be true. Also looked it up in my big-ass ancient Oxford Unabridged Dictionary - and hurt my back getting it off the shelf LOL. I thought teh intertubes had gotten past grammar flames and spelling smack, guess I was wrong. And although I did find several definitions I could only find one correct spelling for "troll". LMAO.

I think when they say offer it without the 'extras', it's just sending the digi-paks in a big box, no 'steamer trunk' or map of Europe or itinerary or any of that stuff. By the way, it's 'you're', not your. I would think there would be some sort of discount if you're not going to be getting all the extras. Keeping the price at $450.00 when you don't get the trunk or personalized set or any of the other goodies seems to be not quite the right thing to do. But...you DO get the entire European tour of 1972 so...complaining about ANYTHING seems a little petty to me. And I'm assuming it'll all come in digi-paks. Not every show will be a 3-disc set, the 04-21 Bremen show will probably be a single disc. The 04-16 Aarhus Denmark show will be most likely a 2-disc set. 05-04, 05-10 and 05-11 might possibly all be 4-disc shows. Same with 05-23 and 05-26. It'll be fun when some more information like set lists and disc breakdowns becomes available. It'll be quite nice to hear 04-11 in excellent quality unlike the relatively poor quality stuff that's floating around. Also when we get 04-26 all together in sequential order with a consistent mix...it seems like the outtakes disc that we got after 'Hundred Year Hall' was released has stage right swapped over to stage left and vice versa, not sure. Maybe it was just the fact that the mix was so radically different. There are just so many cool things about this boxed set and so many questions that will be answered. Anybody out there like Deep Purple? You all know 'Made In Japan' I'm sure. Back in 1993 (my god, has it really been almost 20 years already?) EMI put out a triple-disc set called 'Live In Japan' (which can be confusing since the original 'Made In Japan' when released in Japan was called 'Live In Japan') that released the entire Japanese tour of August 1972 (with the exception of a couple of tracks that had already been released on 'Made In Japan') and they included most of the encores...the encores that didn't make it did end up getting released here and there over the years on various boxed sets and compilations so we now have every single song played at every single show played in Japan during August 1972. It's definitely on a smaller scale but it's cool when you have bits and pieces of shows then suddenly you have the entire tour available and you can compare and contrast everything. Smaller scale, for sure. It was very cool and I'd recommend checking it out. The mix was radically different than 'Made In Japan' (and BETTER obviously). This Europe '72 complete boxed set just today reminded me of that DP LIJ boxed set so I had to go back and check it out...REALLY looking forward to this boxed set, can't wait!!!! It would be cool if a pre-determined quantity of each show was pressed up and made available for individual purchase for those who cannot afford the whole wad. I imagine that GDP would be concerned that they'd sell out of certain shows and be left with a relatively large quantity of other certain shows. I would understand that. Still...

Remember that dude in the Grateful Dead movie, that keeps arguing how "the Dead are commercial sellouts", and "this scene would never end up in a movie", etc? Ha! I think he's blogging on here. ......lol
